An apple for a teacher

The WMS waltz this month that was all about teachers and the end of the school year inspired me to make yet another teacher card. You may see several more teacher cards and/or teacher gift ideas. This one is much more typical: includes an apple. Most people think of apples when they think teacher. The apple is from a teacher set by PTI while everything else is from WMS.

Not sure why my card looks crooked as it isn't IRL. I sponged the black background for a chalkboard effect as I thought it made this a little classic meets modern. The white on either side of the black were stamped in Tumbled Glass with WMS's Text-It  after stamping it off once. The red "thanks" was stamped with Free Spirit Sentiments. The cute little banners are from WMS's Bitty Banners (another love of mine). I really like the red triangle that was created with this design and how the black really works with out overpowering the whole thing. I may just make enough of these for the teachers in my department for the end of this year too. In fact, this one is going to a company that supported a grant we wrote and won.

For the teachers

A couple of days ago I posted this card and said I wanted to redo it

Here is the redo:
The redo simply was done by me stamping a larger apple and using pop dots to pop it up in the smae place where the small apple was.

I also created these three cards with Tag It #6 set using the small apple :)

I really like the welcome banner that goes across this one.

One sketch 2 looks

I love the look of the long skinny cards and the sketch from WMS's sketch challenge this week for perfect for them. In fact, I liked the sketch so much that I ended up doing two cards.

Card 1 uses WMS stamps. The car and boy head is from Half Pint Heros, the cloud and little bird is from Half Pint Heroines and the sentiment was pieced together using Free Spirit Senitments. In the sketch it suggested/said to stamp the back ground and that had me pondering what to do at first. As I was looking through my WMS stamps I decided to make a cute little scene with the Half Pint sets (LOVE making scenes with these sets cause they are so easy to create). This sketch also lent itself so easily to a driving scene for me as the strip is the road so that gave way to a sky and ground. I stamped the bird and clouds on the background and the card and lil' dude on the image panel. One I layered it on I discovered lots of my clouds got lost. Not good for an outdoor scene, so I them made masks for the card n' dude as well as the clouds and bird. The masks also worked to protect the parts that needed to be white or colored from the blue sky I sponged on using Distress Inks. My road needed to be on the image panel as well so I masked off where that needed to go and sponged on Black Soot. I am really proud of how it all turned out once I popped up each panel.

Card 2 uses PTI stamps. I am in the middle of making back to school cards for my team at school and thought this sketch would work well for a CAS card for the project. The pattern paper I used is from my stash so I don't remember the name but the apple and sentiment is from PTI's set called Teacher's Apple. In fact, I am sure you will be seeing more of this set this week as I work on their cards.

Welcome Back...

to school. Another school year is just around the corner for me. I go back next Tuesday and the kids come back the following Monday. Of course this got me in the mood to create a school card.

The WMS sketch was so much fun that I decided to use it again for a welcome back card. I'm sure this will go to a co-worker next week. The base is kraft c/s that I sponged with Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain ink (all of the kraft bases on this card are sponged with those colors). The big black layer was imbossed with PTI's Linen IP (one of my favorite plates). The second kraft layer was embossed with the wood IP from PTI. I then added a strip of cream ribbon (I took away the bow as I wanted a cleaner and simpler look). The whole chalkboard like look was inspired by my center piece. I had created that with a chalkboard in mind. I stamped Welcome (from a WMS set) and back to school (from PTI's Tag Its #6) in white ink. It needed a little something more so I took my white pen and added the lines (they turned out a little whiter than I wanted though). The apple is from PTI's Fruit Fusion: Apple. Once put together I decided my base chalkboard needed a little something extra so I stamped the little apple for TI #6 in white. The card came together very quickly so that was a big plus :)
