What's the buzz?

Over Spring Break I got to play around a little and I start two cards. One I am showing today. The other is for another day, lol. I finished this one Monday night. I decided to pull the cute little bees from There She Goes' Bee Happy set. I wanted to pair the bee with PTI's Hexagon plate so I decided to let that be the focus. Instead of die-cutting the plate I embossed it and the cardstock I used was a glossy one. I chose that c/s just so I could play around with some alcohol inks. I loved the colors I used because it turned out to be like honey (inks were Caramel, Butterscotch, and Terra Cotta). The sketch for the card came from Clean & Simple. The banner was stapled on with Tim Holtz's mini stapler. I stamped the bee onto white c/s and then sponged blue inks onto it to create a sky. A second bee was stamped and colored on scrap white c/s and then cut out and glued over the other one. This is also for the TSG's anything goes challenge.

Day or Night Mojo

Everytime I see this set and the name I think of the great love "Night and Day" by Mr. Blue Eyes himself Frank Sinatra (I love the Rat Pack). In memory of that great song I used the amazing There She Goes stamp set for another Mojo Monday card. I don't really have any charms but did find this sweet little 'love' one in my stash. Everything on this card was stamped and I had fun stamping them.

Let's start with the sun base. I used the rays from Practicing Creativity's You're Dandy set to create the day background. First I sponged the whole c/s in Mustard Seed ink, then I sponged the sun and big rays in Spice Marmalade (although Wild Honey would look nice I am sure), next I went over the whole thing in the MS ink and the edges in SP. Rounded the bottom corners too. For my night time strip I sponged on Broken China, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire and round the edges. Then I used two stars (one from Half Pint Heroes and the teeny tiny one from Day or Night TSG set to heat emboss in white. Just like how I am limited on charms I am limited on ribbon. I also could find the one roll of white ribbon I do have so I used my white string again. To continue the theme I cut out the frame I stamped (a WMS frame) and layered that on top of my stamped Day or Night scene. I sponged the c/s the with the same colors I've been using on the card only now my sun and moon didn't stand out. What's a girl to do? Cut them out of course. The wee little star was just a little too small for me to cut so I tried just coloring it in with some copics - not quite the look I was going for but it worked. Looking at it now I feel that the bottom of the night panel needs a little something. Oh if only I have the star border die from PTI. Oh well, lol.

My postings may be sparse for a few weeks as I am trying to make some presents/gift sets for my brother and his fiance since the are getting married next month :)

Hello sunshine

I've got another card for you. Guys. I made this one when I made the set from the TSG blog hop. In fact, it is part of the trio of cards at the bottom of the post. I wanted to save this one because I really love it. The other cards are great but this one is the scene. The sun is created with PTI's Up, Up, Away stamp set and the sentiment is from last month's Think Big Favs #15. I created the sand with some kraft c/s and sponged different light brown distress ink colors. The sky was created by sponged the darker blue on the bottom (to give an ocean look) and the sky was created with light blues. I love how the sun rays go off edge of the ceneter panel. I heat embossed in white the sentiment onto vellum.

We finished our state testing for this school year this week and now I am so looking forward to the last of school which is 8 school days away. That also means that I should get back to finishing the teacher gifts for my kiddos teachers.
