Blackboard Airplane

My oldest is enjoying his last week as a Kindergartener. To let him know how proud I am of him and the things he learned this past year I created a little card for him. This is what I am hoping will be the start a new tradtion: to give the boys a card for the start and end of each school year. I decided to go a little old school and use those blackboards teachers used to have in their classrooms. I stamped the images in Fresh Snow ink from PTI and even sponged the edges for that not really washed blackboard feel. The images are from WMS's Free Spirit and Off Beat Backgrounds (although the tiny stars are from TSG's Day or Night) while the sentiment is from PTI's Up, Up, & Away Sentiments.

Challenges used:
WMS Sketch Challenge
One Stop Craft Challenge: one for the boys
Crafty Catz: male card

PTI May Blog Hop 2012

It's hopping time again. Only this time it is with PTI.This month inspiration was found in a beautiful photograph. The inspiration photo is amazing, but my isn't so I aplogize now for the poor quality of my photos. I don't really have a place to take photographs so I have to use what is around. DH and I are talking about getting me a photo tent and some lights b/c I am toying with the idea of trying to submit for different publications. Anyways, back to the hop...

My card was pretty literal. I embossed the main card using a folder in the Tim Holtz line. The black gingham was created with a stamp from WMS called Off Beat Background (and it was my first time using it; I found it really easy to use and can't wait to play with it again). I thought I had the dimond pattern in a stamp but couldn't find one so I improvised and used one from Damask Designs (the sentiment if from this set too). The flower is from one of the new sets called Happy Hydrangea. I was trying to go for the look of the green hydrangea floating in the watter in the green bowl but not sure I pulled it off. To me it just looks like it was placed there...maybe some leaves would have helped it...oh well, you live and learn. Over all I am pleased with the card.

I love hydrangeas and am hoping to plant some next spring. I have heared they are fairly easy to grow/maintain which is what this newbie needs. I've been wanting to plant sometime but it seems so overwheleming. I am thinking about doing just a "small" container for this and maybe two or three more plants (just not sure what kind). A fruit would be nice maybe...

WMS Blog Hop - Felt

It's that time again when WMS has their waltz/hop. This month's challenge was to use felt somehow. Last week's Make It Monday over at PTI had this super cute felt tree and I knew this hop would be the perfect place to CASE it. To create the background I masked off the sky and sponged on 3 shades of Distress Ink greens and then masked off the hill and sponged 3 shades of blue. I wanted to frame the tree and found the perfect one in WMS's Holiday Label #14 and to make it even better I embossed it in white. I grounded the whole thing using sentiments from WMS's Say It Loud and then popped the whole thing up using foam dots. Now that I have finished it I am thinking it will need to find a sweet little frame so that I can display it :) Be sure to check out the WMS blog to follow along with the hop.

Hello sunshine

I've got another card for you. Guys. I made this one when I made the set from the TSG blog hop. In fact, it is part of the trio of cards at the bottom of the post. I wanted to save this one because I really love it. The other cards are great but this one is the scene. The sun is created with PTI's Up, Up, Away stamp set and the sentiment is from last month's Think Big Favs #15. I created the sand with some kraft c/s and sponged different light brown distress ink colors. The sky was created by sponged the darker blue on the bottom (to give an ocean look) and the sky was created with light blues. I love how the sun rays go off edge of the ceneter panel. I heat embossed in white the sentiment onto vellum.

We finished our state testing for this school year this week and now I am so looking forward to the last of school which is 8 school days away. That also means that I should get back to finishing the teacher gifts for my kiddos teachers.

TSG Mother of all Blog Hop - Day 2

After yet another break I am back and ready to go. Summer is just around the corner for me and what better way to bring it than than hopping along in an amazing blog hop brought to you be the customers and trendsetters featuring some of our favorite There She Goes Clear Stamp set over the next two days. Not only that, we're going to give YOU a chance to win some fabulous prizes! To find out show, please go TSG blog and read the simple instructions.

There She Goes Stamps has some really cute sets. I have only just discovered them myself but my wishlist is already long. I a few off the list already and today I am sharing with you some cards I created with Get Your Thong On. It has some of the cutest little flip-flops. There came together rather quickly too.

Up first is the award winning relaxing card, lol. I stamped the striped ff onto white c/s and then used my circle nestie to cut and emboss it. With my copics I colored the image (so easy and only seven colors - think ROY G BIV). I added some star dust stickles to the straps to glam it up a bit. Then I cut out a scallop circle in blue for the base and two banner stips for the tail of the ribbon award. I then mounted my ribbon award onto some white c/s that was slightly smaller than the base. The whole thing was then added to the card base using foam dots. A very simple and yet fun (to me) card that would be great for a friend who has a thing for flip-flops or releaxing.

My second card is another CAS card (maybe even more so than the first one) and the idea for it came from those honeymoon pictures where the newlyweds where special ff that leave a sweet message in the sand. I chose two sets of flip-flops from the Get Your Thong On that I thought would be great for a couple (the plain for Him and the flower for Her). I stamped them on some kraft c/s (to symbolize the sand) and underneather them die cut out a heart. I used distress ink to sponged the sides and then placed it on the kraft card base using foam dots. Perfect for any beach loving couple.

The last picture I am leaving you with is the set that has a third card. I am saving for card for another post. I have been enjoying this set so much that I am in the middle of using it for some end-of-the-year teacher gifts :) Enjoy the hop and be sure to leave comments as one lucky commenter will win a gret TSG prize.
