My card isn't really just for remembering those who have faught for our freedom here in America, but also for those who are still fighting to defend it. I kept the card rather simple and no bling or glitter of any kind so that I can send it to Operation Write Home so that they can send it to a solider overseas. I used Get Sketchy challenge for the layout and the OWH blog hop theme of red, white, and blue for my color theme. I didn't use any other challenges that I know of (shocking I know). I know it may not be much but it comes from the heart.

Color Your World
I can't believe it's almost been a month since my last post. It's been a busy month with trying to wrap up the end of another school year. After June 4th I should be back to my normal posts and play time. Until then I've got finals to give and grade, classroom clean up/pack up, and all of the sign off a teacher's got to do. On top of that I have to look into speech therapy for my 4 year old. He's a talker, but something just feels off. I don't think it's anything serious, but I will feel better once we check it. I did get the latest Scrapbook etc. and have been drooling. While looking through the June edition of Scrapbooks etc. I came across a great layout that I can't wait to CASE into a page of my own. In the mean time, I thought it would make a great card too. I love rainbows and clouds and all things sky related so I thought it was perfect for my little card.
The layout:
The rays in Practicing Creativity's You're Dandy set was perfect for the rainbow rays I needed. The clouds that came in the set were the perfect scale size for the card as well. I heat embossed the clouds in white a little longer than normal so that it bubbled some to give them some texture and then I cut each on out. Two of th clouds are mounted up on foam dots to give them some depth. The words are computer generated in purple so that I could use all of the colors of the rainbow. I think the only thing I would have done differently was to sponged more light blue on the sentiment scrap so that the clouds could stand out more.
Challenges used:
Crafty Calendar - the great outdoors
Stampin' for the weekend - smile/cheer up
Saturday Crafter - no patterned paper
Quixotic Challenge - word/sentiment focus
Wee Memories - sky's the limit
Paper Sundaes - favorite book, poem, or fairy tale (Wizard of Oz and the Over the Rainbow song).

Spring Formal
Sassy Studio Desgins had a release today and I created a card with one of the new images. I tried to get it posted for ya'll last night but I just couldn't finish it in time. She was lots of fun to color with my copics, but I just didn't feel like it was enough so I took out a jar of Shimmerz Wintergreen Blingz and painted over her gown to give a some sparkle...LOVE how it turned out. Then I added some small rhinestones to take it to the next level. Next I decided to turn the whole card into a monochromatic one and kept the color going. The cardstock is from PTI (don't remember the color), the DP is the backing of my Verve stamps that I just went over with a copic that I used on the dress. The sparkle strip on then bottom is white mulberry paper that I color with the same copic and then went over with the Wintergreen shimmerz. I also painted the small flowers with the same shimmerz and colored the bigger flower with a matching copic as well as the bling I added to the center of it. The cardstock base was also stamped with PTI's Background Basics Text Style in Versamark.

Challenges I used:
Stamp Challenges - sketch
Dare U 2 Digi - flowers
Paper Play - pastels
Charisma - girly card with flowers
Beary Scrap - flowers
