Dare to be Sassy

It's time for another Dare to be Sassy challenge over at Sassy Stduio Designs (SSD). This week is a sketch challenge for ya'll. You can rotate, flip it, or even use as is. I can't wait to see what goodness ya'll will come up with.

For my sample, I used one of SSD's newest images (Sassy Alice and some soon to be released Mushrooms) to create a little Wonderland scene. I printed an extra image of Alice and then colored her and popped her up with foam for a 3D look. I erased the items she was holding (a great thing about digi images) too. Then I typed up the sayings so that they could fit the 1/2" circle punch to make brads. The DP is digi paper I got for House of 3. I added shimmer to Alice and the background papers. I choose Creamy Caramel as my base to "ground" the image as it were and had the blue represent the sky and green the ground. I added a butterfly in the upper corner instead of another ground to add to the mushroom forest feel (although I feel like there should be a couple more of them).

Challenges used:
SSD - sketch
Paper sundaes - distress
Kraftin Kimmie - create a scene
Oh, Alice! - get glam/inspiration (the shimmer paper/image as well as the mushroom scene)
Rosie D's - friendship
Cupcake Craft - friends
Lexis Challenge - anything goes
Creative Belli blog - butterflies and dragonflies
Tuesday Tagger - Messy Hands (aka - distress)
Crafty Creations - cut it out and pop it up (the Alice image)
Flutter By Wednesday - Anything goes as long as it have butterflies, fairies, or angles

SSD Alice in Sassyland Challenge

I don't have a card today, but I promise to have one on Thursday. I really just wanted to remind ya'll about the AWESOME SSD challenge that is currently happening. Lindsay is so great that she is not only offering 5 FREE SSD images of your choosing, but she is also including a $20 giftcard to either AMC theater or Cinemark so that you can go see the new Alice in Wonderland once it opens! How cool is that (man, I wish I could paly along, LOL)! Be sure to hop over to the SSD blog to read all about it.

The details:
Create some unique, think outside of the box and create something that represents the whole idea of Wonderland to you. Get inspired by the film. Something different, something fun, maybe not even 'normal'. What you do is up to you. NO standard cards allowed. The only other requirement is that you must use a SSD image (any image will work). Have fun with this.

Lindsay has all the details and information posted at the SSD blog so hop on over there and see what you can do to play along. Can't wait to see what all you will create.

Remember, this challenge ends at midnight on February 28th PST. Post to Mr. Linky at the SSD blog.

A Walk Down Sassy Lane

Today is normally a Sassy Studio Designs release party day, but our fearless leader Lindsay has had a run of bad luck and just wasn't able to this release finished in time. We told her to take care of herself and we'll just throw ourselves a different kind of party today. So today's Sassy release is....A Walk Down Sassy Lane. This means that each DT memeber will be showcasing some of the older Sassy images. Doesn't that sound like fun! Kinda like remembering the oldies but goodies thing. SSD has so many different images that sometimes we forget about some. Today we're going to spend of time looking about and remembering them in the form of a BLOG HOP. Be sure you leave some love at each DT members blog and for a treat you will get something SASSY for Lindsay herself if you also leave your email at the end. Oh COOL is that! You know Lindsay always has a little something Sassy special for us all. I only wonder what else she might have up her sleeve...

My walk takes up back to the day of carnivals and sugary fun. I got to play with the Sweet Lollipop Lily from the Sweet Treats collection. I thought that since we're doing a remembering kinda thing that I would make her a little aged feel, so the colors I used were toned down some - nothing really bright. I had some Basic Grey paper I bought way back when and just haven't had the chance to use it until now too. I really like her and just had to create two cards for you using her. Isn't she the sweetest! The first card uses the whole image. I also sponged the edges with Distress ink Antique Linen and Vintage Photo. After I distressed the paper edges I then went over it with the Walnut Stain to give it some added depth. I applied the same technique to the orange frame and the background paper. I wanted to keep the image as the focus so I added a tucked away tag behind her with a message.

Challenges used:
Kraftin Kimmie Stamps - hidden surprise (the tag)
Creative Belli Blog- ribbon (the pull for the tag)

After I completed her I wanted to do another one, but this time I wanted to really play with her. I didn't shrink you down as much as the first one and I flipped her. When I cut her out I made sure to leave the lollipop out as I really wanted to focus on her face (love Lindsay's details she give them). This time I made some patterned paper to work with my image and gave her a little bling. I sponged the same way to give it that aged feel again, but I didn't distress any of the paper.

Challenged used:
Taylored Expressions (celebrating their 100th challenge) - sketch
All Sorts of Challenge - 3,2,1 (I choose 3 brads, 2 patterned papers, 1 image)
Be sure you check out the rest of the Sassy gals and leave them some love. When you get to the end then you also need to leave an email addy so you can get a sweet treat from Lindsay for the love ya'll left.

Sassy Little Mad Hatter

I just loved Sassy Studio Design's latest release: Alice in Sassyland. Lindsay was inspired by Disney's newest movie and latest take on Alice in Wonderland. Of course she put her sassy spin on several of the images, but this little doll she based on Johnny Depp's character The Mad Hatter. He's really cute, fun, and creepy (then again, have you seen Johnny Depp's character for the movie). When I first saw him I thought Halloween, but then after mulling it over in my head I came up with a Valentine's card that is a little off the normal. I wrote the saying myself with a little help from the Hatter. From what I could remember of the character he always got things backwards, so I handwrote I'm about MAD you! Then I crossed out 'about MAD' and wrote them correctly.

Also, there's a fun Sassyland challenge (you will have to scroll down to find the challenge - sorry)going on for this month and the prize is your choice of 5 Sassy images AND a $20 moive gift card to either AMC or Cinemark. How awesome is that! The challenge is to use any SSD image and create a project inspired by the new Alice in Wonderland movie thinking outside the box (no standard cards allowed).

Challenges used:
CPS sketch
ABC challenge - N for new (it's a new digi iamge)
Crafty card makers - digital something (the image is digital)
Creative Inspiration - use scraps (I used scraps for the frame and the patchwork of the orange)
Easy Craft Projects - Valentine for men
Frosted Designs - Valentine but no red or pink
Our Creative Cornor - Valentine for men
SSDS - Valentine but no red

Greeting Farm Love

I'm not a big fan of stamps/images with no mouths, but Ian and Anya from The Greeting Farm seem to be my exception to the rule. For whatever reason these images just call to many. I don't have many of them (ok, I only have the two used in this card due to lack of funds) and I would love to have more. Maybe one day...

I was in the mood to use an image that I haven't used yet and these were it. I already had them printed too as I bought them back when Club Anya did their big party with the intention of playing along but wasn't able to. These are two digi images that I just masked together. How cute are they! I colored Ian to look kinda like my DH and Anya to look a little like me (cute, right). For Ian I used E00, E01, E11 but for Anya I used the lighter E000 instead to lighten her up some (match my casper white skin).

Lots of challenges (for me) went into this card too.
Just Us Girls - sketch
Cinema Sat - Sleepless in Seattle (love theme plus a red heart)
My time to craft - hearts & kisses (means love to me)
Double Dutch - valentine
C.R.A.F.T. - valentine
Penny's Paper Crafty - valentine/love
Charisma - love ya'

Pop In

Just a quick pop in to let ya'll know that I'm still around. I finished a card but my PSE is acting up so I'm going to try to post it tomorrow. School work is a workout and using up more time that I thought it would too. Maybe after getting a semester under my belt I'll feel better. Right now I'm still really nervous (wrote a paper on Saturday but was too scared to turn it in until this afternoon). The two quizzes I've taken have been good.

Party in Sassyland

It's February 1st and you know what that means...Sassy Studio Designs release day! Be sure to join us for the party at the party blog (which won't be open until party time: 5-7 pm PST/7-9 pm CST). We'll be playing a Sassy roundor two of Bingo giving ya'll a chance to win some Sassy images. You never know what other plans Lindsay may have up her sleves as well. Check out the SSD blog for more deets. Hope to see ya'll there :)

My release day card for ya' is another Sassy March Hare card. The good news is that you too can get this image starting today! I kept it rather simple (too simple if you ask me), but the image really stands out. I inked the edges of the image with PTI's tea duo ink. Crumpled vellum was used for the background and one of the three flowers that I stacked together.

Challenges used:
the sketch is from a challenge but I can't find which one now :( sorry
