10 Fun Things

Hi everyone,

I am on a roll this week. finished two layout yesterday evening! You will have to wait until next week for the other, but I can already show you one of them:

These are pictures from our trip to the zoo, I decided to do a list of fun things that happened that day. I was inspired by that 1-10 sticker, which I have been saving for an occasion just like this for ages but never got round to actually using. I never do these kinds of layouts, mainly because I am scared that I might not actually be able to fill all spots. And of course that happened here too, luckily I had our travel journal and my hubby's memory available ;) Making this page was especially satisfying, as I got to use up some of the leftovers I had on my desk from making the first page. They still look pretty different, hurray for double-sided paper!

Challenges:
* Lasting Memories (Summer Solstice) I used several elements as borders
* Creatalicious Challenge (AG, optional punches) I used a star punch on one of the borders
* Eclectic Epilau (A Touch of Pink and/or Purple) I used both colours as accents
* Challenge Yourself (Inspirational Picture) Blue Sky paper & photos stacked like the tall buildings; I'm in the picture with my back turned
* My Time to Craft (Summer Time)

Arrows Aplenty

Hi all,

Another week, another challenge at Lasting Memories! This is my second GDT layout for their challenge, this time the challenge is to use lots of hearts or arrows.
I chose to use plenty of arrows for this layout:

When I saw the theme, I immediately thought of this background paper, which got me thinking about the Simple Stories Instasquares pack that I knew I had in my stash for quite a while but hadn't really used yet. I had a lot of fun trying to incorporate as many arrows, see if you can spot them all ;)

Challenges:
Delicious Doodles (Anything but a Card)
Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends (Anything Goes)
Love to Create (Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes; I've used Distress Inks to stencil the arrows)
Doing Life (Anything Goes)
Crafts Galore (Anything Goes)

If you have an idea how to use lots of hearts or arrows on your layout, why not share it with us? There are more fun challenges for the month of February, so check out the blog and play along if you want!

Pinterfail?

Oh Pinterest, why so addictive? I have spent hours on Pinterest pinning other people's creations and sketches, thinking: I should try that, that looks really cool. However, I've never actually used my pins for LOs. What a waste! So I have a fair bit of pins on my board, but I settled for the first sketch/idea with one photo that I liked (https://nl.pinterest.com/pin/44191640072310745/, it's a sketch by Lanette Erickson).

I made a little sketch on a bit of scrap paper and left that next to my LO in progress. The background paper has been in my stash forever, I can't bring myself to purge good quality paper (the flimsy stuff went out recently), even though the front design is way too bold and big for my taste. I can't tell you how often I picked this up and thought: I really want to do something with this, I really like the pattern! Yes, in theory, but it never seemed to work with what I was scrapping. However, when I flipped it around.......this is perfect for my style! Lesson learned :)

Oh yeah, with regard to the sketch: I really only used it as inspiration, as you can see I switched up the title and an embellishment cluster and I journaled straight on the page instead of on strips. It really feels like my layout, even though the original idea might have come from someone else.

Let's Tee Up

Hi everyone,

We did manage to take a day trip last week, despite the variable weather. We went to Kamp Vught, near Den Bosch, that served as a concentration camp during WWII. Later on, it was used to house Nazi collaborators, Germans evacuees and eventually former troops from the East Indies Army and their families from the Moluccas (part of Indonesia). It was very interesting; perhaps not the most joyful location in the Netherlands, but as we both are interested in what happened here during the war and beyond, it had been on our 'to-do' list for some time. We did have some rain during the day, especially when we walked through the woods to the victim's memorial, but other than that we were lucky.

Thank you all for the lovely comments I received on my previous LO, I am only just starting this scrapbooking thing and it's really nice to know other people like my projects. I am pretty happy with what I have created so far and I guess that's the main thing, but still.....thank you :)

Anyway, I'm back with another scrapbooking LO, this time journaling our visit to St Andrews, Scotland last year. I knew I wanted to use the golf scrapbook paper, but had some difficulty to get all the pictures on the page. Perhaps I should have made it a two-page spread, but I wanted to contain it on one page. I think I will be sharing more LO projects with you in the coming time, as I have also started working on our 2012 & 2014 holiday and our 2010 honeymoon books. Plenty of pages to share then ;)
