Challenge #50 Flutterbies!

Good Evening and welcome back for another challenge at Crafty Cardmakers!  Firstly thank you for your fantastic one layer card entries, they really are amazing!
Our next challenge for you is by Gill and she would like to see BUTTERFLIES somewhere on your creation!
Crafty Cardmakers is going on holidays over summer so we'll be back on Monday 5th September with our winners and new challenge!

We're sponsored by The Stampman for this challenge and you could win a £10 voucher to spend in their store and it is jam packed with tons of crafty goodlies to suit all tastes.  They also have their own fantastic range of stamps so please do go check them out.

Here's the teams creations to inspire - I'll add mine in the week when OH back home and my lad stops the meltdowns :/

Have fun & enjoy!

these two cards i have made with my new set of spellbinders the backing paper on the first card is from craftworks with a light embossing on it. edges cut with MS punch mat sentiment tag and flowers and butterfly cut with spellbinders. i inked them with sir tims distress inks while still in the die it's quite effective.
on second card all embelishments made in same way but the BP is whitewash coredination card debossed with the new sizzix letterpress boards again using distressed ink before putting through my vagabond

for my butterfly card I have gone with a MCS image and cut the butterflies out a couple of times and glittered the top ones to give a sparkly effect

The butterfly is a digi from Delicious Doodles which I've printed and coloured with Sakura Stardust pens. I made the paper to match using Photoshop Elements. The border punch is Martha Stewart, the flower is from Prima and the gem is from Poundland and coloured with Promarker. The flower was coloured using Twinkling H2Os.

The butterfly and bird acetates are by K&Company, sentiment is a preprinted one by Anna Griffin.

The background paper is from an 8"sq. pad, but I'm now not sure which company. I stamped the butterflies, onto red vellum, each twice, the first one being stuck to the main card, the second of each are only stuck at the body section, so they appear to be in a flying position. The Tattered Butterflies stamps are from Personal Impressions designed by Lyndsay Mason.

Fiona

For my butterfly card I have used my new stamp called "Daisy with flower bouquet #2" from In2Stamps,
I have paper pieced her dress from dotty paper and coloured the rest of the image with ProMarkers. All of the papers are from the Prima Jack and Jill collection. I used my martha garden trellis punch and a craftwork cards sentiment, and finished off with some butterly peel offs (one coloured in with sakura pens) and some stickles.

I've chosen Tilda this week to assist with my butterflies! Both she and her dog have one and there are several fluttering in the meadow behind them! In case that wasn't enough, there are two die-cut butterflies crusted with stickles top left and a goldtone charm.
My lovely fabric-look papers were from C&C, believe it or not, one of their rare bargains.
You can't see much of the base paper, which is a shame because it's quite lovely, with fairies, butterflies and pink bindweed on a textured ground.
I coloured Tilda, her dog and the meadow in a mix of Copics, Marvy-le-Plume and Stickles!
Hugs.

For my card I got out my Sweet Pea Stamp Dance with Butterflies and coloured the image with Starburst stains, Sakura Stardust pens and Whispers pens so it's got lots of sparkle. My papers are all from K&Co and my butterflies are Cuttlebug Cut and Emboss dies .

As this my choice of theme I decided to go with something I LOVE! So BUTTERFLIES it was!
I decided to try my hand at a wee stepped card and wanted to use my new Magnolia Butterfly coloured with Promarkers! The Papers are Bo Bunny, inked at the edges with distress ink. I used my nesties for the wee centre frame, added flowers from Wild Orchid and lots of giller to finish!

Lin
I started with a piece of blank white card and ink dusted some Big N Juicy ink across it. I then stamped the gorgeous large (almost 6") butterfly from EI in versamark ink and embossed it with Sheena WOW sparkly powder. The BP is from EI from the Graphicus Guild welcome pack. The lace I dyed to match and the flower was from my stash. The little purple bits are various Marianne diecuts and the sentiments is also from EI from the same sheet the butterfly came from.

Sarah W

I have created this card with a resist technique using adirondack inks and a brayer and a butterfly stamp I picked up a while ago. I am not sure what the other stamps are either as I borrowed them at the craft day I went to. The butterfly is made using the same colours in alcohol inks, stamped onto card and cut out to give a 3D effect.

My card has been made using digi's from McMahon Five Designs coloured with Promarkers. Main background paper is from DCWV and the glitter embossed spotty paper is from My Mind's Eye. Scraps of paper and cardstock have been punched with an MS punch and all mats are raised with 3d foam. The wings have been gently curled and a little Sakura glitter has been added.

Lisa

I cut a frame using a go kreate die, then used this as a mask to sponge distress inks through, using 'broken china', 'faded jeans' and 'black soot' inks.  The butterfly and dragonfly stamps are from the Penny Black 'salutations' set and the sentiment is Stampin' Up.  Added a pale blue pearl to the butterfly.

Challenge 47 - Love the lasting kind

Good Afternoon, sorry I'm a bit late!  Thank You for your entries to our embossing challenge, you sure do love that technique either wet or dry!  Winners will be announced n a couple of weeks, sorry if you haven't had a visit yet as several members of the team are still struggling to log into blogger!

Our challenge for you today has been set by Benita and she has chosen the theme "Love the lasting kind"  She would like to see you create something for someone/something you love and why.  There's a lot of teens leaving school and uni this month so a great time to show you care!

We are sponsored for this challenge by The Stampman who are offering a £10 voucher to use in their store, it has a huge amount of crafty items from ribbons to papers to paints and messy things!  Please do pop over as its an aladdins cave for the crafter at great prices!

Over to the girls and what they've created for this challenge!

This week Benita has set us a challenge to make a card to show someone we love and why well I decided to do one of my daughter Amy and the sentiment is just because the reason being with all my problems lately she has made me realise that I am worthwhile and loved dearly so this is why I did this card

                                                                              Caz

Thanks Benita for the lovely challenge of Love, who and why. I chose my grandchildren, well 5 of them,  the 6th was having an afternoon nap.  “My Family Make My Heart Sing”.
The background paper is from Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby Paper Stash.  I stamped two of the words, added Scrabble tiles and used die cut letters.  The heart is a stamp from Papermania, to which I added some glitter.  This is the first time I have used a photo to make a card, I am pleased with the final outcome.

This was a wee challenge for me, only trying to decide who I should be making a wee card for! In the end I picked my Brother! I miss him so much especially just now, with him doing "secret stuff" with the Navy and Special Forces! So I decided to make a wee card using the picture of us before he gave me away! The papers are from my new First Edition Stack, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch and a wee Sibling Quote I found online.

Josephine

And under the flap ...

This was a hard challenge for me, partly because I don't do 'overly sentimental' things. And anyone who knows me well would be worried if I suddenly did a card like that! I also don't put photographs of my family onto public sites like blogger. (Or even use names, so it's has been brushed out of the photos.) Instead, I went for a bit of  humour. My daughter is our youngest, and she's in the midst of AS levels at the moment. She's clever, but she's found it difficult this year, and she's been working hard. So, I wanted to do something to mark the end of the exams, while reminding her that she's only half way there! I think she'll find it funny - she's definitely got a good sense of humour, and she's someone who loves to mark occasions with a card or other creation.

The two digi stamps are coloured with Promarkers, and the piles of books are permission free images that I've added titles to in Photoshop Elements!

Unlike Josephine above me, I am a sentimental old softy. I made this for my Daughter to show her how I see her, which is with beauty radiating from within, as the sentiment says. She has been my rock, my joy and my laughter, since the day she was born when I looked into her little pinched up face and my heart was lost forever. Of course there were moments as she grew that were frustrating, but on the whole she has been a person to be proud of. One whom friends can call on and know she will be there, one who sticks up for what is right no matter what the cost to herself and one who has shown me more love than I could ever wish for. She has filled my heart with love and my life with delight and wonderment and has become my absolute best friend. Sweetheart I love you.

Challenge #43 A Recipe

Hellooooooo!  Welcome back for another challenge at Crafty Cardmakers!  First we'd like to thank you for your fab entries to Melly's "Special Birthday" challenge, the winners will be announced in our round up post in a couple of weeks.

Just a quick reminder that we now have a maximum of combining with 9 other challenges here although you can now enter as many times as you like so please take time to read the rules which are above!

Our next challenge for you is a Recipe by Dee.  Dee would like you to...

Use Yellow as your MAIN COLOUR
Add Ribbon
Use Stitching Faux or real
Use Rhinestones/Gems

We are kindly sponsored for this challenge by The Stampman (and Lady of course!) who are ofering the winner a £10 voucher for their store, you can spend this online, in the shop or if you're lucky enough to see them at a show!  They have a ton of items in store and one of their newest are their FRAMIE STAMPS which are designed to fit exactly into Nestabilites with many more coming in you need to check these out!

Over to the team now, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the challenge!

Dee Hello everyone, I'm hosting the challenge this week and it is a recipe. Use Yellow as the main color and these three embellishments, ribbon, stitching(real or faux) and rhinestones. I thought for this time of year yellow would be perfect. I love this card, it came together very nicely. I started with 2 shape bases that I cut with my Cricut and then layered it in a darker shade of yellow. I pierced and faux stitched around the outside shape with black pen. I stamped and clear embossed the darker shape with a background stamp. I inked up some word paper with yellow and then die cut with a scallop square and attached to front of card and stitched up and down three times over the left two squares. To finish off I added some ribbon, embellishments, and a sentiment.

A lovely spring challenge from Dee, I made this tag, to send to a poorly friend. Poppy seed head stamp is from Elusive Images the ingredients in the recipe are Mainly yellow - Mustard Seed with a touch of wild Honey TH distress inks. Ribbons to tie the tag. Stitching, on a piece of Mulbery paper in the lower corner and finally rhinestones make the dragonfly's head, body and tail. The image in the corner hopefully represents the top of a poppy seed head, made by stamping a flower, gold EP applied, onto vellum.

Eiglas

Materials used:
Yellow background paper - Martha Stewart
Pearl Bazzil - American Crafts
Brown jacquard paper - from stash
Punches - Martha Stewart
Leaves - Sizzix
Flower - Prima
Mottos on bookmarks - K&Co.
The image is, clearly, Magnolia Tilda holding a bee and I coloured her with my lovely Copics - the bee's wings are Stickled!

gill

all papers for this are just out of my stash don't know what make they are think they were qvc kit

the large butterfly sizzix die cut 3 times in patterned vellum pearls for body. small butterflies are martha stewart punches again in vellum with rhinestones down centre orange ribbon doodlebug. yellow ribbon from stash. also used some faux stitching all around edge of butterfly mat. sentiment from dawn bibby kit

The lovely daffodils on this card were drawn by Eiglas I found them on her blog and for a mainly yellow card thought they were just the thing. I coloured them with my promarkers and cut them out. The paper is an old kit from Create and Craft but which one I don't remember. I punched the mat with a punch around the page set and created some faux stitching using a template I borrowed from a friend. I added some ribbon around the planter, a MS butterfly punch coloured with a metallic Sakura pen and some adhesive stones.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for this one so I had a flick through my stash of digi stamps I've got printed out for rainy days and this one by Pink Cat Studio appealed as the challenge is to use yellow and she'd suit yellow.  I've coloured with promarkers then used a brush to add some glue onto the flowers and sprinkled with glamour dust (aka ultra fine crystal glitter)  I added faux stitching with an orange sakura souffle pen and airbrushed the centre of the flowers with yellow promarker which I think makes them look like fried eggs so I might alter that lol!

I have decided to do a tag this time, using Sir T!m Holtz dies, I then dunked them in inkadinks and then a layer of distress inks on them. Added some yellow ribbon along the side, some Rinestones and the faux stitching around the edge ( I cant use a machine at all !!) The sentiments are Sir T!ms Vintage market letter dies.

I really enjoyed this challenge, although i was a little dubious about the stitching part. I generally do faux stitching but from now on I will get the machine out. I used a Tilda stamp and coloured her with Promarkers & Derwent pencils. The papers are a real mish mash as I don't usually yellow so had to have a rummage for them. Added a Martha Steart punched border and some ribbon and then added some Nellie Snellen punched flowers, some large gems and a craftwork cards sentiment.

Jacki

this is wallet card really easy to do just uses 1 piece of card too. I used a LOTV stamp for main image cut it out with nesties the papers are from my own stash I have them a while so don't know who they're by sorry (**Vix also used the same papers and I believe they are papermania lol!) added some rhinestones to corners (pearly ones) and some yellow ribbon and a bit of faux stitching.

For this wee challenge I inked up one of my new stamps that I got for my Birthday and coloured with promarkers! Following a wee sketch I used my yummy Basic Grey papers adding faux stitching round the edges of the layers. The ribbon is stitched through the middle to ruffle it using gold metallic thread. I added gems, flowers and stickles to finish the card.

I made a background image using two digis from Make It Crafty and also printed separately a Mo Manning image called Lacie. I coloured each in with Inktense Watercolour Pencils and layered the finished image onto a piece of DCWV scalloped textured paper which I had first inked with Mustard Seed DI and edged with Dried Marigold DI. I Used the waste from a nestie punch out to form a frame which I placed over the image. I went around the edge of the frame with a lovely stitching stamp which I had forgotten I had (thanks for the reminder Vix!) in Wild Honey. I made some flowers using primas, which I edged with Dried Marigold DT and some ribbon made into bows with a daffodil in the centre, again using Dried Marigold to bring out the centre of the daff. I stuck Lacie on the swing, and voila!

I decided to try out something different for this card, and try my first triple twisted easel! It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, but is soooo effective don't you think? I used a Sweet Pea Stamp Jennifer Nilsson's Daisy Flower Fairy coloured with promarkers for the image and embellished with flowers coloured with promarkers to match. A few rhinestones and a ribbon and here it is.

For the recipe challenge of Mainly yellow, stitching, rhinestones and ribbon I have chosen an image of a Sunflower as it is one of my favourite flowers, they make you so happy just to look at them and of course yellow is a happy colour too. I have coloured with Promarkers, added different shades of yellow paper and faux stitching on each layer. The fabric flowers are from a spray I bought at Poundland, ribbon, button and sentiment from stash. Added 2 small yellow gems to sentiment as a finishing touch.

Challenge #39 - Hearts

Good Afternoon and thank you soooo much for your entries to our last challenge of Floral and our Spotlight on Water which still has a week to run! Some absolutely amazing creations out there! The winners of all closed challenges will be announced on 15th Feb.

CHALLENGE 39 - HEARTS

Lisa has set the theme for this challenge and she wants to see HEARTS! Given Valentines is just next week then I hope we see lots and lots of creations!

Just a quick reminder of the rules - You can create anything, we're called crafty CARDmakers but thats because I couldnt think of anything more inspired lol! So long as you hand craft it and it follows the theme go for it!

We do have a maximum of 3 entries per challenge, this is because some crafters are slower than others so it just makes it a bit fairer.

Please only enter NEW work. We post at 12pm on Mondays so any blog entry timed before this will be deleted sorry.

You need to backlink to our blog so that we know you're wishing to enter. We have seen a huge increase of people entering multiple challenges but then not bothering to link to us. We dont mind how many other challenges you enter but its only fair to others who have taken the time to link back. If you're new and dont know how to do this, there is a tutorial on this here.

Righto!  Onto the challenge!

We're sponsored by The Stampman for this challenge who are offering a £10 voucher to use in their online store, shop or show!  They have a huge variety of products to suit all tastes including Hero Arts, Aspects of Design, Tim Holtz and Ranger and have also recently added some scrummy Prima papers to their range!

Lets see the girls designs!

I've used a large 8" square card blank.  The papers are digi ones from Sweet Shoppe Designs printed onto linen card, with pink linen cardstock from my stash.  The image is a Sugar Nellie 'simply sassy' stamp, coloured with promarkers and koh-i-noor pencils.  Hearts cut on the Cricut (plantin schoolbook cart), numbers cut using the Sizzix 'night & day' alphabet and flat back pearls to finish.
I wanted to do something different for this wee challenge and after having a look through my crafty mags I had an idea to use my fimo! I cut loads of hearts form pinks, reds and white fimo then stamped on to them using a script stamp and some gold embossing ink! Baked the fimo and glossed! The card is made using some free hand-drawn hearts layered up, lots of glitter, some alphabet stickers and the hearts to finish!

For my card this week I decided to make a Male Valentines Day card. It's for my husband, a second attempt as the first one I made him turned out too girly lol. I have used a stamp by CC Designs called Valentino and coloured him with ProMarkers.I have also used some Anita's clear gloss finish on his nose and a little glitter on the heart. The greeting is a stamp from Kanban and I have used my Cricut to cut the little red and black heart. The paper is a freebie from a set over at Summertime Designs.

I made this using a download of vintage bits, but I downloaded its years ago, so im sorry I dont know where I got it from. I made the backing papers with sticky fingers sprays and scrunched it up and swipped with barn door. The Sentiment is a Tim Holtz Salvage Stickers, I punched out lots of hearts and added a bit of glitz with glitter glues.

this card made with k and co papers smitten the hearts all die cut on big shot express flowers and velvet scrollwork from stash.
I've tried something completely different for the heart challenge. I've always wanted to make one of those little altered tins but never found one small enough until last week. This used to be a little tin of mints and measures only 5 x 6.5cm. I have altered it using a small digi image, gems, Love Heart sweeties, ribbons, MS Punch, Die cuts, chipboard, felt and lace.

Ei
I don't usually care for hearts as a motif but as it's Valentine's soon.......!
I just cut a heart shape out of a folded 21cm square card then I cut some iridescent wrapping paper the same size (I just drew round the card) then scalloped it with edging scissors.  Then I edged the card with a narrow blue lace, adhered with narrow ds tape. Some bubble-wrap made the 'cushion and I stuck the iridescent paper over the cushion with silicion glue gel, covering the raw edge of the lace, and held it in place with bulldog clips. I hand-cut the scroll and coloured it with Copics and added embellishments like the MS Heart punch, the eyelet lace and some flowers.

Donna
I just couldn't resist using this adorable Mabelle RO couple for this weeks Hearts challenge. I've coloured them with Promarkers and added punched hearts and also a little pearl heart. I used DCWV papers, Martha Stewart & Hobbycraft punches and Spellbinders, labels 1 & classic hearts nesties. The little flower has a touch of Cosmic Twinkles in the centre.

For this challenge I've used an image by Digistamp Boutique which I won recently and coloured it with Derwent Coloursoft pencils.  I didnt like it at first as I'm a newbie with pencils and I dont colour animals often but I left it and came back to it and it looked better lol!  Background papers are Bearly Mine Designs and I've added a little love charm which I'm surprised I found seeing as my 2 year old got hold of my box of (organised) charms and they're now rather random!

The colours I have chosen this time are fairly masculine but with a bit of shimmer.  I have used cosmic shimmer mists in aqua lagoon and twilight black to create both the paper which I have embossed and cut the 2 paper hearts and also used it to spray paint the stamped plastiroc panel in the the centre of the card.  I then used a long card in a co-ordinating turquoise colour with a panel of silvery shimmery webby background topped onto that.  A piece of sheer black ribbon down the centre to centre the 3 hearts off and the addition of 3 ice blue heart gems to add a bit of bling.  The hearts are embosseed sizzix embosslits and I ran one heart thru with the paper upside down so that the embossing is reversed on them both and also altered the orientation of the heart.
