Cards in Envy Santa Baby

Time for a new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  Create a card that uses anything that makes you think of Santa.  Could be Santa's hat, belt, sleigh or Santa himself!  I decided to make a card with Santa.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy Santa Baby challenge. StampinUp, Tim Holtz Sizzix

This vintage Stampin'Up Santa worked well with the Tim Holtz Sizzix retro Merry Christmas die.  There's just a touch of bling on the Christmas tree and a rinestone on the i in Christmas!  Come on over to the Cards in Envy blog to see what the other design team members did and then link up your Santa cards!

Cards in Envy Favorite Holiday

Time for a new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog.  Create a card featuring ANY Holiday that's one of your favorites.  My favorite Holiday will always be Christmas!  This is similar to a card I made for the Denver Scrapbook Expo card swap we just had.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy Challenge, Christmas Card Stampin Up
I had planned on making a bunch of these cards but I ran out of this ribbon (acquired in the bargain bin after Christmas).  Of course I couldn't find any more of this ribbon and had to change up my Scrapbook Expo swap cards with different ribbon as I had to make 21 cards all the same!  This got me off my rear end to start making Christmas Cards.
Hop on over to the Cards in Envy blog and share your favorite holiday cards (any holiday) with us.

Club Scrap Scandinavian Holiday Linky Party

Today on the Club Scrap blog there is a linky party for the cute Scandinavian Holiday Collection.  Here is a Christmas tag I made from the collection.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap Scandinavian Linky Party. Scandinavia Holiday Collection
The technique I used for the 3D Christmas tree was and idea I got from Jennifer McQuire's blog.  The tree stamps are not quite symmetrical but it still worked out to make a cute 3D tree.  Come check out all the Holiday ideas on the Club Scrap blog with the adorable Scandinavia Holiday collection.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy challenge blog. Christmas Bells Spellbinders

I ordered a Card Kit from Spellbinders and got some cardstock, cute paper, colored diecuts, ribbon and some very nice dies.  I used my spellbinders bell dies for the bells.

Cards in Envy Typography

The new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog is called "Typography."  Create a card using letters, words or a sentiment as the main focus.  This Merry Christmas sentiment from Cherry Lynn is so pretty and is so big it becomes the focus of the card.  I cut it out of 5" tear tape and used silver guilding flakes to cover the die.  Then I cut a black cardstock one to mount on back to give it some lift off the card.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy challenge. Cherry Lynn die. Christmas card.
The black and white carols paper from Stampin'Up made a great background.  I mounted it on metallic silver cardstock and attached a metallic silver bow.

Come see what the rest of the design team's Typography cards look like on the Cards in Envy blog and then link up your Typography card with us.

Cards in Envy Simple, Plain Card

The challenge on the Cards in Envy blog starts today and we are asking for simple, plain cards (Easy as 1, 2, 3).  That was a real challenge for me.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy Simple Cards, Tim Holtz thinlits and Snow Flurries. Memory Box Stencil

I did a stencil background (using distress ink and perfect pearls over the ink) and two die cuts.  That is as simple as I get (LOL)!  I really wanted to start working on Christmas Cards.  Yes, we have about 2 months before it is time to mail out Christmas Cards.
Come check out what the rest of the design team did on the Cards in Envy blog.  Then link up your simple cards with us.

Cards in Envy Celebrate the Season

The new challenge on the Cards in Envy blog is to "Celebrate the Season."  We're looking for Holiday cards (any holiday we celebrate this time of year).  Here's one of my Christmas cards I'll be sending out this year (I sometimes make a few multiples of five but no more than that).

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy blog challenge. Christmas Card

I had one 12 x 12 piece of this great plaid paper left to use as a background.  I decided it would look cute with some punched out trees that are glittered up and a snowy base.  This was a great way to use up scraps of DP for the trees.

Come see what the rest of the design team came up with on the Cards in Envy blog.  Then link up your Holiday cards.

Club Scrap Christmas Thyme BlogHop

It's official -- the shopping has started, the wreaths are hung, trees are decorated and Christmas cards addressed and mailed.  Today at Club Scrap we are having a bloghop with the Christmas Thyme collection to give you ideas for Cards and Scrapbook pages. If you came here from Annette's blog you are in the right place.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop go here to the Club Scrap blog.
After I completed the 20 cards that Tricia gave us Assembly Line Card instructions for, I had cardstock and paper left over because I make 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card fronts and attach them to white folded cardstock.  I was able to make these three cards and a tag and I have enough left over for at least six more cards.

There's gold paper and gold  DP cardstock in the Stamp collection.  I took advantage of that and used Super Fine Detail Gold embossing poweder to glam up the sentiments.  I used a gold paint calligraphy pen to edge some of the cards.  This collection will really help you get ready for Christmas!

TIP:  Here's a great way to stretch your paper even more when making cards fronts.  This is the back of the ornament card where I cut out the pieces needed for the front.  Once it is mounted on a blank card no one will know!

Hop on over to Jill's blog next.  If you get lost you can go back to the Club Scrap blog to find your way.

Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas Bloghop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas blog hop.  If you arrived here from Josette's blog you are in the right place.  If you would like to start at the beginning of the bloghop go HERE.

For this hop I made a card using the Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas Stamps.

CraftyColonel Donna Nuce for Club Scrap Watercolor Christmas Bloghop, Christmas Card
I'll admit I was a little challenged by the bird stamp but if you let it dry after you stamp (I stamped wet on wet paper) then you can go back and add details with a fine brush to give the bird form.  I used Sanketi's birds as examples to finish off mine.  I used Arches Aquarelle Cold Pressed 140 Lb 3.9" x 9.8" Watercolor Block to stamp the bird.  Watercolor Blocks are fabulous because you don't have to tape your paper down. Bird is stamped with Ranger Barn Door Distressed Ink (Distressed inks really are fabulous for watercolor) and details added with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Watercolor pens and a #2 Round Watercolor brush.   I used a white gel pen for the bird's eye.  I loaded my #2 brush with red and then gold ink and tapped it on my finger to get the sprinkles around the bird.

The card is made with items from the Club Scrap Moroccan Spice Club Stamp kitEmbellishment Pack and Club Scrap Metallic Ink Gold.    The joy stamp I used is from the Club Scrap Lock & Key because it was small enough to fit on my tag.

Now head on over to Anne Marie's blog.

Shopping Our Stash Western

I just barely had time to get this card done for the Shopping Our Stash Western Challenge.  This is a Christmas card for a dear friend who has horses.  I wanted to have them peeking through the barn window with Christmas greenery.

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Shopping Our Stash Challenge, Impression Obsession horse stamp, SU Hardwood, Christmas Card

I used an Impression Obsession stamp I have had for a while and had not used.  I watercolored it.  Stampin'Up Hardwood and Versatile Christmas on the barn door.

Cards in Envy Extra Layers

Our challenge for the next two weeks on the Cards in Envy blog is to "Put some extra layers on."  You can have layers on your card or images depicting lots of layers (sweaters, scarfs, coats etc).  I chose to layer my card.  All counted there are 7 layers on this card but it still fits in a standard A2 envelope (a requirement for our challenge).

Crafty Colonel Donna Nuce for Cards in Envy Challenge Blog, CTMH Pear & Partridge, Christmas Card

I had a scrap of this Close to My Heart Pear and Partridge paper left.  I double stamped the sentiment in brown and covering up the merry little Christmas part and then again in red over the brown.  I added a few little stickles over the card for some shine.
Come join us on the Cards in Envy blog and see what the marvelous Design Team has cooked up.  Then add your card to the challenge!

CASE-ing Christmas CASE-ing Myself

It's time for another CASE-ing Christmas challenge.  This month we are CASE-ing one of my cards.

Inspired by Stamping, Crafty Colonel, Whimsical Banners, Elegant Christmas Sentiments, Christmas Card

The original card was made using non-Christmas stamps for a Christmas card.
This time I used Christmas Stamps to make my CASE.  The sky has some Wink of Stella on it for sparkle.  I used the Stampin'Up! Jingle All the Way Stamps and the Sleigh Ride Edgelits.  The snowflake gems are from the Oriental Trading Company.
