VENOM - AT WAR WITH SATAN

Released in 1984, At War With Satan is Venom's third album. At War With Satan is a daring and conceptual album, as the theme presented in this work tells the story of an apocalyptic war between Heaven and Hell, in which Hell wins in the end (of course, this is Venom, damn it!). As for for the musical side that is heavy and evil, the title track with its twenty minutes stands out, because its duration time was the opposite presented by the bands of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), besides the demonstration of technique and mastery of the instruments by band members. The other tracks also have their brilliance and fury like "Rip Ride", "Genocide" (listening to this track today shows that Venom is one of the sources and influences of bands like Whipstriker and Midnight, for example), "Stand Up (And Be Counted)": "Come on, raise your hands. We are the black metal gods. V.E.N.O. Fucking M." and "Women, Leather and Hell". Originally At War With Satan was released on LP with seven tracks in total and its CD reissue contains bonus tracks. The cover art resembles the cover of a book, or rather a black bible, which makes this album more offensive and Anti-Christian.  At War With Satan still shares the opinions of Venom fans, I like this album and listen with pleasure. Simply from hell!

Lançado em 1984, At War With Satan é o terceiro álbum da Venom. At War With Satan é um álbum ousado e conceitual, já que a temática apresentada neste trabalho fala a história sobre uma guerra apocalíptica entre o Céu e o Inferno, na qual o Inferno vence no final (claro, isso é Venom, porra!). Quanto ao lado musical que é pesado e maligno, a faixa-título com seus vinte minutos se destaca, pois o seu tempo de duração era o oposto apresentado pelas bandas da NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal), além da demonstração de técnica e domínio dos instrumentos pelos membros da banda. As outras faixas também tem o seu brilho e fúria como "Rip Ride", "Genocide" (ao escutar essa faixa hoje, percebe-se que a Venom é uma das fontes e influências de bandas como Whipstriker e Midnight, por exemplo), "Stand Up (And Be Counted)": "Come on, raise your hands. We are the black metal gods. V. E. N. O. Fucking M." e "Women, Leather and Hell". Originalmente, At War With Satan foi lançado em LP com sete faixas no total e o seu relançamento em CD contém faixas bônus. A arte de capa lembra a capa de um livro, ou melhor, uma bíblia negra, o que torna esse álbum mais ofensivo e anti-cristão. Apesar de At War With Satan ainda dividir as opiniões dos admiradores da Venom, eu acho esse álbum massa e escuto com muito gosto e prazer. Simplesmente from hell!

"Storm The Gates" foi lançado em dezembro de 2018 e é o décimo quinto álbum de estúdio da Venom. O power trio que compõem a Venom hoje é o mesmo com dez anos de estrada juntos e a pegada desse álbum de 2018 continua a mesma do registro anterior "From The Very Depths" de 2015, porém a produção de "Storm the Gates" está mais suja e crua. As melhores faixas são são "Bring Out Your Dead", "I Dark Lord", "The Mighty Have Fallen", "Over My Dead Body" e "Suffering Dictates". Bom! Venom: Cronos (baixo e vocal), Rage (guitarra) e Danté (bateria). 

"Storm The Gates" was released in December 2018 and is Venom's fifteenth studio album. The power trio that make up Venom today is the same as it has been for ten years on the road together and the musical rhythm of that 2018 album remains the same as the previous record "From The Very Depths" from 2015, however the production of "Storm the Gates" is dirtier and more crude. The best tracks are "Bring Out Your Dead", "I Dark Lord", "The Mighty Have Fallen", "Over My Dead Body" and "Suffering Dictates". Good! Venom: Cronos: (bass and vocals), Rage (guitars) and  Danté (drums).

Neste momento os amantes e admiradores da Venom estão divididos, pois existem duas bandas. A primeira é a Venom da qual acabou de lançar esse álbum e a outra é a Venom Inc. composta por Demolition Man, Mantas e Abaddon (essa formação gravou três álbuns com a Venom). Eu acho isso massa, pois você pode escutar as duas bandas e isso é interessante (você também tem a opção de gostar ou não dessas bandas). Bom, "From The Very Depths" é o novo álbum da Venom lançado em 2015 e está bom. Musicalmente a banda está soando mais "moderna", como algo já feito a partir de "Ressurection". Aliás, isso não é nenhuma novidade. Destaque para as faixas: "The Death of Rock'n'Roll" (estilo Motörhead), "Smoke", "Long Haired Punks" (ótima letra), "Stigmata Satanas" e "Evil Law" (essa música lembrou algo feito pelo Slayer... sem problemas). A capa foi feita pelo Nikos Outsikas e está legal... Eu tenho a impressão que estou vendo o Cronos desenhado nesta arte. Venom: Cronos (vocal/baixo), Rage (guitarra) e Danté (bateria). 

At this time the lovers and admirers of Venom are divided because there are two bands. The first is the Venom which just released this album and the other is the Venom Inc. which is composed by Demolition Man, Mantas and Abaddon (this lineup recorded three albums with Venom). I think it's good because you can listen to both bands and it's interesting (you also have the option to like or dislike these bands). Well, "From The Very Depths" is the new album Venom released in 2015 and it is a good record. Musically the band is sounding more "modern" as something already done from "Resurrection". Incidentally, this is nothing new. Emphasis on the tracks: "The Death of Rock'n'Roll" (Motörhead style), "Smoke", "Long Haired Punks" (great lyrics), "Stigmata Satanas" and "Evil Law" (this song reminded me of something made by Slayer... no problem). The cover art is made by Nikos Outsikas and is pretty cool... I got the impression that I see Cronos designed on this art. Venom: Cronos (vocals/bass), Rage (guitar) and Danté (drums).
