MEMORIAM - REQUIEM FOR MANKIND

Since Memoriam debuted with For The Fallen in 2017, they have become one of my favorite bands, because their sound is really great and represents what I like, admire and makes me head-bang. In 2019, this was no different with Requiem For Mankind, their third and last album, completing the trilogy of the English quartet Memoriam. Requiem For Mankind contains ten very heavy, contagious and brutal tracks that follow the rhythm and firepower of the previous two albums very well, and that's very positive, as both For The Fallen and The Silent Vigil were two of the best albums of the year in my opinion (you can check out the list of highlights of the year 2017 [click here] and 2018 [click here]). The songs like "Shell Shock", "Undefeated", "Never The Victim", "Austerity Kill", "In The Midst of Desolation", "Refuse to Be Led", "The Veteran", "Requiem For Mankind", "Fixed Bayonets" and "Interment" (instrumental track) prove this. Yes, my friends, I put the entire track list on the album here to show you that Requiem For Mankind is a violent record from start to finish, it is so great that when you finish listening to the CD, LP or digital format, you will automatically want to hear it again. The cover art, that matches the album title very well, was another brilliant piece of work done by Dan Seagrave (man, this art is just magnificent, damn it!). Russ Russell (Tronos and ex-Meathook Seed) was responsible for production, mixing and mastering. The Brazilian Marcelo "Mantus" Vasco (Mysteriis and Patria) was in charge of the design and layout of the record. Man, as you noticed, I praised this album a lot and I hope you dear readers have the same opinion, because Requiem For Mankind is undoubtedly one of the best records of 2019. Thank you, Memoriam!

Desde quando a Memoriam estreou com For The Fallen em 2017, eles se tornaram uma das minhas bandas favoritas, pois o som que eles fazem é realmente foda e representa aquilo que eu gosto, admiro e bato-cabeça. Em 2019, isso não foi diferente com Requiem For Mankind, o terceiro e até então o último álbum lançado por eles, concretizando assim a trilogia do quarteto inglês Memoriam. Requiem For Mankind contém dez faixas muito pesadas, contagiantes e brutas que seguem muito bem o ritmo e o poder de fogo dos dois álbuns anteriores e isso é bastante positivo, já que tanto For The Fallen quanto The Silent Vigil foram um dos melhores álbuns do ano quando lançados em minha opinião (você pode conferir a lista dos destaques do ano de 2017 [clique aqui] e 2018 [clique aqui]). Uma prova disso são músicas como "Shell Shock", "Undefeated", "Never The Victim", "Austerity Kill", "In The Midst of Desolation", "Refuse to Be Led", "The Veteran", "Requiem For Mankind", "Fixed Bayonets" e "Interment" (faixa instrumental). Sim, meus amigos, eu colequei toda a track list do álbum para mostrar para vocês que Requiem For Mankind é um registro violento do início ao fim e que quando termina de escutar o CD, LP ou no formato digital, você automaticamente vai ouvir novamente de tão bom que é. Com relação a arte de capa do que condiz muito bem com o título do álbum foi mais um trabalho brilhante realizado por Dan Seagrave (cara, essa arte ficou chapada demais, puta que pariu!). Russ Russell (Tronos e ex-Meathook Seed) foi o responsável pela produção, mixagem e masterização. O brasileiro Marcelo "Mantus" Vasco (Mysteriis e Patria) ficou encarregado do design e layout do registro. Cara, como você percebeu, eu elogiei bastante este álbum e espero que o caro leitor tenha a mesma opinião, pois Requiem For Mankind é sem dúvidas um dos melhores registros de 2019. "For The Fallen" foi simplesmente o ataque perfeito e magistral, sendo para mim o melhor álbum de 2017. Em 2018, a Memoriam está de volta a frente de batalha com "The Silent Vigil", o segundo álbum. "The Silent Vigil" segue com a mesma artilharia pesada do álbum anterior, ou seja, o som está ultra pesado, agressivo, contagiante e com letras bem feitas que vão te fazer pensar e refletir. Esse álbum é completamente explosivo e a melhor música é "From The Flames", mas devo destacar também "Nothing Remains", "Bleed The Same", "As Bridges Burn", "The New Dark Ages" e "Weaponised Fear". A arte de capa é mais outro trabalho brilhante de Dan Seagrave. Enfim, "The Silent Vigil" é um álbum foda e é sem dúvida um dos melhores registros de 2018. 


"For The Fallen" was simply the perfect and most masterful attack, for me the best album of 2017. In 2018, Memoriam is back on the battlefield with "The Silent Vigil", the second album. "The Silent Vigil" follows with the same heavy artillery from the previous album, that is, the sound is ultra heavy, aggressive and contagious with well written lyrics that will make you think and reflect. This album is completely explosive and the best song is "From The Flames", but I must also highlight "Nothing Remains", "Bleed The Same", "As Bridges Burn", "The New Dark Ages" and "Weaponised Fear". Cover art is another brilliant work by Dan Seagrave. Anyway, "The Silent Vigil" is a great fucking album, undoubtedly one of the best records of 2018.

MEMORIAM - FOR THE FALLEN

According to Karl Willetts, Memoriam is a band that was formed as a tribute to Martin "Kiddie" Kearns (drummer from Bolt Thrower who died 2015). With this idea, Karl joined forces with Frank Healy (bass - Sacrilege, ex-Benediction, ex-Cerebral Fix), Andrew Whale (drums - ex-Colostomy, ex-Bolt Thrower) and Scott Fairfax (guitars - Benediction [live], ex-Cerebral Fix) and created an album that is ultra heavy and magnificent, in which the lyrical themes are death, loss, war and politics. Each song from For The Fallen is like as a declaration of war, an assault against the enemy but I highlight "Memoriam", "War Rages On", "Flatline", "Surrounded (by Death)", "Resistance" and "Last Words" (special guest of Lynda Hughes - Sacrilege) as the tracks that represent the best attacks and offense. The artwork is spectacular and perfectly conveys the idea of the album, it was made by Dan Seagrave. For The Fallen is a great album that will please fans of Bolt Thrower, Benediction, Sacrilege, death metal, thrash metal and crust in general. Conclusion: one of the best records of 2017.

Segundo Karl Willetts, a Memoriam é uma banda que foi formada como um tributo ao Martin "Kiddie" Kearns (baterista da Bolt Thrower que faleceu em 2015). Com essa ideia, Karl juntou forças a Frank Healy (baixo - Sacrilege, ex-Benediction, ex-Cerebral Fix), Andrew Whale (bateria - ex-Colostomy, ex-Bolt Thrower) e Scott Fairfax (guitarra - Benediction [ao vivo], ex-Cerebral Fix) e criaram um álbum simplesmente ultra pesado e magnífico, na qual os temas líricos são a morte, perda, derrota, guerra e a política. Cada música de For The Fallen é como um revide, um assalto contra o inimigo, mas eu destaco "Memoriam", "War Rages On", "Flatline", "Surrounded (by Death)", "Resistance" e "Last Words" (com participação especial de Lynda Hughes - Sacrilege) como as faixas que representam os melhores ataques e ofensivas. A arte de capa que é espetacular e transmite perfeitamente a ideia do álbum foi feita por Dan Seagrave. For The Fallen é um álbum do caralho que vai agradar os admiradores da Bolt Thrower, Benediction, Sacrilege, death metal, thrash metal e crust em geral. Conclusão: um dos melhores registros de 2017!
