GATECREEPER - DESERTED

The moment I write these words it is summer in Arizona, the heat is intense and when the rain comes it makes the temperature more refreshing, a relief, because the desert is cruel (important notice: when I wrote this it was actually summer in Arizona, but I am posting this review only now, that is, it is winter in the northern hemisphere at this very moment). From the same US state that borders Mexico, comes Gatecreeper that released the album Deserted in 2019. The task here is simple. Did you like their first album called Sonoran Depravation? If yes, so then you will like Deserted, because the chemistry is the same, that is, Gatecreeper's sound is a good mix of Swedish and American death metal, which attracts those who enjoy both scenes. Deserted consists of eleven tracks, of which highlight "Deserted", "From The Ashes", "Ruthless", "Sweltering Madness", "Boiled Over" and "Anxiety". A good album.

No momento em que escrevo essas palavras, é verão no Arizona, o calor é intenso e, quando a chuva vem, deixa a temperatura mais refrescante, um alívio, pois o deserto é cruel (aviso importante: quando eu escrevi isso era de fato verão no Arizona, mas estou postando somente agora este review, ou seja, é inverno no hemisfério norte neste exato momento). Desde mesmo estado norte-americano que faz fronteira com o México, vem o Gatecreeper que lançou em 2019 o álbum Deserted. A tarefa aqui é simples. Você gostou do primeiro álbum deles chamado Sonoran Depravation? Se sim, então vai gostar de Deserted, pois a química é a mesma, ou seja, o som do Gatecreeper é uma boa mistura de death metal sueco com o americano, o que atrai quem curte ambas as cenas. Deserted é composto por onze faixas, das quais destacam "Deserted", "From The Ashes", "Ruthless", "Sweltering Madness", "Boiled Over" e "Anxiety". Um bom álbum.

Gatecreeper é uma banda relativamente nova e os caras são do Arizona e quando se fala desde estado norte americano logo vem a cabeça a Sepultura, já que os brasileiros moraram em Phoenix por muitos anos (aliás, o Max Cavalera ainda reside em Phoenix). Entretanto, a musicalidade da Gatecreeper é diferente do que foi feito pela Sepultura no passado. Gatecreeper é uma banda death metal bem influenciada pela cena sueca, em outras palavras, Dismember é certamente a maior influência deles. Claro, você também vai perceber a influência do death metal americano no som deles (neste caso a Obituary é a referência). "Sonoran Depravation" foi lançado em 2016 e é um álbum muito bom, ou seja, cheio de agressividade, fúria e energia. Destaque para as faixas "Craving Flesh", "Desperation", "Rotting as One" e "Lost Forever". Em suma, Gatecreeper é uma das novas bandas de death metal que estão para foder tudo daqui pra frente e "Sonorah Depravation" é a prova disso, pois é um dos melhores álbuns lançados em 2016. Foda!


Gatecreeper is a relatively new band and the guys are from Arizona and when you talk about this North American state, I think of Sepultura, since the Brazilians have lived in Phoenix for many years (in fact, Max Cavalera still lives in Phoenix). However, Gatecreeper's musicality is different from what Sepultura has done in the past. Gatecreeper is a death metal band well influenced by the Swedish scene, in other words, Dismember is certainly their biggest influence. In short, Gatecreeper is one of the new death metal bands that are on stage to destroy everything and "Sonorah Depravation" is proof of this as it is one of the best albums released in 2016. Great!
