Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - First 100 Dies

Happy New Year and welcome to the first Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month's challenge is "The First 100 Dies."  We were to use any of Karen's dies from #1001 through #1100.  It was fun using some of the dies we may have not used for some time.  This is my card.   The dies used on the front of my card are #1030 Happy Birthday and the balloons from #1069 Explosion Pop-up.  I added some accents to the "Happy Birthday" and the heart balloons using a white gel pen.

The inside of my card uses quite a few of those "oldies but goodies:"#1004 Birthday Charms, #1023 Tag Book Pop-up, #1050 Sweet Treat Charms, #1055 Ovals Crosshatch, and #1090 Border Blends - Argyle.

It was fun pulling out some of the dies I haven't used in a while.  Sometimes you get so busy using the newer dies that you forget about some of the previously released ones.  This challenge gave us that opportunity.  I'm glad you stopped by my blog and hope you will remember some of those older dies you haven't used lately.

Happy 4th of July

God Bless America!  Happy 4th of July!

I love making cards for this holiday, so I couldn't let the day pass without showing you one of the ones I made this year.  I used the Karen Burniston Tag Book Pop-up and the new Music Charms.  The music on the front of my card is the first line of America the Beautiful.

To make the trumpets face in both directions, I cut two of them from the front of the gold foil paper and two from the back.  They are all popped up on foam.

I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating the birth of our country.

C4C588 Cupcake Day

The Crazy4Challenges team is celebrating Cupcake Day, which is Monday, June 14th.  I tried my hand at a mini slimline card with the Karen Burniston Tag Book Pop-Up on the inside.  I found an old cupcake-related stamp set in my stash which was perfect for this card.

Check out the Crazy4Challenges blog to see how the rest of the team celebrates this yummy holiday!

CCEE1931 Die Cut and Ribbon

Anne starts her month off as hostess for the CCEE Stampers with a good challenge -- create a card with a die cut and be sure to add a ribbon.

I've got a fun Christmas card made with several Karen Burniston dies -- mainly the Tag Book Pop-Up and the Train Pivot Panels.

And you'll notice that there are a couple of bows on the tag ends, so the "ribbon" part was covered as well.

Be sure to check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see some more die cut/ribbon cards.

CCEE1902 Happy Birthday, Elvis!

Liz continues as the CCEE Stampers hostess this week, reminding us that Elvis Presley's birthday is this week (January 8th).  She challenged us to make him come alive in some way on our cards.  Maybe a rock and roll theme, records, an Elvis or guitar stamp, or perhaps even "Blue Suede shoes."  I included almost all of those things on my Pop-Up Tag Book card, using both stamps and computer images.

Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers blog to see some more cards dedicated to the King of Rock 'n Roll!

Wizard Houses

As a big Harry Potter fan, one of the first things to pop into my head when I saw the new Karen Burniston House Pivot Panel die was Hogwarts with its four wizard houses.  I thought it would be fun to cut out the houses in the colors of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin.  I didn't have these dies in time for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge last week, the theme of which was "HOUSE.," so this is actually my second card for the challenge.

I used the new House Pivot Panels die along with the Tag Book Pop-Up die to create my card.  The front of the tag book has character stamps from Students of Magic and Masters of Magic from Kindred Stamps, colored with Copic markers  The sentiment was printed on my computer and cut out with a Die-Namics word bubble die.  I cut a strip of woodgrain patterned paper with the tag die.

For the inside, I wanted to have a bit of scenery, so I adhered some lightweight sky and grass paper onto a white piece of cardstock and cut out the pop-up panel from the House Pivot Panels die.  In her video, Karen Burniston suggested putting additional background panels cut from the Twist Panel Pop-Up die on either side of the background panels; but, because I was putting trees from the Evergreen Pivot Panels rather than houses on the outside two house panels, I chose not to do that.  I wanted as much of the background scenery to show as possible.

I cut the house die pieces from cardstock from the Harry Potter Cardstock Collection from Character World and added some House pennant stickers from Kindred Stamps.

Here's a close-up of the houses so that you can see them more clearly and also see the pennants.

By the way, I'm a Hufflepuff!
