Christmas in July

Who doesn't like Christmas in July?  And for that reason, I have a Christmas card made with the new Karen Burniston Arch Pop-up die along with several others.

The front of my 5" x 7" card features the Postage Pop-up, released earlier in the year, along with the Poinsettia die.  I thought the Echo Park I Love Christmas patterned paper was the perfect background.

When you open the card, the new Arch Pop-up takes center stage.

Decorating the arch is the smaller poinsettia, along with holly leaves from the Pattern Plate - Holly and pine sprigs from the Poinsettia set.  At each end of the arch is a Christmas tree made with the Christmas Tree Pop Stand set from a few years ago.  To make the tree skirts, I cut out circles from the Circles - Crosshatch set, cut them in half and notched out just a little bit at the center.  I then glued them back in place at the front and back of the upright pieces which hold the trees.  The garlands across the top of the Echo Park paper at the bottom are from Fireplace Extras 1.  The sentiments on the front and inside are from Karen's Season of Cheer clear stamp set, cut out with two different dies from Rectangles and Labels - Crosshatch set.

I had originally cut the arch from white cardstock but decided that some green behind all the foliage would look better, so I cut pieces from some patterned paper and glued it over the white arch.  I didn't realize until I was finished that a little strip of white is showing beneath the green.  I was going to try to trim it off but decided against it.  Here is a close-up of the arch.

Karen Burniston New Release Sneak Peek Day 3

What I like about Karen Burniston's dies is that they are, as Karen has said, backward compatible, meaning that new dies coordinate with old dies.  One of the previously released dies was the Triple Platform Pop-up, which is a very fun die.  I have combined that with the new Movie Night Charms for my sneak peek today.

The new dies are on the front of my card, along with the Postage Pop-up panel.  I decorated the Paper People with some Tiny Accessory charms to make them look they're from a western movie.

Then, on the inside, is the Triple Platform Pop-up decorated with the Popcorn die and sentiments from the Movie Night clear stamp sentiments.  The clapboard and movie tickets are also part of the Movie Night Charms set.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Come back tomorrow for another sneak peek and be sure to check out the blog hop next week for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Karen Burniston website.

Karen Burniston New Release - Day 6

All week I've been showing some sneak peeks at the new Karen Burniston dies.  Today I've got a card made with the Fishing Boat Add-ons to the previously released Boat Pop-up.  My late husband was an avid fisherman, and I'd like to think that he would love this Father's Day card.

The front of the card features the Postage die from the last release with bits and pieces from this release -- the sentiment comes from the new Fishing stamp set, the bucket and fish are part of the Fishing Boat Add-ons, and the fisherman was made with the Paper People set along with the hat from the Fishing Boat Add-ons.  Those waves behind the Postage collage were made with one of the new Ocean Edges dies.

I just love the fishing rod die from the Fishing Boat Add-ons set.  The fishing line is nice and thin.  This set also includes the motor and seat for the boat.  I included another one of the sentiments from the Fishing stamp set as well.

Craft Roulette #246

I have recently been doing challenges with Craft Roulette.  The idea of this challenge is to take four different parameters (project, colors, element, and random) picked by spinning a wheel and make a card.  This week's parameters were Project/Holiday Card, Colors/Trees, Element/Drinking Vessel, and Random/Something from your floor.

I met these parameters as follows:

Holiday Card -- New Years card

Trees -- shades of green (even though they appear tan in the photo)

    Drinking Vessel -- Champagne glass

Something from your floor -- My cardstock is in boxes stored on the floor.

I used several of Karen Burniston's dies on this card:  Postage Pop-up, Fireworks, and Mini Alphabet and Numbers, as well as a stamp from her Season of Cheer stamp set.

I'm enjoying the challenge each week and was glad I could incorporate some of Karen's dies in my card.

Happy Thanksgiving

I was playing with the new Karen Burniston Postage Pop-up yesterday and pulled out several other sets to go with it.  On the front of my 5" x 5" card I used both Autumn Elements and Word Set 7 - Autumn.

On the inside you'll find the new Postage Pop-up.  I have found that I like the look of sponging through the openings in the main die so that there is a rim around the layering pieces.  I again added pieces from Autumn Elements (the pumpkin), as well as Oven Extras (the cooked turkey), Picnic Elements (the pie), Feathered Animals (the other turkey), and Word Set 7 - Autumn.  Celebrate is a die of its own, and the two small leaves are stamps that I found in my stash.

This is a real fun, generic die set.  You could use it for any purpose.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month we had a choice of two themes -- "AUTUMN or CHRISTMAS CHEER."  I decided to choose "AUTUMN."

One of the new dies just released was the Postage Pop-up.  I haven't used it much, so I decided to give it a little love today.  On the front I just let some pretty fall leaves have center stage.  I cut out the centers of the four "postage stamps" and let them show through.  The sentiment is from a Simple Sentiments stamp set from Taylored Expressions.

But on the inside, I added some Thanksgiving symbols to the stamps.  The simple pop-up box under that panel raises it up.

I think I used all the dies in the Autumn Elements set on that collage.  The turkey on the smaller pop-up is from Feathered Animals.  The "Happy Thanksgiving" is from Word Set 3 - Holiday.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you come back agin.
