CCEE1612 - Frances' Birthday

Happy birthday to Frances!  In honor of that, the CCEE Stampers all created cards using things she loves -- owls and interaction (cards that pop-up, flip, or pull open).

Stop over at the CCEE Stampers blog to see the rest of the wishes from the team.  We all wish you the very best, Frances!

CCEE1535 Bow Tie Day

Frances informed the CCEE stampers that tomorrow (August 28) is Bow Tie Day, so she asked us to include some sort of a bow on our cards this week.  It didn't necessarily have to be a bow tie, as long as it was a bow.  I decided to add a bit of whimsy on my card this week.  In order for the tie to tuck under my owl's beak, I cut a second beak and popped it on after I had attached the bow tie.   He's all dressed up in his red plaid bow tie!

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see how the rest of the team handled this challenge.

CCEE1521 - Fabric and Corrugated Paper

This week Joanne asked the CCEE Stampers to use fabric and corrugated paper on our cards/projects. The fabric was to be something other than ribbon.  I hope my piece of burlap will count as fabric.  I used a crimper to create my corrugated paper.

Check out the CCEE Stampers blog to see what the rest of team created for Joanne.

SCS Inspiration Challenge - Candle Pinterest Board

The Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers is my favorite one of the week.  For today's inspiration site, Audrie chose her Favorite Candles Pinterest Board.  What wonderful choices we had for inspiration -- so much so that I actually made two projects -- one card and one tag.

For my card, I chose this gorgeous candle which reminded me of hyacinths, so I used my new ODBD Hyacinth set to create a birthday card in the colors on the candle.

I stamped the image twice and cut out the center frame, which I popped up on foam dots.  I am entering this card in the Our Daily Bread Designs Anything Goes challenge.

For my tag, I chose these owl candles and used a new Elizabeth Craft Designs tag die called Tags & More 3 - Leaves.  I cut the tag out twice, once in dark green and once in white.   For the white one, I also used the leaves die at the top.

I love using googlie eyes on my owls.  It makes them look wiser, don't you think?

I'm not an official part of today's blog hop, but I do have a couple of cards for you today. Several years ago I discovered a website, Page Maps, which for the most part is for scrapbook layouts. But they have a quarterly section with layouts for greeting cards also. So each day this week, I'm going to use one of the layouts from the current (October 2014) section. This is the layout for my first card:

And here is my card loosely using this layout:

I eliminated some of the elements and moved the sentiment to the top.

This set has two owl images in it, and I used the other (larger) one on another card.

I cut the W H O O letters out of the same "wood" paper that I used for the background on my first card. And I don't know if you can see them, but I put some circular "dew drops" on his eyes to make them bulge a little bit more.

Be sure to visit the member of the official blog hop team for today and comment often for a chance to win a free stamp set.
