Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Letter

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month's theme is "Letter."  We could interpret this any way we wanted -- use a letter in the mail, or maybe just a letter of the alphabet.  I chose the second and made a birthday card/gift for a 3-year old -- some letter blocks.

Using both the Alphabet set and the Mini Alphabet and Numbers set, I made a Slider Box with pop-out blocks, adding a matching birthday card.  Google images provided the small blocks on both the card and the box.

Be sure to check out the "Letter" cards made by the rest of the team, and maybe you'd like to play along with us.  It was fun!

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek 4

I've got another Halloween card made with one of the new Karen Burniston dies -- Character Add-on 1.  This set allows you to change either the Surprise Ball Pop-Up or the Bitty Ball Pop-Up into a Halloween character.  The front of my card gives you a hint as to where this card is going.

It's Count Dracula!!!  I also used the Happy Halloween sentiment and shadow.

As you can see, I used velcro spots to hold the card in the closed position.   Here's a close-up of the Count.

Sneak peek week is almost over, and the dies will be available on Monday, August 9th.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- Tag Books

The Karen Burniston Designer Challenge for July is to use one of the KB Tag Books -- either as the card itself or as an element inside a standard-size card.  I went the second route, using the Circle Tag Book inside my A2 card.

The front of my card lets you know that July is National Picnic Month.  Using the Alphabet set, I spelled out JULY.  Then I added a picnic blanket and some other picnic elements. "National Picnic Month" was done with a label maker.

After cutting the grass panels using one of the dies in the Nature's Edges set, I glued in the Circle Tag Book and added some more picnic items -- a watermelon slice, some fruit, a cupcake and a pie from various KB die sets.

I hope you like my tribute to National Picnic Month.

C4C547 - Sweet 16

Tomorrow (8/9) is Crazy4Challenges' DT member's (Tracey Farr) daughter Melissa's 16th birthday.  So she asked the team to make a "Sweet 16" card.

I used the Karen Burniston Ice Cream Sundae die to make my card.

Be sure to check out the Crazy4Challenges blog for some more birthday wishes for Melissa.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - DOUBLE

It's time for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge once again.  And this month's theme is such fun - make a card using a doubling theme.   This could be a double Pivot Panel, a double Katherine, a double Surprise Ball, or any fun combination of two different pop-up dies.  As I am thoroughly hooked on the Surprise Ball Pop-Up and thought Karen's billboard card for last month's challenge was so creative, I wanted to try a double Surprise Ball Pop-Up Billboard.  I was trying to think of a theme when "Love and Marriage" popped into my head -- so a wedding card was my choice.

Because of the two billboards, I had to make a much larger card -- this one is 5 1/2" x 11".  The front is very clean and simple -- leaving the drama for the inside.  The silvery paper on the front is from a 12" x 12" pad of silver foil cardstock I found at Michaels.  I used one of the dies from the Tropical Landscape set for my scallops.

I used two pair of 1/4" magnets to hold down the flap at the bottom.

I had some wedding paper left from a project I did many years ago and used it for the background of the inside of my card. (That shows that hoarding paper sometimes is a good idea.  My son and his wife have been married for 11 years!)  Karen's Valentine card last month had hearts going around the edge of her billboard, and I "borrowed" that idea for my wedding card, substituting glittery silver paper for some of the hearts.  The "Love & Marriage" sentiment was made using the Karen Burniston Alphabet dies.

Going in a totally different direction, I made a second card for the "DOUBLE" challenge.  My grandson loves the Minions, so I thought I'd try to make one.

Karen Burniston Pop-Up dies are so much fun, and doubling them up just makes it that much more fun!  Check out the rest of the DT double-up cards for some more creative ideas.

Happy New Year!!!

I want to wish all my friends a very Happy New Year!  Here we are at the beginning of a new year and a new decade -- where has the time gone?

To celebrate the new year I made a pop-up card using the Karen Burniston Surprise Ball Pop-Up and some fun My Favorite Things stamps.

When you open the card, up pops the ball -- complete with fireworks and champagne and/or wine glasses.

Here's a close-up of the ball so you can see the wine glasses a little better.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and again I wish you all a wonderful and productive new year!
