May 21st marked our 4 year wedding anniversary! We decided to get away for the night, and go up to our favorite local resort - Barnsley Gardens. We have celebrated a few special days up there, and always find it the perfect escape (without going to far). When we arrived, we rented a golf cart for some sight seeing, and it was a great way to get around the gardens and golf course. We took a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers with us - and had a private picnic! (it was super romantic) Then we enjoyed good food, more wine, and massages at the spa. What a perfect way to relax and celebrate.

Family Weekend in Hiawassee
This past weekend was spent visiting Gammy & Poppie up in their mountain, lake house. They have decided to make it their "full time home" and have put their Towne Lake house on the market. Who could blame them??!!It is just stunning up there, and their house was recently renovated to add a new room as well as a new kitchen and all kinds of other exciting stuff. They even made a room for Avery with her own crib and toys! Avery loved it there, and slept remarkably well there. (was it the mountain air?) We miss our Gammy & Poppie, and don't get to visit with them enough. We can't wait to come back!

Eating applesauce turned into a small food fight with Gammy Katherine!

Avery tested out the kayak with Dada. She enjoyed the ride so much that she kept trying to jump back into the boat when Dada would come back near the dock.

Hanging out with Poppie on the dock, what a beautiful sight...

Uncle Brian and Dada are showing Avery a fish - this was the first time she watched him catch a fish, and she was so interested in it and wanted to touch it. (I think Dad was very excited to see this)

Grandma Nana (Debra) Graduates!
Summer is almost here!!
As you can see, Grandma Janell has already opened up her pool. Actually, it has been opened up & heated since May 1st. She updated her pool this summer with all kinds of new stuff...new decking that stays cool to the touch, and it's been converted to salt water. The salt water is better for your skin & eyes, and the kids already love it. (this is the best group picture I could get!)
Mother's Day 2009
I had a wonderful mother's day this year! Avery made sure I had a great day and she even bought me a necklace that has her birthstone in it, along with a big "A" monogram. (somehow she got on the Internet and ordered it!) We had a great day visiting with our moms, Grandma Janell & Grandma Nana. And hubby Clint made sure that I did not lift a finger all day - he was so sweet. What a relaxing and lovely day it was! I am so very lucky to be a mom, and to have the world's greatest daughter helps too. I love you Avery!

Birthday Party Fun
So, I have been slacking on the blogging - but these pictures are from Buie's 2nd birthday party last weekend. (immediately following the walk) Avery had a blast hanging out with some of her best buddies at "Southern Prep" - our local indoor playground. It's a great place with all kinds of gym stuff, trampolines, mats, things to climb...the list just goes on & on. Anyways - as you see daddy took Avery into the "moonwalk" bouncy house, and then Avery sat at the table with all the other kids for cake & pizza. We were surprised to see how well she took to sitting at the kid table with all the big-kids! (then she smashed cake all over her face...) It was so much fun - Happy Birthday Buie!
"Walk For Wishes"
Last weekend Avery participated in her first charity event. We joined her boyfriend's team (Wade's Wishmakers) and helped raise money for the Make-A-Wish organization. It is a wonderful charity that grants wishes to children that are in life-threatening situations. What an amazing feeling to help children that are in need. The event was held in Atlantic Station, and we did a 2 mile walk (well Avery took a 2 mile stroller ride). It was a great time, with great friends - and we look forward to helping again.
