Fishing Shaker Card with DCWV

Hi everyone.

I'd like to share the birthday card for my father in law's 70th anniversary. He goes fishing to Norway every year, so I decided to take this theme for his card.
I used papers from the DCWV Out in the Wild Paper Stack and the Foiled Cardstock Stack.

The main image is a stamp from Designs by Ryn. I embossed it with WOW! Colourblend Misty Sky and colored it with watercolour pencils and Brushos. My tiny die cuts, that are my shaker glitter are cut with a die from Marianne Design.
I used a Sizzix alphabet die and Distress Glitter Forest Moss for my "70".

xx Susanne.

Autumn Mixed Media Tag with WOW!

Hi everyone!

I'm sharing a mixed media autumn tag. I really love to create fall projects because of the colours and cozy feeling.
I created a background with the Lace stencil from Tim Holtz together with Gel Medium and Distress Inks. I placed some corrugated cardboard on top which is glittered with WOW! Turkish Nights Embossing Glitter. I just wiped slightly over the surface with the Embossing Pad before I added the Glitter. I added some white and gold splatters for more texture.

The owl is completely covered with WOW! Black Glint Powder. This adds a grungy 3d look to it. I embellished the tag also with some leaves which were cut with a Sizzix Decorative Strip die. The pine cone and the branche is a die from Marianne Design. The maple leave is a die from Noor! Design. This time I used it as a window to let the colorful background show through. The little charm is from Blue Moon Beads. I used Distress Inks to colour the ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by today.
xx Susanne.

Autumn Tag for the Rubber Dance October Challenge

Hi my dear crafty friends!

We have a new challenge starting today over at the Rubber Dance blog. Our optional theme is "Fall (in Love with Autumn)", and this is our colour scheme:

http://rubberdance.blogspot.com/2016/10/rubber-dance-stamp-challenge-october.html

I love creating fall projects! This time I made a mixed media tag with lots of texture, die-cutted embellishments and the beautiful "I Love Leaves" stamps from Rubber Dance. The stamps are stamped on a Brusho background and embossed with Distress Powder. I used papers from the DCWV Halloween Night stack and from the DCWV Jet Black stack for some of the die cuts. The "hello" is a die from CUTplorations. It's covered with WOW! Pistachio Glitter.
I used dies from Cottage Cutz, Die-Namites, Marianne Design and Noor! Design. I used the Tim Holtz Shatter stencil for the background.

Thank you for stopping by today,
xx Susanne.

STAMPlorations Beach Sign Tutorial

Hi everyone!

Today I'd like to share a step by step tutorial, which I did last year as my debut over at the ARTplorations blog.
I am a fan of home decor and I love creating it on my own. Of course there are many pretty pieces you can find in stores, but I really like it if each creation can tell something more than just bought decor products. I'll give you some step by step instructions on how I created this beach sign wall decoration:

First of all I started with a piece of balsa wood and primed it with a THIN layer of gesso. If you use too much gesso you will loose the wood look.

When it's dry I apply some Gelato colors (chocolate and iced chai). I blend the colors with a wet baby wipe.

To add texture I use the "Some Birds" Stencil and a clean wet baby wipe to remove some of the Gelato color through the stencil.

I also used the "Shutters" stencil to add more pattern.

I definitely needed more interest, so I stamped some sentiments as well. I used the "Subway Art Builders Dare" with some coffee Archival Ink. I stamped the sentiments randomly and three times with one layer of ink.

My letters are cut with the Silhouette Cameo out of white cardstock.

I cut the flip Flops with the Silhouette Cameo as well.

To give the shoes some texture I used the "Nestled Circles" stencil and some gesso. I also painted the edges with gesso and a sponge.

I punched holes with the Crop-A-Dile to adhere the ribbon.

Here are some more images of the finished piece. I used the Crop-A-Dile to make the
holes to hang it onto the wall. They are reinforced with eyelets.

And here is another reason that makes the creation even more special: everybody will have a closer look to read what the shoes are telling! I stamped the two sentiments onto banners with coffee Archival Ink. By the way I added some "sand" to the flip flops and to the shells with Distress Embossing Powder "weather-worn".
