Altered Playing Card Challenge - Winners Post

Hello all, thanks once again for coming back to the blog. Today I am going to announce the winner of the big give-a-way and also go over my storage idea for this entire deck.

First I want to thank those that followed along each week, weather you finished your deck or not, I appreciate everyone who followed along. Here are the links for each week just in case your finishing up.

and our Facebook group

and the Pinterest Board link
Pinterest Board

I decided use an Artist Trading Block (by Eileen Hull) to hold my entire deck, it was the perfect size, there are several sizes of this block but for this I'm using the largest, you can find it HERE

I used the black Matboard for my box and I'm going to decorate white paper for each side

Here are what my squares look like for my sides
My process was to paint the backgrounds and then stencil and doodle on each square. I used Dina Wakley's paints
For my hearts, I used gelli print backgrounds and drew hearts and cut them out, I also used torn gelli prints

I pasted each decorated square to each side of my artist trading block

I cut the lid off, the altered playing cards will stick out the top, which is what I want, this way I can flip through them. Here is what my box looks like

The feet are mini dominos glued together two high

However you decide to display yours, I'm sure it will work for you.

Sneak Peek - Vintage Travel by Eileen Hull

Welcome back to the blog. Today I am showcasing a project that I did for the fabulous Eileen Hull
Eileen is at CHA as we speak and she will be unveiling a new line of Sizzix dies called "Vintage Travel"

Eileen had asked her Inspiration team to make some samples to display at CHA and I was on that list as well

Today I wanted to show you her new Passport Book and a few other samples that I did

For the passport book I wanted to make it into an Art Journal

I stapled a piece of elastic to the back of the book and added a knob to the front so that I could close the book easily

I also added some ribbon and a Tim Holtz word token to the side of the book. This gives it a fun altered look

I used various Dies, stencils and stamps to create this wonderful journal. The journal has three pages inside (the one die makes the entire book)
I think this die is so versatile and can be used for so many wonderful things like a photo album, baby photos, brag book (perfect size to carry in a purse or car) Art Journal, the possibilities are endless

A few of the other dies I got to play with were the Luggage Tag and also the Travel Trailer

For the luggage tag I created a gift card holder, this die is the perfect size to use for that purpose

The Vintage Travel Trailer is my favorite, it is one of the cutest dies I've ever seen and it was so fun to work with
I think everyone on the Inspiration team made one so Eileen has a wonderful caravan to display at CHA

Check out other projects by the rest of the Inspiration Team

Thanks for coming by and I hope you have enjoyed the sneak peek!!

Team ATB and 100 Proof Press Blog Hop!!!

Welcome back to the blog, I'm here to announce the Team Artist Trading Block Blog Hop with 100 Proof Press Design team.
We are having a "Block" hop together this entire month to showcase Artist Trading Blocks and 100 Proof Press stamps and I'm so excited!

I chose to use stamps:

If you know me, you know I love butterflies and 100 Proof Press has so many beautiful butterfly stamps and so this is the direction I went.

To begin I used Tim Holtz butterfly tissue paper and cover three artist trading blocks  (I will need three of them for this)
I used the smallest size ATB for this project

I then sprayed each section (both sides) with a mix of Dylusions and also Adirondak color wash

I set those aside to dry completely

I then stamped all of my images onto white card stock and heat embossed each
My sleeping fairy girl comes with a banner under her and I ended up cutting that off

I colored each of my images with Copic markers and also added a tiny bit of distress ink to make it more subtle
I fussy cut out each image

Back to my blocks......
I used my first block as a "stand" for my project and I created two triangular shapes and hot glued them together so they would stand up

I also used Tim Holtz Honeycomb Framework Die to create a back to my stand

I then took two other ATBs and cut the tops off and hot glued them together

I then stacked these two on top of my triangle stand and glued them together
I added some Tim Holtz tattered flowers with button centers and some foliage (sorry forgot to take photos on this)

I used some foliage that I got on sale at JoAnn's and glued the butterflies to them in order to stick them into my boxes

Here is my finished project, I love the way it came out!!

This will make for a wonderful centerpiece on my kitchen table. The Butterflies are so beautiful.

Come on over to the 100 Proof Press blog and check out other projects from their design team and team ATB

Some Halloween Fun

Happy Halloween Everyone!! I hope that you are handing out some candy tonight OR going trick-or-treating with the little ones.
Halloween is a fun holiday and it can be so much fun to dress up and just "not be yourself" for a day. haha!

For this post I thought I would share some Halloween Projects that I have created this season. Some of these I have shared previously but some you haven't seen before so this should be fun.

For starters I have to share my daughter's make-up that I helped her do. She wants to be a Zombie-ish Prom girl, our goal was to just make her scary looking. Here is the outcome of the make-up I did for her

Fun right?! We think she looks quite spooky

I made this altered jar for a really close friend of mine, I used a napkin that I found at JoAnns on clearance and mode podge for the lid, added some ribbon, a knob on top and some charms, oh and of course candy!!

Next I made this fun candy box with Eileen Hull's new Vintage Kitchen Stove Die, this die will be available in mid November.
The candy inside makes it complete, don't you think?

Next I made some ATC's and cards for a Halloween themed swap on the Stampotique's group Facebook Page We always have a monthly ATC swap and it has been so great to participate and get ATCs from around the world
Here are the two I created for my partners
All of these fun stamps can be found at Stampotique Originals

The following are some ATCs I got in return, the first one was made by Magda Polakow, Magda is one of the Stampotique Stamp designer's too. She made this really cute little ATC sleeve too

The Second ATC was from Helen Cooke, She sent a little card along with hers

The next Halloween creations were from the Altered Playing Card Challenge, the theme a few weeks ago was Halloween and I made these spooky Altered playing cards

My next project was for Linda Ledbetter's Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge, The theme that week was "Effects Powders" and I decided to make a postcard for that one, I loved using the powders on my spider and graves!

For my last project, Stampotique had a new stamp release in September and I wanted to created something Halloween themed with some of the new stamps, I made this Halloween Card using Stampotique's new stamps Skull Moon By New Artist Arwen McCullen
and Connie Shows Off Her Nails by artist Daniel Torrente

Thanks for coming by the blog on this Halloween Day, I hope you have a wonderful, spooky fun Halloween. Don't eat too much candy!!
CHEERS!!
