Hi there, well we've got our first snow of the year, I know its a pain but I can't help being a bit excited. Snow always brings out the big kid in me and of course the dogs love to play in the snow too so i'll be getting my luverly pink wellies on and taking a trip to the park this morning :-) Anyway down to business, its time for a new challenge over at PanPastel UK and this week we have a 'Happy Birthday' theme!
For my DT card i've used a couple of fun images from Dilly Beans, coloured with promarkers and carefully cut out (you don't know how lucky the cheshire cat is to have hia tail in one piece Lol.
The background is of course created with PanPastels. I used a Sofft Knife with a round cover to create the sky, using Ultramarine Blue PanPastel and a mask I created by cutting a scalloped shape from a scrap of card. I used a torn paper mask to create the hills, again with a Sofft Knife//round cover using Chromium Oxide Green. I added some grass using the edge of the Sofft knife. All done I thought but then decided it looks a bit plain so I stamped a fairy castle (from Debbi Moore) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and using a Derwent Eraser Pencil I just rubbed the PanPastel out where I'd stamped the castle. I just love the fact than you can rub PPs out, it makes them so versatile and of course its much easier than masking. I coloured the castle with white PanPastel and blended in a little black . The flags are coloured with Red Iron Oxide PanPastel and I also added a little more green at the base of the castle.
To finish off I matted the scene on white card then blue card, attached the images with 3d foam pads and added a computer generated sentiment and a couple of scraps of blue ribbon.
Don't forget you don't have to use PanPastels to enter our challenge, but if you want to try them don't forget our generous sponsor Berni from Your Creativity Store will be sending our lucky winner a fabulous PanPastel Trial set !!
