Hello to Spring!

Always trying to build up my stash of cards I decided to make some non specific designs to send at any time.  This is the first using Simon Says "Spring Flowers" stamp set, an oldie but I love the pretty flowers in this set.

First I used some masking to stamp the flowers straight to my card base , then embossed in white. I then masked again and used some Cracked Pistachio Oxide ink for the distressing round the flowers.  I then coloured the flowers with Zig Markers.

I then added the Hello sentiment from Hero Arts layering it up for dimension. Love the soft colours.

Have a great week

Mothers Day!

I was asked by a friend to make this card after seeing my other Spring Flower cards.   This time I have been inspired by all the snowdrops that are springing to life in the village I live.  I think this stamp makes a brilliant snowdrop.
I have stamped and embossed in gold onto white paper and fussy cut the flowers to form a tuft of snowdrops. Here is a photo I took last week such pretty flowers.

Its not the best photo as the weather has been really bad in the last few days and I needed to get it in the post to my friend.

Here is a photo I took last week in the woods near our house.

Hope you have a great week.

Birthday Flowers.

Another quick play with that "Spring Flower" set from Simon Says, there really are so many possibilities!!  This time I have stamped and embossed in gold onto watercolour paper before colouring with my Zig Brush markers.  The purple flower has been fussy cut and pop dotted for some added dimension. I then added the die cut sentiment and some pearls, simple but effective.

Such a lovely day here, we have just been out for a 3 mile walk in the countryside and spotted these beautiful snowdrops, Spring is on the way !!!

I shall add this card to the Wednesday  challenge at Simon Says "Fantastic Florals" and the "Anything Goes" challenge at the Simon Says Flickr page.

Have a great week

More Spring Flowers.

We have had some lovely crocuses arrive in the garden ( as we have moved I am not sure what is already planted here) a lovely surprise , so I was inspired to use my "Spring Flower"s stamp again.  This time colouring the flowers a lovely shade of purple.  I have fussy cut all the flowers and stems and pop dotted for dimension . Its based on my last card but using a Kraft background.

The weather is lovely this weekend so we are off out in the garden to do some tidying, its great to be back out there again.

I am adding this card to two challenges, the Simon Says Wednesday challenge "Fantastic Florals" and the Simon Says Flickr group challenge "Anything Goes".

Hope you all have a great weekend.

I Need the Spring!!

Its really turned cold here again and the forecasters say we may have snow!!  I need some sun and warmth and can't wait for Spring!  With that in mind I dug out my Hero Arts Flowers and Dies to create this card.  The base is embossed with a Tim Holtz folder then I carefully added some glue to some of the letters and added some foil for a bright gold effect.  Lastly I stamped and die cut some flowers and leaves from the Layering Hibiscus set from Hero Arts.  I have decided not to add a sentiment as I don't want to crowd the design..  This is the first time I have experimented with foil and I really like the effect, I shall definitely be using it again!!

I am adding this card to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge"Touchy Feely"  and also LaVon's flickr challenge "Bring the Spring Bling".

Now to snuggle up by the fire with a cup of tea, have a great weekend.

Spring is on its way!!

I had fun playing with some distress ink and the Poppy stamp from Hero Arts today, This card is for the current challenge over at Die Cut Divas "In the garden"  I was inspired to get out my flower dies as I think Spring has arrived in our neck of the woods and all the flowers and trees are coming to life.
I am also entering it in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Happy Birthday".

I spotted these lovely Primroses on my walk yesterday a sure sign that the warmer weather is coming.

I love these pretty yellow flowers.

I thought I wouls also show you another of my painting projects, we have had this old dark wood coffee table for years and it definitely needed updating.  I sanded down the top and applied some Danish oil, the grain really looks fantastic and it was hidden under all that dark wood stain!

I then painted it in Annie Sloan chalk paint, my fav new product, so easy to use!!  No piece of furniture is safe in my house now lol!!

Daffodils

The challenge over at The Daring Cardmakers blog this week is called a "Host of Golden Daffodils" Not having any daffodil stamps proved a bit of a problem so I downloaded an image from google to make my card. I made this card on Friday and then on Saturday Jane released her new images over at Squigglefly and one of these was of daffodils. Alice is on her Design Team and was able to give one image away as a small prize and I was the lucky winner!

So this week I have made two cards for the challenge. I have also entered this second card in the Squigglefly challenge, I hope my butterfly counts as being shiny!
