Shimmer and Shine!

The theme for this months "Lets Squash it" challenge is "Shimmer and Shine". I found this challenge quite hard as I only really have embossing powders that shimmer and I couldn't find a way of those looking good on my dry embossed card.  Then sorting through my crafty drawers I found a really old tub of gold Perfect Pearls and decided to give this a go.

First I distressed a pice of card with Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks, I then ran this through in an old Embossing folder from "Design Objectives", not sure of the name of the folder.  I mixed my Perfect Pearls in a spray bottle with water and spritzed the card with lots of spray and then dried with my heat gun.

Its quite hard to photograph but is really shimmery in real life. Next I added a couple of die cut circles and the layered up die cut Thanks sentiment from Simon Says which I also added the perfect Pearls to.

Now I have rediscovered the Perfect Pearls I shall be using them again, such a lovely effect and would look fabulous on my Christmas cards.

It looks like we are in for some good weather at last so I shall be out in the garden ,Woo Hoo!!

Stencilled Slimline card!

I was lucky enough to win a gift card for Simon Says last month and my goodies arrives yesterday so I couldn't wait to have a play with them .

I cut some card blanks with the Mini Slimline Rectangles and also cut the Mini Slimline Window.  On the background card piece I used the Spring Flower stencil and Oxide inks and then layered up the window die on foam pads.

The flowers and leaves are from the "Even more Spring Flowers " stamp set and I have embossed in gold, coloured with Zigs Brush markers and fussy cut.   The thanks die is also by Simon Says.

I am really pleased with my purchases and am sure they will get a lot of use!

I shall enter this in both the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Stencil it" and the SSS Flickr challenge "Flowers"

Thanks!

My daughter needs lots of Thank you cards for the end of term, she is a primary school teacher and there are always lots of people to thank at this time of year, so I set about making some cards for her.

Made this shaped one using an older Spellbinders die to create the shaped card and the cut a circle out of the front of one of the shapes and ran it through with an embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  I then stamped and embossed in gold  the flowers from the Spring Flowers stamp set by Simon Says colouring them with Zig markers and fussy cutting.

I then arranged them on the front of the card and added some pearls and the die cut sentiment, also from Simon Says.

I am adding this card to the challenge at "Lets Squash it" "Lets make some space and bring on the bling"

Also the current Simon Says Flickr challenge "Flowers". lots more crafting today as we have another wet and dreary day here.

Background making.

I recently watched this Jennifer McGuire video about making lots of backgrounds with a distress ink transfer technique.  Yesterday was a dull day so I got to work and made some backgrounds using this fun technique.

I used distressed oxides for the base  of Pickled Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade
applying them thickly to the base card, drying really well before stamping with a really old Hero Arts background stamp called "Leaf and Floral Background" and embossing in clear. I then spritzed with water and place a blank piece of card on top and ran through my embossing machine.

This background is the resulting print, I will show the other piece later as I haven't made it into a card yet. I really liked the soft look of this piece. Just then added some butterflies made with the SSS Adeline die also coloured with the same inks. and the thanks sentiment.

This was a great technique to do and now I have a set of backgrounds in my stash ready to use.

I will add this card to both  the current SSS Flickr challenge and SSS Wednesday Challenge both "Anything Goes"

Its a lovely morning here so I am off to the garden with a coffee.  Have a great week.

Thanks!

Another card using the "Floral Cluster " die from Simon Says.  This certainly is a versatile die.  This time I have cut one in white and another in patterned  paper and layered them up.  I then adhered to more patterned paper and added the gold die cut sentiment.  Also from Simon Says.  Just added the pearls to finish it off.

I shall add this to both the Simon Says Flickr group challenge and also the SSS Wednesday Challenge.

We have another week of bad weather coming so I am going to be doing a lot of crafting,  hope it cheers up soon!

Watercolour Flowers!

Had fun colouring my new Centre Cut Flowers  stamp from Simon Says.  Stamped and embossed in Wow white powder then water coloured with Zig Markers.

I then fussy cut the image and layered it onto some dusky pink card, before layering onto my white base.  Added the Gold embossed sentiment.

Also used Simon Says Stitched Square dies.

Just a quick post today as its another glorious one here and we are hoping to pop to the beach.

Have a great day.

One image Two Cards!

I have been trying to take part in Kathy Rac's 30 Day Colouring Challenge unfortunately I have missed a few days but did get time today for Day 23 and also managed to make two cards with the coloured image Yeah!!

I used the Simon Says Cosmos flower background and stamped with Distress inks, then I dragged the colour with water and also added colour with my Zig Brush Markers.  Love the pretty pink, can't seem to get away from pink always my favourite!!  I then used the Altenew Alphabet dies to cut the YOU and layered it up on white three times. Just added the sentiment and Voila!!

A close up of the raised letters!

With the bits that were left from the background I cut squares with the Simon Says Stitched Square Dies and made this quick Grid Card.  The sentiment is also from Simon Says!

I shall add these cards to both the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge "Bright and Cheerful;"

and also the Simon Says Flickr Group challenge "Anything Goes".  Its the 100th challenge over at the Flickr group and there are two great prizes, why not join in !

Hope you are enjoying your weekend, we are having some amazing weather at the moment so I am off to sit in the garden and do some more colouring!

Stretch your Dies!!

I wanted to take part in the Simon Says Flickr Group challenge which is "Stencil it"  but I only have a couple of stencils. So I decided to make  my own using the "Modern Flowers Card Wrap" die from Simon Says. To do this I just cut some card with the die, then sponged through the image with some distress inks.  Then to cove the messy bit I added the die cut circle and the "Thanks" die.  Love how it worked out , and a way to stretch my dies!!

I shall also add this card to the current Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says which is also "Stencil it"

Hope you are having a good week.

Cosmos Flower Background!

Playing again with the "Cosmos Flower Background" stamp from Simon Says this time I decided to stamp it onto Pool card using Pool ink, then I added some light colour with some Zig Markers.  Its a very subtle effect but quite pretty in real life.  I then added a sparkly sentiment and some pearls.

A very simple "Thank You" card that I will add to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge which this week is "Sparkle and Shine".

We have had a lovely change in the weather here and have had three days of glorious sunshine, at last Spring is here.  Hope the weather has improve where you are.
