Masculine Cards!

While the perfume tester cards were still on my desk I made another Masculine card, they are made of a high quality card and stamping on them is a dream! This card is for two challenges The Masculine Challenge over at the Simon Says Blog and the CASology challenge which is Wheels. Its my day off work today and the weather is beautiful so I am off to work in the garden now.  Have a great day.

Fathers Day Card.

Last week my daughter went shopping for some new perfume, the shop she went to gave us cards to spray the perfume onto so we could have a smell and she could choose.  Well the crafter in me had an idea and I picked up a few extra cards for stamping on!  As you can see this is one advertising a mans aftershave called UOMO perfect for a fathers day card.   I have made this for the new challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

We are having glorious weather at the moment, lets hope it lasts!!

One Layer Card

I decided to have another go at the Less is More challenge this week although it challenged me in another way!!  The theme is a one layer card using a film as inspiration.  I am not really a film watcher and really had to think about this,  I looked through my stamps for some inspiration and came up with "The Great Escape"
I know it dates back to 1963 but I remember my Dad watching Steve McQueen and really enjoying the motor bike sequence.

I am also linking up to the CASology challenge this week as their theme is "Travel"

Another wet miserable day in Surrey, so I am stuck indoors again, never mind I have made a card now I am off to make some cakes.  I hope the weather is brighter where you are!!

Masculine Birthday.

I am still trying to use up some of my paper stash, this time with a male birthday in mind.  For the background I have stamped my new London stamp onto some BasicGrey "Porcelain" paper and distressed the edges, the car is also stamped onto Basic Grey and then cut out.  I have also added some map scraps to lift the colours a bit, the card looks brighter in real life but I can't seem to get a good photograph.

Just a short post tonight, I have had a busy day and need to chill out in front of the fire, hope you have had a good day and thanks for stopping by.

New Releases over at Tiffany Doodles!!!

Today is release day over at Tiffany Doodles and the lovely Tiff has produced two fabulous masculine images just in time for Fathers Day! The first is a fun fishing set at the second a great golf inspired set.

I decided to go with the golf images and have made two cards, one coloured with Copics and the second paper pieced.

This is such a fun little golf buggy and so easy to colour, after printing twice I then made a mask of the buggy and stamped the background using the Clouds stamp from Hero Arts.  The background has been dry embossed and the ball is cut with a circle die cut, shaded with copics and also embossed.
The second has been paper pieced and then layered up on pop dots for added dimension

Pop over to the Tiffany Doodles blog for lots more fabulous inspiration on using these fun Digital images!!!

CAS cards(so not my style)!!!!

There is a new challenge started this week called CAS-ual Fridays, now CAS means clean and simple which is so not my style, so I have found this card quite hard to make.  I think that's why I chose to make a masculine card as generally ribbon and bling don't get a look in .LOL

My local craft store has just started stocking these Kraft cards and I love the shape, they are 8 inches by 3 inches so tall and very narrow. I have stamped the Beetle car and then stamped over with some text from the Hero Arts Dictionary Greetings set. Next I have distressed a little.  The sentiment is computer generated.

I am looking forward to a crafty weekend,  its raining here so no gardening and I know my DH will be glued to the TV watching the motor racing!!

Two Birthdays and a yummy cake!!

Here is a photograph of my hubby and son taking on holiday last year, it was their birthdays yesterday, yes, that's right they are both 19th April babies!!! It makes it a very expensive time of the year for me!!lol!

Just thought I would show you the cake I made for them this year, its called a Humming Bird cake and its extremely fattening and very yummy. The cake is a bit like a carrot cake but you use bananas, walnuts and pineapple in the mixture instead of carrots. The icing is made with cream cheese. It won't last long in our house!!!

My time as a Hero Arts Hostess is nearly over the last three months has whizzed by and now there is only a couple of weeks left! Heather, Anita, Sharon, Linda and I thought we'd put up a challenge this week – Using the same stamp. We've been comparing stashes and found several stamps in common but the Antique Engravings set was all of our favourites. Please visit the flickr site here to find out more about the challenge.

This is my card using the set and I decided to try and make a masculine card which is also one of the challenges this month on the Hero Arts Blog. My idea was to make the butterflies look like those sample trays they used to make in the Victorian times with real butterflies. ( I am so pleased that it is now illegal to do that . I think this is a much better option)

Hope you find time to have a go at the challenge.

Happy Mothers Day!!

In Ireland and the UK its Mothering Sunday today, so Happy Mothers Day to you all,  hope you all have a relaxing day.

As you can see I don't have a Motthers Day card to show you, just two masculine cards that I have made for the current Hero Arts challenge. See here for this months challenges, Hero Arts are always very generous with their prizes so go on have a go this month!!

Both my cards are made using the new clear set  "Going" its a really useful set, as we all know mens cards are notoriously hard to make!!  For the top card I have used an old chipboard label from a pair of jeans, it was already distressed so I just scrapped of the price and stamped the car image in its place.
For the second card I have cut up an old map for the border strip. The car is stamped and cut from blue paper and I have highlighted the areas that would be chrome with a silver gel pen.

Yesterday I went with my friend to a  fun  Adult Education course on quilting,  this is the cushion I made, I am really pleased with the end result and I am definately going to try something a little bigger next time!!

Look at this yummy ribbon, The Ribbon Girls are doing a little giveaway for Mothers Day, so visit their blog to be entered into the draw.

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

A card for a male!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick post today but I had to share this card with you.  Its a card for a man eeek!!!  always a difficult card to make. This great stamp set from Hero Arts is perfect for those tricky cards. This months challenge is also to decorate envelopes so I have just stamped the car image with Tea Dye distress ink onto the edge of the envelope.
Have a great day.

Manly challenge!!

Just a quick post today,  I need to post a card for the challenge at the Play Date Cafe.  After seeing the colour swatch chosen by Julie I thought I would try something different and make a mans card!!

I tried so hard to get a good photo but the weather is really dull and it doesn't show the true colours that I have used. The background card is dark orange and I have embossed it with the Wood Grain folder, the second layer is plum although it looks alot darker here.  I have had this stamp for years and I haven't inked it up in a long while but I need a birthday card for a fishing mad man.

I made a second image of the postage stamp section and coloured with water colours, then added crackle glaze to age it,  It is pop dotted to give a little dimension, I also added Glossy accents to the float image and some stickles to the reel and weights.

Male Cards

As I said in my previous post "I love making feminine cards" so the challenge on the Hero Arts blog is quite a challenge!! In my stash I have a few of these little digital bird images all printed and ready to use and I decided that they would be perfect for my card, but as you can see I can't get away from using bright colours.  I am not sure if this card really works but I have finished it anyway.

Happy crafting.

Birds

Made this quick card tonight for the birthday of a male friend, I am not keen on making male cards I prefer girly colours but this has turned out OK. The Digital Kit is from Hero Arts and is called Vintage Skyland Birds. The larger version of the branch of birds is pop dotted to give it dimension. I am afraid the photo is a little dark as I have had to take it at night.
This will be my last post for a few days as we are off to Rome. My DH has a special birthday this year and this trip is his present, we have been to Italy lots of times but never visited the capital. I will post a few photos when we get back!
Have realised that as this card has birds on it, it qualifies for this weeks Daring cardmakers challenge.

Challenge card

Back to work this week and its been really busy at school. I needed some wind down time so made another card for this weeks Hero Arts challenge. This time made a digital card with a kit from 2peas in a bucket. I am still learning how to use these but I'm pleased with the result.

Mens cards

Its Mans week at Hero Arts so had to make some male cards, I'd much rather do female ones, prefer pink to blue but I had to have a go at the challenge and these are what I came up with. I was pleased with the backgrounds as I followed Jennifer McGuires distress inking technique, I then just added some vintage car images.
