~quiet weekend~
watched the cat take a nap ...

tried out a new (for us) Thai restaurant in town. We liked it, and definitely recommend the red curry with duck.

went downtown on purpose to get a new pan for making pancakes. Then A. made these for breakfast yesterday ...

watched movies. Loved Slumdog millionaire and Vicky Christina Barcelona a little less. Also, finished one knitting project and started another one right away ... what can I say ? I fell in love with some o w l s

Oh, and Happy Chinese New Year ! It's the year of the Ox (my year) so I'm hoping it's going to be a good one :)

this and that
Almost one week without posting ... oh well, I'm so sorry but I really haven't been able to get back on track since the ski trip.
I know a few people are waiting for the next shop update, which I had promised it would be this week, but I've done very little sewing lately. I will try to finish those pencil sleeves this next weekend, so they should be available on Monday.
I've been knitting quite a bit, and have one finished item and another on the way to show you. But mostly this week what I did on the very little spare time I had was this ...

Planning our next trip already. And to Iceland, of all places. We've been meaning to go there for the longest time, and this year it seems we'll finally manage to. We're only going in June, but I've read that it's best to book our accommodation in advance, otherwise the best and cheapest places to stay tend to be fully booked quite early. It's a very expensive place, I had no idea, so we're staying in self catered cottages and cabins whenever we can. And if you have any suggestions for me, please let me know.
And now for some eye candy fabrics ...
These I got from IKEA a couple of days ago. They were so bright and cheerful I couldn't resist.

And these below are a selection for the pencil sleeves. I'm going for a japanese theme, if you haven't noticed.

To Glaucia and Mimosa... a big thank you for saying I make your day. You girls make my day as well, along with everyone else that reads this blog. So thank you, to all of you.
And finally here's Maggie to wish you a great weekend as well. She's so grown up, not a small kitten anymore but still causing mischief as always ...

see you soon
the concert was amazing, and it's now way past my bedtime, but I could not go without leaving you some more kitty cuteness :)
Amélie loves to pose for me ...

and Maggie is hard to photograph because she never sits still ...

... except when she's sleeping, of course.

the cats of Turkey
here you go ..

isn't he the cutest furball ?

the owners of the Old Greek House said he was a Van kitty, a rare Turkish breed that originates from the Lake Van region in Eastern Turkey.

whatever the origin, it was love at first sight for me. I almost put him in my bag .. believe me, the temptation was huge

besides this little cutie, we saw so many cats in Turkey that we'd be petting a different one every 10 minutes, especially in Istanbul.
and even though most of them were strays, I was happy to see that they seemed to be well fed and quite content. Here are a few shots of some favorite ones:

(ok, this one has a cat and a dog)
for all our photos of the cats of Turkey, check here. I'll be adding more in the next days, so check for updates later.

see you soon
finally we're going on vacation, so I won't be updating the blog for the next couple of weeks or so, but will be drinking lots of apple tea and wandering around the streets of Istanbul and other fabulous Turkish places instead. But so you won't feel too lonely, I'll leave you Maggie to keep you a bit of company :)

crochet blanket ♥
What is it about cats and crochet blankets in this household ? Maggie seems to like this new one already ...

And Amélie also had a passion for the striped blanket recently ... maybe they're telling me I should hurry up and finish them ?
