A Fairy Garden in a Tote...Centerpiece
We've been enjoying all of the fun fairy gardens out there.
So I decided it would be fun to put a quick one together for a centerpiece. I used all things I had on hand...
This chippy wood tote only looks old. I bought it at Home Goods a couple of years ago. I still love it.
I had a couple of different kinds of moss left over from other projects. I used both for fun texture.
These glass insulators looked like mushrooms to me. I put some crumpled book pages inside.
Can you see my little junky fairy in there?
Just some random bits and pieces glued and tied together.
Her "house" is just a Ball jar with an enamel lid on top.
The plates were just tucked in for "flowers".
I love how it looks out on my rustic PALLET PERCH...
...BUT, this is definitely an indoor centerpiece. I plan to put it on my dining room table...as soon as I finish up a couple more projects that are taking up that space :)

Knick of Time Tuesday
My kids say they are "happy/sad" about the last day of school today. I know just what they mean. I remember that feeling, don't you? Excited for long sunny days without homework...but sad to say goodbye to their teachers and friends. It's been a great year!
Happy Summer,

"Mystery Junk" for Christmas...mini trees and more insulators...
Does anybody know what this is?
I have no clue what it was...
But add a perfectly chippy salvaged gray trim piece...
And you've got yourself another simple, junky decorating idea.
I gave it a place of "honor" in the guest bathroom :)

The kiddos are off of school this week for Thanksgiving...so you might not hear much from me.
Enjoy every minute :)

I made these little votive holders a few years ago by gluing a little ceramic insulator to a mini mold...perfect spot for a tiny tree :)

Aqua Glass Insulator Trees...more early Christmas ideas...
Another tree project for our booth at Antiques Downtown.
Last Christmas I shared some a "tree" I assembled using a blue glass insulator and a chippy light fixture base...visit that post HERE.
This year I took that idea and "ran" with it.
I made short ones...
...and tall ones.
Some had the wood still attached, which made fun "trunks".
I just love them all grouped together in a little "forest".
All you need is a base...I used bases from an old pull cord light.
I glued the glass insulators to the base with "Amazing Goop" glue.
Add some ribbon and embellishments and it looks like a sweet little tree to me :)

Tree Stand for a Wine Chiller...why not?
So what do you think? Would it work? I figure it's supposed to hold water for the tree so why not ice right? I'd fill it with ice for the the photo shoot...but since we have a "vintage"...aka "really old" fridge...I only have ice from a tray and I didn't think that would look right...hahaha!!
I set up this little wine bar mostly for "looks" while I was decorating. We don't have any big holiday parties planned. But now I'll be ready...just in case!!
This little planter with greens was put "to work" too.
I've really scaled back on my "strictly" seasonal decor...but this "cutie" made the cut. Don't you love his hat?
These blue insulators stacked on light fixtures look like trees to me :)
And OF COURSE I needed a few "rusty goodies" here and there.
Hope you have an "XL" Christmas...FULL of everything and everyone you LOVE!!
