Inkspirations + UDI Challenges

Image
It was so much fun to play in my studio yesterday ~ the house is still upside down, but I did my best to put that thought on ignore! I did have a hard time focusing and it took me all day to create an Anniversary card for my wonderful parents!   I found a great sketch at the  Inkspirations Challenge , they have wonderful challenges that you really need to check out! My colors were inspired by the  UDI Color Challenge  and they also have a wonderful blog that really deserves a visit! I don't know about you, but I find it really difficult to get my creative juices flowing after I've been out of my studio for awhile ~ and I really felt it yesterday ~ but I was determined and kept playing until I was please with the out come.  So without any further delay ~ here is my creation ~ It was a beautiful sunny day yesterday, so outside I went to take these photo's ~ and yes, it was very hard for me to be in the house on such a nice day, I love to play in my garde...

Spring Has Sprung???

Image
The final words spoken (well, I mean written) just before the   Utah Diva's Challenge #23  was set out before us!  ' So that's it -- NO MORE SNOW !'  ~ I agree! BUT, last night we were hit with yet another snow storm! Ouch ~ I am ready for spring, for the messy melt and all of it ~ we are in another deep freeze this weekend ~ and so this challenge is exactly what I need ~ we are told to THINK SPRING!!! and to use this color challenge and I am up for it!  Here is the color challenge from the UDI! And a peek at my picture ~ I tried something different and took this picture on our grandson's play table. It sits right in front of our patio doors (another spring sigh!) the sun was shining in so beautifully and I thought this would be a great location for a shot ~ not so! Take a peek in the background, you can see the snow piled up on the deck ~  'GOT SNOW' This was my first attempt at the Emboss Inlay Technique ~ it was so fun to play with this ~ can't wa...

SSC189 & Inkspirations Color Challenge

Image
It's a beautiful sunny day here...but...oh so cold!  I'm sitting in my sunroom and soaking up the promise of spring! And this little card just feels like spring to me ~  and it flowed wonderfully with the layout challenge  from SSC189 and I nspirations Color Challenge #56 ! I took the layout challenge and flipped it on it's side ~ and I think this really came together nicely, although the picture really doesn't do it justice! I found these darling little purses in one of my many travels through blogland ~  Carrie Gaskin  gets the credit for this creation! I knew I needed to CAS this one. Isn't that just adorable!  And can you see who's peeking out of the inside of my card? You guessed it! Tote-ally Tess, grabbing her own little purse! I love that stamp set and have forgotten about it ~ so nice to pull this off my shelf and blow the dust off of it! I'm really not sure what is up with my camera...hmmm...maybe it's the person behind the cam...

cQC Challenge & SUO Challenge

Image
When I saw the cQc Challenge #67 , I knew right away what I wanted to do with this ~ my baby card stash is VERY low...and then the following morning I noticed the SUO Challenge was for a Baby Card! Two challenges in one ~ I had so much fun doing this...with a few challenges along the way! I really seem to struggle with colors that are chosen for me...so this is a good thing, gets me out of my box and comfort zone ~ I didn't have any Kiwi Kiss in my studio and then forgot all about Melon Mambo! So I substituted Certainly Celery for the Kiwi and then added the Twine to my buttons which is the closest embellishment that I had to Melon Mambo! Okay, so now I'm exhausted....so here's my Baby Buggy Card I then used Crystal Effects on the Baby Buggy dots & heart (I'm loving CE, just adds texture and 'color pop' to whatever it kisses) ~ so then I came to the interior of the card and when I stamped.....oh....I made a mess, I didn't come down properly and so m...

Stamping 411 Challenge

Image
Sketch Challenge #179 from Stamping 411 is absolutely fabulous ~ you should really play along with the designers! I had a blast this afternoon ~ I really needed a break from Christmas Cards, so I rolled up my sleeves, got the music going.....and got to work! I used Dimensionals to pop each of the panels on my card and heat embossed each with a copper EP, it's really difficult to see the effect, but IRL it's quite stunning! On the inside I stamped tone on tone, using Elements of Style and then stamped my Sentiment over it using Close To Cocoa. I received a beautiful card in the mail this week and LeAnne had done this on the inside of my card, wow, what a beautiful effect....so....note to self.....remember this and do it! It's really hard to see in the picture, but the outcome is wonderful! Thank you so much for visiting with me today! Have a blessed day and I hope you drop by again! Stamps:  Elements of Style, Wonderful Words, Occasional Quotes Paper:   Crumb C...

Another Double Challenge

Image
I would love to post everyday, but just can't quite get this together yet....but when I saw these challenges this week, giddy up and let's go ~ so the color challenge is from Stacey's Stampin Stage and the design challenge is from Stampin 411 ! Take a peek at my creation ~ hope you enjoy your time with me! Here's a little peek of the right hand card top, after I used the blender pens to gently color this in (I love coloring!), I used Crystal Effects to give these hazel nuts some depth, I love how these turned out although it looks quite goofy in this picture ~ not a good likeness ~ stunning IRL! After I heat embossed my leaves with Black EP, I used the Blender Pens to color in the Leaves and all the Hazel Nuts ~ used my Top Note Die twice to create the frame and stamped More Mustard on the smaller of the two (tone on tone)! I really wasn't sure about this card, but in the end I am quite pleased with it ~ what do you think ~ is it too much ~ I just may teach t...

MIA ~ I'm Back!!!

Image
What a crazy week ~ all fun, but non-stop and no time for stampin' other than grabbing a minute here and another one there. So this card took me ALL week to finish. First of all the color is a real stretch for me! When I saw the challenge on Paper Pals , I couldn't get it out of my head, I knew I needed to go for it ~ had no idea where to start so I hunted around and found this layout on Techno Stamper . So here's a snap of a week of work and I had a blast once again playing in my studio! Sure hoping to hit more challenges this week (with paper that is)! So my Versamarked "En Francais" didn't really show up, good thing though...it's upside down & I'm not sure why my corner looks bent? hmmmm....picture taking is not one of my strengths :-D  Stamps: Punch Potpourri, En Francais, Occasional Quotes  Paper: Pear Pizzaz, Melon Mambo, Peach Parfait, Whisper White, DP (non-SU)   Ink: VersaMark, Melon Mambo   Acc: Elegant Lines Embossing Fold...

It's Friday!

Image
Our youngest son is coming home for the weekend and I can't wait to see him! His is very gifted musically and is being interviewed on a local radio station ~ Marc is an independent local recording artist and so this is the reason for the interview ~ check out his ' my space ' and have a listen to his music. I think you'll really enjoy it! Here's a picture of a card that we created last week at one of my classes. This is called the black magic technique, and I can't for the life of me remember where I saw this technique for the first time, but absolutely love it ~ everything just pops on the card, too bad the picture doesn't do it justice for one second! The butterflies really look stunning in real life ~ they were 'shimmer misted' and popped on the face of the card as well as inside! I know....it's really hard to see! Be sure to pop in on Monday for a sneak peek of the card we'll be creating on Tuesday evening! Thanks for stopping by tod...

Happy Birthday Colour Q

Image
Well, you guessed it...another challenge, but then again, I did tell you about this ~ so I saw this challenge on LeAnne's blog on Tuesday, I love visiting her blog, check it out here ! When I saw what the challenge was, I just had to play, so here is the layout & the past ColourQ combo that I chose! I sure hope I did this correctly ~ still a bit new in the blogging world and so I'm just learning as I go....and having a blast with this, if I do say so myself. So here's the card that I created for this challenge and I had so much fun putting this together! Isn't she just adorable ~ love this stamp set! Thanks for stopping by ~ have a wonderful day....the weekend is just around the corner!
