Sunday, Sunday, so good to me

Daylight Saving Time is not one of my favourite things and for the life of me, I don't seem to understand it (something to do with commerce, isn't it?).  That being said, I did manage to get a reasonable number of hours sleep in and would have been in bed longer I think if a friend had not "phoned" and invited me to go to the movies with her.  I quickly pulled myself together and said that I would love to.  So Dawn and I headed out to the theatre this afternoon to see the following film.  I must say, that for a while I was unsure if I was enjoying it or not but it soon began to capture my interest and in some parts, sympathy, but I'll not say any more in case you want to go and see it for yourself.

"Life doesn't always go according to plan...Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) has lost everything -- his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother (Jacki Weaver) and father (Robert DeNiro) after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat's parents want is for him to get back on his feet - and to share their family's obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he'll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives."

Hope you are all having a great weekend.  Our weather is getting milder and we are all hoping that Spring is just around the corner.

As usual, I have been keeping myself busy with my usual array of projects and here are a few that have kept me out of trouble this past week..............

Shabby key rack

Repainted an old wooden necklace holder

A lovely old oval frame painted turquoise

Here is a primitive Noah's Ark (with animals) which I purchased from Pat at the Queen's Cupboard.  I just couldn't resist it and now have it in my small cream cabinet with all the birdies...............

Talking about birds, I just finished putting together two birdhouses and now have them in my Boutique for sale......

I picked up this little beauty and turned it from a drab this....

to this and it's also for sale................

As I was walking down the hallway earlier this week, I noticed this beautiful wreath on Laurie's door and yes, I did make it, LOL

Laurie found a tiny wooden chair at one of the thrift stores and brought it around for one of my little primitive animals to sit on, how quaint, it's the one with the raffia seat..................

My last finished projects for the week are these cute wooden boxes I decoupaged using comics and plain wooden boxes like this...........

and made them into this....................

I'm looking forward to warmer weather when I can get on that Greyhound bus and travel to see these little darlings, makes the long trip worth it............

Have a great week and I'll "talk" to you soon.  Hugs

Church Street Boutique

Well, the last few days sure have been very busy for me.  We, that is myself and my two partners in crime, decided to split up the room we have rented and named "Church Street Boutique", into three equal spaces so that it would be fair for all of us.

To do this, I had to go out and purchase three unassembled shelf units and with the help of my eldest son, lugged them over to the boutique and there I spent hours assembling and arranging them, creating a nice warm area where, we hope, our clients and friends can come and shop, especially now that it is getting closer to Christmas.  Here are a few photos I took today.  I think I will probably leave it like this for a while, unless I find that I need another unit.  Trouble is, I have so much stuff and can't stop creating and/or shopping, LOL

So, this is my side of the room ........... looking good, I think ......

Today, before I went to the Boutique, I had an appointment with an eye specialist to check to see if the medication I was on for Lupus has damaged my sight.  I am very pleased to report that apart from some evidence of beginning cataracts, my sight has not been damaged permanently and as of last week, I have ceased taking it.  My blood work is holding it's own but the arthritis is no better, it's getting worse as I get older, and I really felt my age when I was kneeling on the hard floor following the confusing diagram - sometimes you just have to rely on common sense, LOL

Here are a few paintings I have acquired the last week or so, spruced them up a little and am now selling them in the Boutique for a few dollars (hopefully).

I picked up this gorgeous window style mirror at a local thrift store recently.  My son Dave has a few larger ones in his home and I have often admired them.  I wasn't very taken with the colour of the wood, so, me being me, I painted it, but wait for it, not cream but black - wow, the sky will surely fall now, LOL  Here is the before picture and then the after.  It wasn't very easy getting photos of it without getting myself in it too, so they really aren't the best, but you will get the idea.......

This is a Christmas wreath I made for my apartment entrance.  Cute little fellow on the top.

And to finish off, I leave you with photos of my sweet grandchildren.................

Super Rhys getting his boots on
and the beautiful Katherine
I can't believe that a week has gone by since I last blogged - where on earth does the time go?  It won't be long before the snow is here to stay and when that happens, believe me, I won't be trotting the the mall two or three times a day.  Being a non-driver makes a big difference to my mobility during the winter months.  Just have to grin and bear it and keep myself busy in other ways.  Talk again soon.  Hugs,

Seek And Ye Shall Find

Hello again, I can't believe that I am writing another blog so soon, I wouldn't have thought that I would have anything to say yet, but I do!!  I actually had an excellent day today.  I had planned to stay in bed late, but the roofers had another idea, they were up there just after 7.30 a.m. banging and carrying on and as much as I wanted it, sleep evaded me!!  So, off I went on a search for "stuff" which I needed to finish off certain projects I'm working on................

This shabby chic coat rack I found at Winners yesterday after I had been to the doctors and today I put it up.  It will be great for when I have company and so easy to just hang up coats instead of taking them into the bedroom or squeezing them into the closet.  That's how I can justify that little expense.

When I came home I decorated my door with a little sign I picked up at The Dollar Store and placed it above a Christmas wreath I had made a few years ago.  Looking good, I think..............

After that, I finished off a couple of "pictures".  I had painted these old frames a few weeks ago and was waiting for just the right thing to put in them.  Didn't know what, some kind of photograph or graphic, but then today I was at The Queen's Cupboard and found a couple of gems and these are the end results.  I just love them.................

I should mention that the items I used are made of metal.  Don't you think they are adorable?  Which reminds me, I would love to hear from you and what you think of my silly ol' blog, doesn't have to be much, just a word or two, nice words of course.  That way I know that you are reading it.  This is my way of keeping in touch with you.

I'm still working on a couple of other things and found some brilliant stuff with which to finish them off, but that's for another day, still in the painting stage.

Finally, I made some earrings for the Christmas season, just inexpensive ones, for fun, to sell at my upcoming craft shows (I have three this week)......................

Now I'm going to make supper and relax in front of the television for a while watching people upgrade their homes, sell them, or search for a new home overseas.  I love those kind of shows, like Love it or Leave it.  I'd rather watch those than any of those sit-coms, etc.  Anyway, that's it for now, Ta Ta.

Rainy Day in Paradise

It's another rainy day here in the Soo.  Nothing much to do.  I'm still waiting for all the information I need to begin my Etsy account where I am hoping to sell my Crafts.  I am very anxious to start - don't know where this will take me, could be successful and give me something to do during the long winter months or I could be a dismal failure.  I certainly will give it my best shot anyway.  I have been busy taking photos of everything I need to set up and hope in a day or so I will enter into the world of Etsy.  Keep your fingers crossed for me please.  I will try and post a link on my blog, but that will take time as I have to master all the fundamentals first.

Just changed the wreath on my apartment door to reflect the season.................

The trees outside are beginning to change colour and I can't wait for the full-blown effect.  My friend Laurie will probably beat me in posting gorgeous pictures of our Fall - her hubby takes really great photographs - you can check out her blog here if you are interested, she is a wonderful artist also..........

I'm off to the movies this evening with the ladies from work.  I'm so happy to still have them in my life even though I have been retired for three months.  They very kindly include me in things like this.  I'm not sure who all are going, but I do know that Janis, Helena and Maddelena are.  Hopefully they have chosen a decent movie - some of the choices, well, at my age let's say, I can do without watching, LOL

The rain isn't letting up and I need to get out to the Library to pick up a DVD, so here I go, umbrella to the ready............

Of course I got drenched, but it sure does look pretty out there.  Now to while away some time before going out to the movies!!  I'm thinking of going to visit the family again in a couple of weeks.  I'm hoping this time I will get lots of cuddles from Rhys but will try and not be too disappointed if it doesn't happen - terrible two's and all that!!!! but who could resist trying to sneak a cuddle from this little darling..............

Apparently the movie we are going to see this evening is called "I don't know how she does it".

"I Don't Know How She Does It" follows a Boston-based working mother trying desperately to juggle marriage, children, and a high-stress job. Kate Reddy devotes her days to her job with a Boston-based financial management firm. At night she goes home to her adoring, recently downsized architect husband Richard and their two young children. It's a non-stop balancing act, the same one that Kate's acerbic best friend and fellow working mother Allison (Christina Hendricks) performs on a daily basis, and that Kate's super-brainy, child-phobic young junior associate Momo (Olivia Munn) fully intends to avoid. When Kate gets handed a major new account that will require frequent trips to New York, Richard also wins the new job he's been hoping for—and both will be spreading themselves even thinner. Complicating matters is Kate's charming new business associate Jack Abelhammer (Brosnan), who begins to prove an unexpected source of temptation."

Sounds like fun - it had better be, LOL.  I'll let you know later.  I'm home now from being out with the "girls" and I have to say that the movie was cute.  We had a few chuckles and it was good to spend time with them.  I'm hungry now, so I think I'll dig in the fridge and see what I can come up with.  Nighty-night and have a wonderful day tomorrow.
