Reindeer Ornament

So did you go straight from Halloween to Christmas? Or do you decorate for Thanksgiving?
As much as I wanted to get my Christmas decor up, I did end up putting my Thanksgiving stuff up first.  It is a season to be grateful and pause for a bit. So I put the brakes on.  (Although Hallmark has been going strong in my craft room!) LOL
Today I have an ornament to share.  I used Whimsy Stamp's Tattered Christmas stamp set.
I stamped it on the wooden disc with a juicy Versamark ink and sprinkled it with a distressed dark brown embossing powder.  The effect wasn't perfect but I think it lent itself to the whole shabby look of it.
The image was colored with Copic markers.  I added a bit of texture paste to the antlers, rhinestone for Rudolph's nose, and a teeny jingle bell around his neck.  As a final touch, I added some white gel pen "snow."

I hope you enjoyed this super easy to make ornament!

Whimsy Stamp's November Release!

Are you coming down from your Halloween sugar high? ;)
I am sharing Whimsy Stamp's new November release called, Tweetie Pie.
I colored these sweet birds with Copics and added snow using a white gel pen. I also added sparkly snow on the branches and the outer circle, using Stickles. I decided they would be cute as an ornament and used a Stampin Up! thingy (not sure what it is called), from my stash to create it.
I added some Sparkletz to the shaker part. I stamped the sentiment in black and cut them into little banners.  The red posy and string are from my stash.  The teeny leaves were from the Build-a-Garden die set. I added additional sparkle to the leaves with Stickles.  I used the stitched circle dies to frame out the ornament.

Paper Door Christmas kit and Tutorial

Hello my friends!  It is hard to believe it is that time of year again!  It seems I was just basking in all of summer's glory!  Now it's cold and snowy and we have like 20 minutes of daylight. ;)

I am excited to share a project using a new Paper Door kit from Whimsy Stamps!

And not just a project, but a photo tutorial as well!
I created this little shaker ornament.

I have been making ornaments for my tree the past 12 years and I love seeing them year after year and filling my tree with them.  It's my grown up version of a "handmade ornament" tree. (Okay, I might hang  a few of the kids' ornaments too.)
This kit had so many cute pieces and cute little touches to make this ornament super sweet!
The shaker elements include snowflakes and teeny snowballs!
It doesn't get much cuter does it?
So how was my card made?
Step 1:  Stamp snowglobe stamp with Versamark and emboss in silver. I used my Mini Misti so I could stamp a couple of times.
I used the die that comes in the kit to cut the center out.
I added a bit of color with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

The kit even comes with clear acetate.  I glued it to the back of the snow globe.

While that dried, I stamped my images with black Memento Ink.  I ended up not using the snowman but saved it for a future project.

I colored each image using Copic markers.

I used the coordinating die cuts to each image.  Not sure what happened to the die on the gingerbread house.  I promise I wasn't drinking while I was creating this project.  ;)

I added crafty foam tape to the back of the snow globe making sure there were not gaps for those teeny snowballs to sneak out!

I used the die again to cut the glitter paper, which also comes in the kit!
The white paper from earlier was used to create a snowbank that I hand cut with scissors.

I covered my snowbank with glossy accents and glamour dust.  And who honestly doesn't love glitter named, Glamour Dust?
I secured all of the pieces to the snow globe

I sprinkled the shaker elements on top of the images and carefully placed the top piece in place. I wanted to make the ornament a bit sturdier, so I adhered it to a white piece of card stock and used my pinking shears to trim around it.

I placed the globe in my Mini Misti.  (Which now I realized needs a good cleaning....badly!)
I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and sprinkled it with silver embossing powder.

I added a string, bow, and gem to the top for a few finishing touches
I appreciate you stopping by!

Shaker Ornament!

Okay folks, it's getting real now.
Christmas is less than a week away.
Am I freaking out a little bit?  Possibly.
Is my shopping done? Nope.
Is my baking done? Nope.
Am I in the Christmas spirit? Absolutely!

I created this shaker ornament using Spellbinder's dies, acetate, a Fancy Sentiments Sticker from SRM, and these cute little fillers from Queen and Co.
The Poinsettia was cut using a Spellbinder's die and giving it swipes of color with a Copic marker.  I dabbed a bit of glue in the center and added more of the solid beads from Queen and Company.  Everything was glued to the top of the ornament.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Deep breaths people.....deep breaths!

Vintage Rusty Lid Ornament!

Good morning! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!
I am up on the Scrapbook Adhesives blog today with a vintage ornament.  Over the years my style has evolved, but vintage still makes my heart flutter.
Over the summer I take lids from candles and soak them in vinegar water.  You can do this with silver jingle bells too! I leave them all summer until they are beautifully rusted! I die cut a circle to fit inside, sponged ink on the edges, and stamped the image in black. I colored it using Copic Markers. I added a bit of glimmer using a Wink of Stella pen.
I didn't want the image to sit too far inside the lid, so I used Scrapbook Adhesives Crafty Foam tape.  I stacked 3 layers under the image and adhered it in place.  I used the Dual Tip Glue pen to add the glittery snow underneath her.

I die cut the poinsettia using a Spellbinder's die.  I colored it with Copic Markers and then gave each layer a coating of glue using the Dual Tip Glue pen.  I sprinkled it with glitter.  I assembled the flower and wanted it to sit up on the lid, so I once again, used the Crafty Foam Tape underneath it.  I added some gems (Queen & Company) and dots of silver Stickles around the perimeter.
Have a wonderful Sunday! Thank you for popping by!

Merry Christmas Shaker Ornament!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!  I know I did! I feel so blessed to have my little family to share the holidays with. :)
It has been an incredible year for our family for sure!  Cort moved to Misericordia, Kyle is away at college, Brian and I traveled to San Francisco, New York, and we are heading to Nashville for New Year's Eve.  On top of that, Brian started a new job a few weeks ago.  It was scary and exciting all at the same time! I am normally ready to usher the new year in, but I am okay lingering in 2016 for as long as possible! ;)
I have another ornament that was on the SRM Blog yesterday.  It is a shaker ornament using dies from Spellbinders and Tim Holtz inks for a bit of soft color.
I added veins to the poinsettia using a white gel pen.  I added a Christmas sentiment from SRM as a final touch.
Cort is home for a few more days, so we are taking her and Kyle (because he is a good "big" brother) to see the movie, Sing.  We are trying to cram as much family time as we can before regular life kicks in again.  ;)
Thank you for stopping by today!
Have a wonderful Monday!

Rusty Lid Ornament!

Good morning!  I have a few minutes before I start cleaning and getting my house ready for company today. :) I am up on the Scrapbook Adhesives Blog today with another rusty lid ornament.  It provides such an interesting back drop! I used The Dual Tip Glue Pen to adhere the mica flakes to the perimeter of the lid as well as the doily in the back.  My flowers were cut using water color paper and dies from JustRite.  I gave them color using my Zig Clean Color Markers.  I layered everything using 3D Foam Squares.
The sequins were added using Dodz-small.  I punched a hole at the top using my Cropidile and threaded rustic twine through it.

I will be back tomorrow with another ornament!
Merry Christmas Eve to you and your family!

Water Colored Ornament!

Good morning and happy Monday to you! It is cold and snowy here in Chicago! It makes me want to cozy up in my home and craft! But duty calls and I need to get my booty to work....ugly Christmas sweater and all! ;)  I found a bit of "me" time this weekend and created several ornaments.
This one uses a die from Spellbinders called, Heirloom Ornaments.  I used Tim Holtz inks on the smaller ornament piece in shades of orange, yellow, and red.

I then layered a Tim Holtz stencil over both pieces and applied texture paste.  I sprinkled it with glitter while it was still wet.  I used Scrapbook Adhesives foam tape between layers for a bit of dimension.  I added a Just Rite Poinsettia die cut to the top.  It was given a wash of color with my Zig Water color markers.  I added a big white pom pom to the center and couple of jingle bells.
I added an SRM sentiment as my finishing touch.  I love seeing all of the ornaments I've made through the years decorate the tree!  (Among my kids' homemade ornaments that they made me as little ones!)

Have a wonderful day!

Eskimo Kisses!

Happy Tuesday to you!
I love making ornaments to give away to friends and family (and some to keep)! I pulled out an old set from Crafty Secrets and stamped the image in grey on kraft card stock.  I wanted to try my hand at "no line" coloring.  (Not sure I really succeeded).  I used my Prisma Colored Pencils.
I cut the image out with a die from Tattered Rose.  I threaded a bit of string through it. I tied some silk ribbon from the Stamp Simply Store, with a jingle bell, and adhered it to the corner of the circle.  I dipped the edges of my circles in glue and added some glittery flakes.

This week is spirit week at school! Yesterday we wore our holiday hats and today is crazy sock day!
I love this time of year when the kids are excited and anticipating Christmas!  I think I appreciate it even more now that my own kids are grown. :)
My own kiddos come home next week for the holidays too.....so all is good in my world!
Have a wonderful day my friends!

Good morning! I am full swing into Christmas mode these days.....decorations up, shopping done, presents wrapped, Christmas crafts created, and now the start of all of the holiday parties begins! It's always such a fun, but hectic time of year.  :)
I am up on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog today with a complete tutorial on how I created this ornament using 3D Foam shapes.  (And of course, bucket  loads of glitter!)
