My last few days as Queen of the Crap!

I am ending my reign as Queen of the Crap over at Scrap Your Crap! The last challenge was to use those cool scissors that were so popular 10 years ago! You know you have them.....all the different cuts.....maybe you passed them on to your kiddos thinking you wouldn't use them anymore! Well, I pulled mine out for this challenge and went to town! This is a picture of my cutie pie nephew Alex. All the paper is from Noel Mignon's Picnic Basket Add-on Kit! I even used my dusty 'ole punches!!! So head on over to Scrap Your Crap to see what the other gals have come up with!

Off to CHA!!! Hopefully, will post pics later!!!

Queen of the Crap & a Brainwave Challenge!

I have been selected over at Scrap Your Crap, by Simone and Greta, to be queen for 2 weeks! My first challenge as queen was to use paint. I used paint in two different ways here. The first was to use a butterfly mask by Heidi Swapp. I used a Suede spray paint for that. Super easy and quick! For the flowers I used a mixture of texture paste and acrylic paint. It gives it lots of dimension! When it was dry I cut each of the petals out and glued a button to the centers. All the paper is from Noel Mignon's store. It was part of her Treehouse kit from awhile back. I did my journaling on a tag and hid it behind the butterflies. I added some pretty vintage lace and a button to the tag.
See how lumpy the flowers are? Pretty cool 'eh?
Once again, WHY is this so dang SMALL? Can anyone tell me???? This week's challenge over at Treehouse was THIS sketch.
I used the heart from the Home Grown set. I stamped it using inks from Papertrey in Blush and Moonlight. The one heart with the star was crystal effected (see how I made that a verb?) and glitter was sprinkled over it. While still wet, I put the rhinestone star to the side. ( I am all about the BLING!) To finish it off, I added ribbon (another must on all of my cards!) and a homemade stick pin.
Check out the other girls' takes on this challenge!

Simple Pleasures

I have been trying to learn more about my Adobe Photoshop....and experiment with my photos. I learned recently, how to use the gradient tool and add text on top of that. I loved this photo of my son blowing bubbles with his cousin. (Alex's page is a couple of posts down.) I did my journaling right on the photo! I was so pleased with how it turned out! I used Noel Mignon's Hopscotch Kit. It has tons of yummy papers and embellishments in there! (There is only one left in her store.....so hurry!) This clear Hambly transparency was part of the kit and I wanted to make sure I didn't cover it up! OF course trying to photograph it was a bit tricky. This LO also fit Greta's and Simone's Scrap Your Crap challenge. You were to use multiple shaped papers on a LO.

Still with no car! 3 days....feels like 3 months! Hate the feeling of being stranded! I sure have walking a lot though....maybe I will lose a few pounds. I just found out that the mobility place never undercoated my van.....gee, could be why the entire underneath is a huge rusty mess! I need a limiting strap replaced, and there is still some question about the axle. The body shop is supposed to look at it tomorrow. (For those of you new to my blog, I have a ramp van for my disabled daughter). So......maybe I will get the car back tomorrow......

Remember Foam Stamps?

Simone and Greta over at Scrap Your Crap hosted a challenge last week to use those foam stamps that were so popular a few years back. At the time I had to have every one that was made....so I have quite a collection! This LO is of my son. I altered the pic of him reading in Adobe Photoshop. I converted it to black and white, made a second layer and "erased" the book so the colors would show through. My son was diagnosed with a learning disability/dyslexia in 1st grade. He was really behind in reading....but is now reading at grade level. He loves to read anything about history. He can sit on the couch, or in his bed for hours reading a good book. I am really proud of him, because he never gave up, even when reading was so difficult for him!

I will post tomorrow about my Surprise from my hubby!! I have lots of pics to share with you, so check back!

Scrap Your Crap.....Bling!

Many of you who visit regularly know that I posted this picture of Cortney a couple of weeks ago. It was taken the day of her birthday party. I love this picture so much that I HAD to scrap it right away! Simone and Greta had a challenge last week over at Scrap Your Crap to use bling! Well....that is right up my alley! Initially, I was trying to use my Cricut to cut a Cinderella. After 2 hours of trying, throwing away, starting over and being thoroughly disgusted with how she turned out....I threw Cinderella away. : ( I just bought SU! star punches a couple of weeks ago and decided to use those. I used glitter paper, rhinestones, and a piece of vintage lace. I wanted to keep the LO simple so that the picture took center stage. After my Cinderella disaster, I was pretty happy with the results!

Simone and Greta's challenge this week is to use foam stamps! Remember those? HAD to buy every one made! So I am hoping to participate in this challenge!

Oh yea, my tooth you ask? I need a crown. UGH! She "patched" it today and is sending a preestimate to my insurance company. Not to happy about it.....

Happy HUMP day!

Scrap Your Crap Challenge!

Greta and Simone sent a bunch of us some crap a few weeks ago. What was it you ask? Well, it was a green paper lace. Except I didn't keep it green, I painted mine white and sprinkled glitter on it. (Just to drive Simone crazy! : ) I backed it with some lime green paper and placed that over some cool black and white Making Memories paper. The butterfly stamps were from Scraptivity! I added some rhinestones to their bodies....cuz it is all about bling with me! Making Memories also makes these cool felt pieces. So I used them under their bodies.
The sentiment was from Papertrey Ink. So head on over to the Scrap Your Crap site and check out what all the girls did with their green lace!

Scrap Your Crap!

Yes, I do have another child! I am sure you are tired of hearing about Cortney, Cortney, Cortney! (LOL!) This was my LO for this week's Scrap Your Crap challenge. The challenge was to use 15 or more brads. I think I used 16! My son decided awhile ago that he was going to be an architect. He was so enthusiastic about this that my husband and I went crazy buying him "architect" stuff.....a drafting table, books, computer programs, rulers, angles.....etc. Only to tell us......he changed his mind! He wants to be a history teacher now! He very seriously asked me if I would be upset if he wasn't an architect. I told him I didn't care what he did as long as he was happy........and could pay his own bills! LOL!

Another Scrap your Crap Challenge!

Simone and Greta, over at Scrap your Crap posted this week's challenge.....use more than 10 buttons! I thought this would be an easy challenge.......nope! I had a vision for this page.........it went totally awry! Why are some pages like that? Some come together super easy, while others........well....don't?! These are pics of my adorable nephew at his 2nd birthday. (Which as last summer.....a bit behind as you can see!) I wanted to punch bunches and bunches of circles and mix the buttons within them. I had trouble with the LO. Didn't know where I should place the pics. So I settled on this! The title was done with foam stamps and acrylic paint. The year was done with stickers. I added some fine lines to the journaling and the bottom of the page because it looked too empty! I added a few Elmo stickers and after 3 days of agonizing over this....it was done! What do you think?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Scrap Your Crap!

My good friend, Simone, over at Daily Dose of Spazz has started a new blog with another fun scrapper/blogger, Greta! It is called Scrap Your Crap!

Every week the girls post some challenge.....this week it is called, "Get Felt Up!" (It's not what you think! LOL!) You were to use 3 pieces of felt in your LO. I had this picture of my niece and wanted to create an 8 x 8 LO. I used paper by Making Memories. I cut her name out with my ancient Sizzix machine. I added pieces of vintage ribbon, sequins, buttons, and Doodlebug flowers.

Check out her site if your looking for some fun challenges!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
