Bathroom Remodel and a Painted Ceiling?

Have you ever started a project that was supposed to be easy? And then it turned into a huge beast of a job?  Are all home improvement tasks like this?
We have a powder room for guests that looked like this.....after we took the chair rail down.
Yes, I chair rail.
Who puts a chair rail in the bathroom?
Were they expecting a huge crowd?
Chair rail down....huge holes in the wall. Lots of spackling, sanding, spackling, sanding, and more spackling.
We had these Hollywood lights and this mirror. And a vanity that stood 31 inches tall. 35 inches in standard.  I stand a whopping 5 ft, 3 inches tall and fell huge next to the vanity!
This became a problem then with the mirror.
Why?
Because most mirrors are glued on.
Yep.
So if taking down the chair rail left holes in the drywall, the mirror was going to be crater sized holes.
What do we do?
We took the mirror down.
Carefully.
And yes it left 4 large holes in the drywall.
So back to spackling, sanding, spackling, sanding....
you get the idea.
The project from start to finish took about 6 weeks.
There were quite a few snags that derailed us.
(2 containers of spackle, R35 to seal the wall from moisture...don't ask how I found out that NOT sealing it was a problem, and lots of sanding!)
Lately I've had a love affair with the color orange.
It makes me happy.
When I told my family and friends I wanted to paint a wall AND the ceiling orange, they all thought I had gone off the deep end.
I started doubting myself. ;)

New vanity (a normal height now of 35 inches!), new lights, and new mirror!
AND.....can you see the ceiling?
ORANGE!
The other 3 walls are a clean white to give the eye a place to rest.
I love color, but I am not totally crazy people.
(Well maybe a little)
I bought these water color prints at an art fair over the summer and it became my inspiration for the bathroom.
So what do you think?
Am I nuts?

A Card and a Few Pictures of my New House!

Good morning and happy weekend!  I was up on the SRM blog a few days ago with this card I created!  It uses a set called, Bible Margins Love.   I stamped it with Versamark and embossed it in gold.  I added a bit of color with Copic markers and inked the edges with Tim Holtz ink.
The card itself was cut using my Silhouette.  I went a bit glitter crazy!  I added a think layer of glossy accents and sprinkled the glitter directly over it.  I added gems for some extra sparkle.
So obviously (by my lack of posts) we have been working and enjoying our new town home. It keeps us pretty busy because there is so much in the area to do! (Which we love!) I still haven't finished my craft room, but it is close, so I will share those pics as soon as I finish getting it set up!
Our bedroom is pretty much done.  All I would like to add is some curtains and then it is done!

We've never had a "formal" dining room before, so it is great to have this extra space! Especially when Cortney comes home....it is much more wheelchair friendly!
We had two mailboxes.  One by the street and one by our front door.  Apparently and elderly woman lived here before us and couldn't walk to the street to pick up her mail.  So my next door neighbor installed this box and would bring her mail to her.  (super sweet man!)  Instead of tearing it down, I thought it would make a good planter box! My husband drilled a few small holes at the bottom, added potting soil, and a few flowers!
And last but not least.....Brian and I just celebrated 25 years together! We went away this past weekend, but our "real" celebration happens this summer when we take a cruise to Alaska!  It has been a dream of ours since the day we go married!
Thank you for stopping by! Wasn't really sure if anyone did stop by anymore! LOL!
I've been a very neglectful blogger!

Coffee Bar!

Good morning!
Since we've redone our kitchen a few months ago......new counters, backsplash, painted cabinets with new handles, our floors redone.....I've wanted a coffee bar!
I've been finding little odds and ends for the past 4 months and was happy to put it all together.
I picked up the coffee tray in Indiana when we went apple picking.  The sugar and creamer were my mom's.  I think she told me it was carnival glass?
The little cake stand was from the Home Goods store.  ( I LOVE that place!)
The yoga sign was from a friend of mine....it says:
I do yoga.
I burn candles.
I drink tea.
And I still want to smack
Somebody.
LOL!
The red ceramic baskets were also from the Home Goods Store and are perfect for holding my teas and coffees.  The metal sign was picked up last week in Nashville in a quaint little shop in the MotorWorks building.
I added a few pops of green with a couple of (fake) plants from Marshalls.
The red canisters are from Crate and Barrel.  My lit cabinets right now have yellow fabric backing them.  I am thinking about swapping it out for a bold black and white fabric instead. What do you think?  I think it might be more dramatic than the yellow.
I will be back tomorrow with a crafty post!
Have a great day!

Kitchen Remodel, Before and After!

Good morning!
The past few months my husband and I have been busy updating the kitchen and a few other parts to the house.  (I'll share those another day).  Our kitchen was remodeled 21 years ago, and unfortunately was getting worn and dated.

So what did we do exactly?  First, we painted all of the cabinets white and put handles on.
All of our floors were done in the house as well.  (Although you can't really see that in the picture.) We took the old pink, yes pink, Formica counter and back splash out and replaced it with a pretty gray quartz counter. All of the red under the counter was covered up with pretty, clean white subway tile.  (Maybe I watch a bit too much Fixer Upper and I need some ship lap somewhere too?)
My husband thinks it's too white, but all I see is a clean, bright sunny kitchen.

I wanted a coffee bar and decided this was the perfect corner for it.  I found this light up coffee sign from Target.  Leave it to Target to have something so darn cute!

I think the light up cabinet with the yellow panels is going to be changed.  I think I am going to look for red fabric to put in the glass cabinets.  The rest of the kitchen is still painted a deep cranberry red.  (You can see a sliver of it in the lower left corner of the picture.....along with my dog, Myla! ;)
What do you think?
Too white?
