But Dottie Belle Isn't a Fainting Goat.

My daughter, Jacquie, got an adorable Wheaten Terrier puppy.  Chloe is just over 2 months old, but she looks very large because she has such fluffy fur.  She is full of energy and is very sweet to people and other animals.  So I decided to let my kids, Dottie Belle and Gypsy, play with Chloe in the yard. Chloe was kept on a retractable leash just in case she might decide to run off.  I have halters on my goats, but I allow them to run free because they never leave sight of me.  If I get out of their sight, they bleat and bleat like the world is coming to an end. The goats spent the afternoon sneaking up close to Chloe and quickly running away when she gave chase.  Goats really don't trust dogs.  Chloe would not hurt them. She was just too aggressive with her affections.
So that evening about 8 o'clock, I was sitting on the back steps after giving the girls their bottles and G.B., my son-in-law, took Chloe for a short walk.  I got the great idea that I would hold Dottie Belle and let Chloe show her some affection.  Chloe excitedly pounced toward Dottie Belle whom I was holding in my arms.  Dottie Belle passed out cold.  In fact, I thought she was dead.  The breeder that I bought her from also sold fainting goats, but I think they are too freaky.  Dottie Belle did not really look just like the fainting goats do when they faint, she looked more dead.  She did quickly regain consciousness and I learned a lesson.  I will never make her confront something that she is afraid of again.

I have not figured out how to embed videos so if you want to see a real fainting goat click on this link.
