Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove

More Funkadelic for yo' ass. The fuzz and freakness is toned down a bit here, but it more than gains in pure ass-shaking grooving, incredible songwriting, and a bass player nicknamed Bootsy. Listen to "Into You" and "One Nation..." and let the Funkentelechy grab you. Plus a very good live version of "Maggot Brain" (no Eddie Hazel here folks, sorry, but Gary Shider does an impressive job).

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain (1971)

Definitely one the finest productions by this pioneering funk band. Instant proof in the opening track. George Clinton, probably wasted out of his mind, told guitarist Eddie Hazel to play "like your momma had just died", resulting in one of the best guitar solos in history. An improvised composition recorded in one take. This album is a melting pot of musical styles and points of view. Mind-blowing. It rarely gets any better than this.
