Colour Me ..... # 30

My goodness .... it's been a while!

It has been silly season dancing-wise and school holidays (which was very much needed).  My daughter has found the step up to Grade 6 work and expectations, a bit daunting.  Add to that friendship complications and you have a turbulent first semester.

Her holidays started with a charity dance concert, then straight into extra practice for ballet exams.  Just before the break she was given the nod to progress to pointe shoes - very exciting.  Parents had to attend the first lesson to get instruction on sewing on ribbons and breaking in the shoes.  Now they have had their second lesson, I think they are wondering what all the fuss was about.  All the girls have pretty sore feet and ankles.

I haven't been idle on the crafting front, just completely lacking in motivation and imagination.  The need for a birthday card for a party my daughter is attending today helped to shrug off the inertia.  My inspiration was the latest Colour Me .... challenge.

I really wanted to use the negative die space of the flowers, to add a bit of interest, and I have seen this popping up all over the place.

What you need
Cardstock - BB black, white
Patterned paper - SU Brights DSP
Stamps - Casual Fridays Bold Wishes
Ink - Versamark
Embossing Powder - Gold Glitter
Dies - PTI Beautiful Blooms 3
Gems - Kaisercraft
Flowers - SEI?

This is one of the many cards I have been making, but one of the few that isn't a copy (told you there was no imagination).  I love the SEI paper but not sure why I got it.  It was part of a 12 x 12 pad, so tonnes to use up.  I decided to use it up on some sympathy cards and some envelopes to go with them, which I never have when I need them.

Really enjoying the Commonwealth Games.  After the debacle we suffered at the Olympics in the swimming, it is really nice to see them taking a disciplined approach.  We are currently watching the mens and womens marathon -  looks gloomy with the drizzle and looks like the Africans have got it.

PTI January 2013 Blog Hop

It is predicted that we are to have torrential rain today, due to the remnants of a cyclone a bit further north.  At the moment it's just a little windy, but the rain has stopped briefly.  Sounds like a great day for card making (or cleaning but we won't think about that).

So to my blog hop entry.  A very simple card, I love the elegance of it, so didn't want to mess with the stamp too much.  I have used a white Prismacolor pencil to gently colour in the leaves while still letting the texture of the card show through.

What you need
Cardstock - BB black
Stamps - PTI Simple Sentiments, Stitches and Swirls
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow
White Prismacolor pencil
Pearls - Kaisercraft, Annabelle Stamps
Gemstones - Kaisercraft
Corner Rounder - SU

Make-It Mondays - With Sympathy

Unfortunately, I do require one of these cards as a friends father died after surgical complications in Germany.  She fortunately, had time with her family not too long ago.  Anyway, I was going to use the CR84FN colours for the week but looked too pale with the vellum I used.

As I said in my previous post today, I was looking for this stamp set for the Less is More challenge and got a bit side- tracked, nothing unusual there.

What you need
Cardstock - brown (??);  PTI white, Spring Rain
Vellum - PTI
Stamps - PTI Giga Guidelines, Mat Stack 1 Collection, With Sympathy
Ink - PTI Fresh Snow;  SU Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue;  Memento Rich Cocoa
Die - Mat Stack 1
Ribbon - SU grosgrain white
Gemstones - Kaisercraft

OLW #48

Edited to Add:  As suggested by Katina, this also fits into the latest "Less is More" challenge, where the sentiment takes centre stage.

The Brief:  A Sympathy card that doesn't use flowers or trees.

I have just noticed that this image does have leaves....sorry, an oversight.  This card design is an adaptation of one that I have done many times for people though usually 2 layers on navy cardstock (love that stuff).  Fairly happy with the result on 1 layer.

What you need
Cardstock - SU white
Stamps - SU Baroque Motifs;  My Sentiments Exactly
Ink and Marker - SU Night of Navy
Pearls - Kaisercraft

JAI #35

I made this card quite some time ago when I was asked to make afew for someone at work.  I had done a couple in more subdued colours, but I think pink is also appropriate.  It also has my most used PTI stamp set, Turning a New Leaf.

What you need

Cardstock - SU Pretty in Pink, Choc Chip, Whisper White
Stamps - PTI Turning a New Leaf, Beautiful Blooms;  My Sentiments Exactly (Cathedral Sympathy)
Ink - SU Choc Chip, Pink Pirouette;  Memento Pear Tart
Ribbon - own supplies
Pearls - Kaisercraft
