Mo's Challenge #145

Who Let  the Dogs Out?!

We did, of course! The theme of Mo's Challenge this week is "In the Dog House", so doing something having to do with dogs, using one of Mo's fantastic images, is your mission.
I've chosen to use "Guilty Rocco" for my card. I think we've all seen that contrite look an a dog's face before....."Did you do that? Bad doggie!"
I don't know what he's done, but he's begging for forgiveness!

I had fun making this card! I did some things I haven't done for quite some time...I used eyelets and an actual stamp! I stamped the fire hydrants, colored them with Copics,  and used Versa Mark and clear embossing powder to give them a shine.
Since I had no 'doggie' embellishments, I decided to  make a dog collar. I cut  a piece of CS the right size to fit an SU! ribbon buckle, ran it through a crimper, added some eyelets (I had to remember how to set them!), and was done. I'm pleased with the result.
The brown paper that the DP is mounted on is a light-weight cardboard used to separate layers of cat food in a box. I liked the color and texture of it!

Inside: "Please forgive me!"

Images: "Guilty Rocco" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Fire hydrant stamp from The Doodle Factory, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Paper crimper, Mounting tape, Fine black marker, Tacky tape, Memento and Versa Mark ink pads, Clear embossing powder.

Papers: SU! Real Red, Neenah smooth white, Light-weight cardboard, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: SU! ribbon buckle, eyelets

Don't forget to visit the rest of the DT blogs for inspiration!
Can't wait to see your cards and projects this week! Just be sure to use one of Mo's images!

So glad you stopped by!

Mo's Challenge #140

The Men in Your Life!
Mo's Challenge this week is to make a masculine card.
I have always loved making cards for men, but haven't made many lately.  Mo drew this cute little guy quite a while ago when I requested an image of an old-fashioned newsboy, and I'm just getting around to using him now! I think he's just perfect for birthday cards!

Inside: "Someone is a year older! Happy Birthday!"

Images: "Extra" from Mo's Digital Pencil , Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Dauber, Creamy Caramel ink pad, Fiskar's border punch, Deckle edge rectangle die

Papers: SU! Kraft, Basic Black, Neenah smooth white,  Basic Grey and My Mind's Eye DP

Embellishments: Brads

This one uses one of the three images from  Mo's "Lazy Mutt"set.
I made it to give to our school janitor, who left at the end of this school year.

Images: "Lazy Mutt" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital Sentiment (Unknown source)

Tools: Copics, MS border punch, Black fine line marker

Papers: SU! Taken with Teal, Creamy Caramel, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Brads

This one uses an image I found on the web. I use it only for cards I give to family and friends. This one went to a brother-in-law.

The inside says, " ...Another 'wrenching' reminder that you're getting older! Happy Birthday!"

Images: Digital image, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: MS border punch, Glue dots

Papers: SU! Creamy Caramel, Garden Green, Burgundy,  Neenah smooth white, Paper Studio DP

Embellishments: Wooden buttons, Twine, Grosgrain ribbon, Wrench charm

So there you have it, some of my examples of cards for the men in your life. Grab one of Mo's fabulous masculine images and make a card or project to enter in Mo's Challenge this week.

 Glad you stopped in!

So many things go on at a park that I thought this would be a fun theme! I love Mo's animal images, so I chose "G-fa Giraffe" for my card. After all, a zoo is a zoological park!

This is one of several cards I had to make for co-workers who will be leaving us this year, six in all! You'll see others in the coming weeks.

Mo's Challenge #134

So You Think That's Funny!

Mo's Challenge this week is to make a humorous card or project using one of Mo's fantastic images! I love funny cards, so this was a joy for me!

Meet "Oskar", an image Mo drew based on her grandfather, who also happens to be "Mummu's" husband!
She's promised more from him in the future; skiing, hiking, etc.! He was quite an outdoor's man from what she said.

The inside says, "....but at least you're still playing with a full deck! Happy Birthay!"

Images: "Oskar" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Paper crimper, Glue dots

Papers: SU! Real Red, Basic Black, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Brads, Mini playing cards

So that's your assignment. We'll be waiting to see if you can make us laugh, and possibly win a gift certificate to Mo's store!

Challenge 101

The Colors of Autumn

Iulia has provided us with a picture of a gorgeous flower bouquet as inspiration for Mo's Challenge this week.

I've used Mo's image of this daring young man called...what else?..."Dare"! I've paired him with some digital images of old fashioned elements and used colors from Iulia's inspiration photo.

Beautiful, isn't it?! Fall is my favorite time of year here in New England...the colors of the leaves are just so amazing, and our scenery is breath-taking!

Images: "Dare" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Sundial from Beyond the Fringe Crafts, Pocket watch from the Graphics Fairy, Antique book (unknown), Saying from Sentimental Sundays

Tools: Copics, Gold gel pen, Cuttlebug with Embossing folder and Nestie oval, Mounting tape, Tacky tape, Ink pad, Sponge dauber

Papers: SU! Soft Suede, Wild Wasabi, Dusty Durango, Neenah smooth white

Embellishments: Twill tape

Such an Attitude!

Oh, Boy!

Iulia is our hostess this week, and she's asked us to make cards or projects that show a boy's attitude!

I've used Mo's "William and Jeffrey" for my card. I think this exhibits an attitude of mutual love and admiration, which our boys felt for each other when they weren't killing each other! LOL!
I found this image on an old site of Mo's and immediately shot her an email to ask  her to make it available as a digital image. She graciously agreed! The image is from a manuscript she did probably twenty years (or more) earlier. I thought that was interesting, because the kids' clothes don't look dated at all! She says there are more of this cute duo, but she has yet to locate the drawings. I'll be waiting!

Images: "William and Jeffrey" with the sentiment from Mo's Digital Pencil

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, MS Zig-zag border punch, Sponge dauber

Papers: SU! Soft Suede, Yo-yo Yellow, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Brad, Buttons

Now grab one of Mo's fabulous little boy images and join us in Mo's Challenge for a chance to win a free image of your choice! We're also looking for another Guest Designer, so, if you're interested, just a be sure to label your entry with the letters "GD".

So happy you dropped in!

Such Sadness.

In Keegan's Memory

Our hearts are broken. Our youngest son's friend and best man at his recent wedding lost his battle with Hodgkin's disease a few days ago. He had almost completed his chemo therapy and was to be pronounced cancer-free, when he suffered a severe reaction to one of the drugs. He was placed on a ventilator and put into a medically-induced coma in the hope that his lungs would recover.  Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, and he died shortly after his family and friends got to say their final goodbyes. He was just 31 years old.

These are the cards I made to send to his family and girlfriend.
He had been planning on proposing to her when he was done with his treatments.

Thanks for stopping by.

Mo's Challenge #89

What the Dickens?!

Cathy is our hostess for this week, and her challenge is for us to make a card or project inspired by a book or story.

Our family just loves the Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol"....we watch at least one of the  many different films every holiday season! We especially like the Muppet version...Michael Caine is perfect as Scrooge, and the song that's sung when he first makes an appearance is wonderful!

On to the card! I love it when a holiday  image can be used for another purpose. Here, I've use old Ebenezer on a retirement card. I love the expression on his face! Aren't we all a bit nervous about what faces us when we retire?

Inside: "Goodbye tension. Hello pension!"

Images: "Scrooge" from Mo's Digital Pencil, Canvas BG stamp from SU!, Computer-generated sentiment (Black Adder font)

Tools: Copics, Sewing machine, Old Olive ink pad

Papers: SU! Soft Sage, Barely Banana, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Clock charm, Metal disc, Acrylic dome sticker, Satin leaves, Baker's twine

Now it's your turn!  I think this should be a real fun challenge! Can't what to see what you'll come up with!

It's always good to have you visit!

Having Fun!

It's Summer Vacation !

We got out of school last Thursday, and I'm looking forward to having more time to play! I've used most of my Mo images, but I have so many by other artists that I've never even printed out! I'm making it my mission to make cards with some of them this summer.

This image is from Dustin Pike. Don't you love him....ferocious and cute at the same time! I thought he should be breathing fire, so I added the swirls.

The inside says, "Baby, you can always light my fire! Happy Anniversary!"

Image: From Dustin Pike, Word stamp from SU!

Tools: Copics, Spica pen, Black ink, Cuttlebug with Marianne die, Martha Stewart Border punch, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Gable Green, Cool Caribbean, Neenah smooth white, Bazzill textured lavender, Basic Grey Yoshi DP

Embellishments: Grosgrain ribbon, Pearl cabochons

Belated Birthday

Here's one using an image from Rick St. Dennis.  Love the flower in his hat!

The inside says, "Sorry this was a little slow getting to you!"

Images: Turtle from Rick St. Dennis, Sentiment from an old SU! set, "Button Bear"

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Cuttlebug with Spellbinder die, Martha Stewart Branch border and punch, Nellie Snellen embossing leaf punch set

Papers: SU! Summer Sun , Gable Green, Green Galore, Neenah smooth white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Prima daisies, Brads

"I'm  Keeping This!"

That's what our grandson said when he opened this on this 11th birthday! He's into WWII and all things military. His mother even painted one wall of his room in a camouflage pattern!
The army insignia was printed on the computer, cut out and glued to the metal disc, then topped with an acrylic  bubble sticker.  I didn't have any gold stars, so I pressed them into a VersaMark pad, then into gold embossing powder, and heated it. Works great!

Inside it says, "And enjoy your birthday!"

Image: Coloring book page (?), Computer-generated insignia and sentiment

Tools: Copics, White gel pen, Gold EP, Mounting tape, Distressing tool

Papers: SU! Always Artichoke, Sage Shadow, and Chocolate Chip, Neenah smooth white, and Camouflage DP (from Jo-Ann's)
Embellishments: Star brads, Metal disc

I've entered this in the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge...Masculine

Thanks for looking!

Mo's Challenge # 81

Monochromatic!

For Mo's Challenge this week, our hostess, Sheila, has asked us to make a monochromatic card. The image can have natural flesh tones and hair color, though! I really don't like blue or gray people...Yuck! My customers don't like cards like that either!

This was done for a customer who wanted a birthday card for a man who is turning fifty.
I love this image! I think I'll be able to use it for a lot of different occasions.
I'm still working on the pointillism effect as a different way to enhance images. I think I'm getting a little better at it. (I hope!)
I made the 'blue ribbon' by cutting two strips of paper 1" x  6", scoring them at 1/2" intervals on one side then flipping them and scoring at 1/4" between the other scores. The pieces were folded accordion-style,  adhered together with tacky tape and formed into a circle, then a large dimensional dot was stuck to the back to keep the circle in place.
After adding the streamers and the punched circle number to the front, the dimensional was used to secure the whole thing to the card.

The inside said, "..... For an old man! Happy 50th Birthday!"

Images: "Strongman"   from   Mo's Digital Pencil, Digital Sentiment, Computer-generated '50'
Tools: Copics, ScorPal, Tacky tape, Dimensional dot, Circle Punches

Papers: SU! Bashful Blue, Pacific Point blue, Neenah smooth white, K & Co. DP

Embellishments: Brads (colored with Copics)

Now it's your turn! Get coloring and show your stuff on Mo's Challenge for a chance to win a wonderful image from Mo's Digital Pencil

I love it when you visit!

Cards for Adults

I have so many cards to show you today that I'm going to forgo listing all the elements and just give you the basics. If you have any questions, just ask!

The first two cards are for a customer who ordered them for May and June birthdays. That's a good thing, 'cause I don't like doing consignments, unless I have plenty of time to do them when the mood strikes me! LOL!  I actually have enough time to make more cards in the same themes so that she can have her choice of designs.

Choo-choo Charlie

I just love Mo's image of adults! I think the very first images I purchased were "Mummu Dancing" and this image, "The Engineer." This is for a man's fifty-first birthday.
The inside says, " I hope you're never too old to have fun! Happy Birthday!"

The rectangular sign was computer-generated, the lantern was a Google image that I colored, and the other two were also Google images.

 Let's Party!

This one, for the same customer, is for a woman's fiftieth birthday. I used Mo's "Party Girl."
The inside says, "Happy 50th Birthday! Celebrate! Inebriate!"

 In Sympathy

This is just a sympathy card I made up to have on hand. It was fairly quick and easy and uses part of the beautiful "Bunny with Violets" set from Angel's Landing.

Exuberance!

This card uses Mo's " Abby Celebrating." It's funny, but I like all the elements of this card, but am not crazy about the card itself.  I've learned not to worry too much when that happens, because it will appeal to someone out there!

I had a lot of fun coloring the bunch of balloons, though! It was my first attempt at making them look transparent, and I really like the way they turned out!
It's just a matter of using several shades of the same color and imagining the shape of the balloons that are behind the others.

Well, that's all for now. I've got to get back to coloring!
Thanks for stoppiong!

Mo's Challenge #74

Let's Hear it for the Boys!

This week our Challenge hostess, Pat, has asked that we make cards for the men or boys in our lives.
I  love making masculine cards. They are always easier for me than girly cards, as I'm not a frilly type at all!

I chose this image of Scrooge called "Merry Christmas to You"
My husband and I just filed our taxes this week, and , as usual, we owe Uncle a chunk of money again! I can definitely relate to the scowl on old Ebeneezer's face!

The inside says, ".....but try to relax and enjoy it anyway!
Happy Birthday!"

Images: "Merry Christmas to You" from Mo's Digital Pencil , Computer-generated sentiment

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencils, Crimper, SU! Label punch, Distressing tool, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Garden Green and Kraft, Neenah smooth white, Bazzill textured mocha, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Decorative paper clip, Brads

Check out the inspiration from the rest of the team, grab an image from Mo's, and join us in this week's challenge.

Bear with Me!

I made this card for my husband's brother for his birthday. He and his wife live in a small mountain town in the Sierras, so I thought the bear image would be appropriate.
This card is a bit bigger than my usual 5" x 7" cards, measuring 5 1/2" x 8".
The other day someone asked me if I ever made A2 sized cards anymore.  I can't imagine going back to that size. They seem so tiny to me now! I really enjoy working in the larger format.

Images: Digital  Bear Cub (unknown source), Digital Ticket Sentiment

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencil, Cuttlebug with Nesties, MS Branch punch, Mounting tape

Papers: SU! Really Rust, Always Artichoke, and Certainly Celery, Bazzill textured brown, Neenah smooth white, Gold Metallic CS, Basic Grey Pyrus DP

Embellishments: Corduroy brads

Thanks for stopping by!

A Couple for the Guys

Hay, There!

I know some people just groan at puns, but my customers seem to like them, and so do I! This will probably be a birthday card for our oldest son or our son-in-law.
One of the best things about digital images is that you can have them in your hands almost instantly, and the variety that is available is amazing!
The image is from a coloring book site. I can find unusual images that are just perfect for my personal cards on these sites. Check them out!
Images: Tractor scene from Edupics, Sentiment stamped with Just Right alphabet

Papers: SU! Garden Green, Real Red, Summer Sun, Wild Wasabi, PTI white, Cosmo Cricket DP

Tools: Cuttlebug with Nesties and Embossing folder, Martha Stewart Branch border punch, Corner rounder punch, Mounting tape, Glue Dots

Embellishments: Brads, Natural hemp, Vegetable and tractor buttons

Old Tortoise

I used up a lot of scraps on this card! The old New England Yankee in me loves that, but my pile of scraps never seems to dwindle!
This is another coloring book image. I just love this happy guy with his big head and goofy smile! I also love 'snarky' cards, especially for birthdays.
Inside it says, "I thought only tortoises lived that long! Happy Birthday!"
I sewed the pieces of shell on by hand, securing each of them with a tiny seed bead.

Images: Tortoise from Edupics,  Digital sentiment from TLC, SU! Canvas background stamp

Tools: Copics, SU! River Rock ink pad, Cuttlebug with Nesties and Embossing folder, Needle and thread, Mounting tape

Paper: SU! Garden Green, River Rock,Soft Suede, Gray(?), PTI white, Basic Grey DP

Embellishments: Twill ribbon, Shell pieces, Seed beads

It's Rainin' Men!

My challenge for you this week is to make a card for the guys using one (or more!) of Mo's  images!
I know a lot of you have trouble making masculine cards....you can't use all your flowery, lacy embellishments and shiny bling on a card for a man!
They aren't really all that difficult, though. Starting with one of Mo's great images makes the job easier! Most of the time pastel hues don't work, but darker, stronger, or bolder  tones are perfect. Replace your flower print papers with plaids, checks, or geometric patterns. I do use ribbon but I keep away from bows and use strips of coordinating ribbon instead. Brads and manly metal charms are wonderful as accents. Texture is great....use dry embossing, but go masculine....diamond plate, argyle, herringbone, etc. There are many border punches that can be used. I particularly like Martha Stewart's Zig Zag punch. Her fence and Checkerboard punches would be good, too, just  think straight, clean lines.

I have several masculine cards that I hope will inspire you. I've had fun using Mo's guys of all ages!

We are a basketball family....my husband and I both played when we were young.  He coached a 5th and 6th grade team at our local school for ages, long after our kids had gone on to play on the regional high school team. Both our boys and our daughter played varsity ball there. Now our three young grandchildren are playing, too. You can see why I had to have this image!

Basketball Jones

Image: Slam Dunk C from Mo's Digital Pencil, SU! Canvas BG stamp
Papers: SU! Garden Green, Old Orange, Pumpkin Pie, River Rock, PTI white, Basic Grey DP, Recycled corrugated cardboard
Tools: Copics, Prismacolor Pencil, White gel pen, Cuttlebug with Nesties & Embossing folder, Embossing stylus, Mounting tape
Embellishments: Brads

Second Childhood

I love this image so much! It always makes me think of my husband, who, at 69, is still just a big kid who loves to have fun!

Image: The Engineer from Mo's Digital Pencil, Lanterns from High Hopes, SU! Ticking, Computer-generated sentiment
Paper: SU! Going Gray, Pacific Point, Confetti White, Brocade Blue, PTI White
Tools: Copics, MS Zig-Zag punch, Mounting Tape, Sewing Machine

Embellishments: Mini brads

Radical!

This dude looks like so many young boys out there, baggy pants and all! After this was finished, I wished I'd used paper-piecing and given him a tie-dye tee shirt using that psychedelic Basic Grey paper!
I just had to buy that little skateboard when I saw it...I'm such a sucker for miniatures! I bought a tiny bike at the same time.

Image: Simon from Mo's Digital Pencil, Computer Sentiment from TLC

Card stock: SU! Green Galore, Yo-yo Yellow, Only Orange, PTI White, Basic Grey DP
Tools: Copics, MS Daisy punch, White gel pen
Embellishments: Square brads

His Turn to Cook!

The Big Guy doesn't really look like any of the men in my family, but I love him just the same! My husband love to grill, as most men seem to. He even cooks our Thanksgiving turkey in his Weber!

Images: The Big Guy Grilling from Mo's Digital Pencil, Hamburger stamp from Hambo, Sentiment from TLC

Papres: SU! Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, River Rock, Ballet Blue, PTI White, Basic Grey DP

Tools: Copics, Prismacolor pencils, Cuttlebug with Argyle embossing folder and Nestie oval, Mounting tape

Embellishments: Brads

I've shown you mine, now you show us yours! LOL!

Can't wait to see what you'll do!

Father's Day, Etc.

I'll Start With This One

I'm in the mood for masculine cards . I should be making graduation cards, but I'm not feeling it today.
The main image on this first card is from a coloring book site, and the pelican is from Dustin Pike. They're colored using Copics. I think it's a comical image!

The inside says, "Relax...go fishing. Happy Father's Day!"

Card stock: SU! Bordering Blue and Real Red
Patterned paper: Basic Grey
Border: Martha Stewart punch
Die cuts: Cuttlebug
Ribbon: Ribbons & Bows, Oh My!

Tee For Dad!

I've had the idea for this card for some time now, but just got around to making it yesterday. I think I got the t-shirt image from an online advertisement. The bull  is from Elizabeth O. Dulemba's coloring book site. Copics were used on both. The sentiment was computer-generated.

The inside says," And that's no bull shirt!"
I think it will give the recipient a good chuckle!

Card stock" SU! Going Gray and Always Artichoke
Patterned paper: Basic Grey
Border: Martha Stewart punch
Hardware: SU!
Ribbon: Stash

And Then, Etc....

This is one for the little guys.

This last card uses a Lili of the Valley stamp. Yes! I used an actual stamp for a change!
I really like the stamps from this English company, but do wish they were available in a digital format. Ha ha!

Sentiment stamp: Hero Arts
Card stock: SU! Certainly Celery, Brocade Blue, Ballet Blue, and More Mustard
Patterned paper: Basic Grey
Tools: Cuttlebug, Nesties, Paper crimper, Embossing folder
Embellishments: Basic Grey buttons, Embroidery floss

All You Need is Love!

Guys and Games!

Our hostess for this month's challenges at Mo's, Denise, wanted us to make cards about "love". Any kind of love would do, so I made a card using Mo's "Game On", because there's not much a young guy loves more than games! I'm sure any mother, wife, or girlfriend can back me up on that!

I love the look of intense concentration on his face...he's so into his game that nothing could tear his eyes away from the action!
The image is colored using Copics and Prismacolor pencils. The DP is from Basic Grey.....scraps left over from other cards. The Kiwi Kiss, Red Riding Hood Red, and Soft Suede card stock is from SU! They were all "In Colors", but the Soft Suede is now included in their new color families.
The sentiment is computer-generated and is cut out and mounted using the Narrow Oval Nestibilities set. The metal accents are from my stash, as is the ribbon scrap.
I love the look of sewing on cards, so I got out my machine and did straight stitching on the small panels and a decorative zig-zag on the image panel. That's the only kind of sewing I do nowadays! I used embroidery floss to make the red cross-stitch design.
This is for our step-grandson who is turning 21 this month and still LOVES his games!

Now lets see what kind of 'love' you'll celebrate with your creation!
Have fun! Can't wait to see what you'll do.

I Love Digital Images!

Broadening Selection

There  are so many digital images out there now that you can find just about anything you're looking for! I just found a site called Digi Doodles that has a wide selection of images. I was particularly drawn to their vintage images of antique furniture and appliances.(I purchased several, of course!) There are also many images of women from different eras.

 Field of Dreams

This is the first of two cards using Digi Doodles images that I have for you today.
This cat reminds me of my Elijah. I colored it using my Copics and tried to capture his tiger stripes and the wood grain on the chair. I love this Basic Grey DP from the Green at Heart collection with this image because I can imagine that he's dreaming of being out in a field of flowers, chasing bugs. The border punch is from Martha Stewart, the flowers are Prima daisies, and the leaves are a Sizzix die. The CS is from SU!.... More Mustard and Dusty Durango.

The chair pictured with the card is from my collection. It's a replica of a Shaker ladder back with a woven twill seat.

  You've Got Mail!

I love this mailbox image! We actually had a bird nesting in our newspaper box one year. The delivery man was always very careful not to disturb the nest when he put the paper in.
I printed two of the images, colored them with Copics and Prismacolor pencils, cut out the box on one, then popped it up with mounting tape on the full image. The border is the MS Fence punch, The DP is Basic Grey. The card stock is SU! and both colors are now discontinued. I bought the ribbon roses at a dollar store years ago and hadn't used them because purple is not a big favorite of mine.
The tiny envelopes were made using a McGill punch, and the miniature card is an 'inchie' that I made that actually has a sentiment liner inside.
I've entered this card in their challenge this week....use ribbon.

The Granite State

This card uses an image from Tiddly Inks. It's a one of several free images available to members of her PCP group. I love the whimsical nature of this! It's colored with Copics and highlighted with a white gel pen.The sentiment was computer-generated. I ruched the brown dotted satin ribbon for a more tailored look and sewed it to the card front. A few coordinating buttons add a little interest. The DP is from K & Company. The card stock is Creamy Caramel and Green Galore, more discontinued colors from SU!.

I couldn't resist photographing it with a few real rocks! We have an abundant supply here in New Hampshire...we're not called the Granite State for nothing! My brother, who lived in Louisiana, would always bring large rocks back with him whenever he visited. He'd use them as decorations in his garden.
