Stencilled CAS for challenge #226 at QKR Stampede

:
This is my card for DT inspiration at the weekly challenge at QKR Stampede - CAS (clean and simple).  Check out the examples by the rest of the design team members, and join us for a chance to win QKR digital images - there are so many cute ones, as well as sentiments.  You may enter up to 3 times before 6 p.m. EST on Thursday.  The new QKR image I chose is Floating Away.  It is colored with Prismas, and fussy cut to adhere to the card.  I used a die cut for the sentiment.
If you have seen a few of my entries you probably realize that CAS is not my usual style - in fact, it is a technique I find a bit intimidating.  I seem to have this need to fill that blank space!  Using this stencil took care of that need. I tried something new (to me) by using various shades of black chalk to stencil in the border. I have had both chalk and stencil for a long time, but don't often use them.
Hope to see you at QKR stampede!

blue stencilling

For some reason, when I use different shades of blue, the results are disappointing to me - as in this card.  I should have used a different color for the stenciled bg.  I did use a favorite ODB set, however.  For a stencil, I used something that has been in my supply  drawer for a long time.  A local store (now closed) was generous with make and takes, and I learned a lot from the owner - named Dorothy!  She cut A2 sized "stencils" from some type of light plastic sheets - I purchased a set of about 6 designs.  When I "discovered" pattern paper, and then embossing folders, I kind of forgot about useing these stencils - but I certainly like the effect, if not the color!  I sponged with chalk - trying to go lighter toward the center.

Chalked stencil bg

I used a Tim Holz stencil and varied chalks for the bg design, on subtly patterned paper - with a die cut from an old Cuttlebug set. I was inspired by the layout at the Cutting Edge.

Stencil with many colors

This is my version of a stencil using several colors of ink - combined with the Vintage Journey style.  I have several stencils, but not many that would seem to work with the challenge instructions to use several colors of ink.  I am not terribly satisfied with the white - I may try this again on kraft cs.  As stated in previous posts, I am the recipient of a huge box of goodies sent by my sister.  I sponged several inks - red, orange, yellow, and one called mudslide - but I decided to make the circle smaller and the yellow edges are cut off!  I also sponged the edge of the bottom mat.  This is from a sheet of cs by Bo Bunny (I used to see her on TV YEARS ago!!!). I did color in the flower of the image (Garden Collage by SU).  The bg is debossed, showing a bit of white through the dark layer.  ).  More texture comes from the ribbon and the Blessings die cut (Cheery Lynn - available at Joan's Garden store).
