DT card - ATG for QKR Stampede Challenge #289 - Butterfly

We hope you will join us for this week"s anything goes challenge at QKR Stampede.  You may enter as many as 3 times to win some images - the deadline is 6 pm EDT Thursday.  I used the QKR image called Butterfly.  To me, the butterfly and DP look like spring.  I cut the butterfly wish scissors - actually, there are two of them.  For the one on the bottom, which is also colored, I left a tiny white border and outlined in black.  I also curled it a bit for a dimensional effect.  The flowers are from a Stampin Up punch, with jewel centers.  The scalloped borders and sentiment are Hot off the Press stickers.

Snippets Window

I recently won a nice prize from the Snippets Playground challenge - this window die by Die-namics, and this cat stamp by Paper Xtra.  I wanted to use both, and thought this sketch would work, but I think in retrospect the kitty is a bit too large.  Oh, well - I usually post just about everything I make, so it will have to do!  I used the wood grain embossing and a bit of a branch also by Die-namics.   I added some punched rose butterflies.
I think I outdid myself with snippets!  The cat is stamped on the piece from the window.  I found a bit of the tree DP that just fit, and used scraps for both the rose and blue embellishments. I think I actually used up a scrap or two.

Happy Mothers' Day

My mother and mother-in-law both passed away several years ago, and I still miss them.  They each lived to their mid 90's so were blessed with full lives.  They were blessings to us and I hope we were also to them.  Now we are in turn blessed to have a daughter and daughter-in-law who are great mothers to their children.  We pray for all mothers that they may know this love and be blessings and good examples to their families.
On to this card - I am a bit frustrated because I chose the colors for a color challenge, only to find I had had too many interruptions and missed the deadline!  But there are other challenges...
Image - One of my all time favorites - Stampin Up -Garden Collage; water color pencils;  Embossing - Darice Butterfies; butterfly punch - Marvy; sheer ribbon; Fiskars border punch.
Note:  I used my heat gun to "melt" the ribbon - was not careful enough and the whole strip melted away.  Suggestion - point the heat away from the card!

Sending Sunshine

I used my brand new prize from DRS - the sentiment and two branches.  Thanks to Robin, DT member at DRS, for her card inspiring me to combine the two branches in this manner.  I combined chalk pencils (branches, bird house) and metallic gel pens (leaves, trim) -for me, this is a favorite coloring style.
The oval die cuts are Spellbinders, and Tiny Flowers die cuts  are by Cheery Lynn.  The DP is cut from a framed piece that was probably designed to use for scrapbooks or perhaps for letter writing.  This sentiment makes me think of the oldie "You are my sunshine...".

Springtime for Design Team - Eureka Challenge #186

The challenge this week at Eureka Stamps is "spring" -Eureka Stamps.    I chose this digital image ("tulips") and paired it with a digital sentiment from Eureka.  When we lived in the midwest (Omaha) I always looked forward to seeing tulips, as they signaled the end of winter.  We are now in Arizona, where there are few if any tulips except in the flower shops!  Instead, I enjoy a variety of flowering shrubs that add color to our yard.
Image - Eureka "tulips", colored with Prismas; striped dp by Paper Pizazz.  Right now I have several sheets of this deep pink and golden yellow sitting on my desk - a favorite spring color combo.  When I saw the challenge to be inspired by a song, I thought of "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" - is any one else old enough to remember the Tiny Tim version back in the 80's?

Announcing spring

This birdie seems to be announcing the arrival of spring - to me, the season begins a new year of blessings!
Pale sage cs by SU (I forget the name); bg DP in a pale gold by Making Memories; unknown scraps; image by Unity; sentiment from Verve Faith Medley; tiny flowers by Cheery Lynn.  I do not sew, and my hand drawn faux stitches often do not work well, so I used a metallic gold strip for the faux stitches.  I used some of the "negative" dots from that sticker sheet to scatter around, and for the flower centers.  Disclaimer - what appears yellow here is really more pale gold.

Showers bring flowers

I dusted off a set (Stampin up) that I have had quite a while, and seldom use -the fine print.  I added clouds and rain drops from Cheery Lynnvdies, and butterfly punches.  The DP is from a double sided piece, and I embossed the grey/blue sky with circles.

Shimmer and butterflies

The HB background (Cuttlebug) is on silver shimmer cs - it looks more like metallic here than it really is.  This stamp by ODB is one I use a lot - I do  not really have just one "go to" stamp.  I tried using a variety of colors for the butterflies - I now realize I prefer a subtler result!  What do you think?  I used a Darice butterfly embossing folder for the smaller panel, and a Cuttlebug border die.  The flower is Petaloo, and the leaves are from a Sizzix die.  The mat is a medium purple.

Springtime birthday

I usually color the watering can a silver or grey - I kind of like the yellow!  The image (Our Daily Bread) is colored with a variety of inks, pens and pencils, to get the desired colors - which do not display well on the screen.  The flowers that look shades of lilac are really shades of pink.   Blessings die is by Cheery Lynn.

Rejoice! Have a blessed Easter

This is a favorite technique - using a white embossed bg - this time, with an addition of chalk.  I used some of the Stamp 'n Plus powdered chalk - just received as a prize from Chalk ah Lot.  I mixed it with water and painted it on the leaves - it looks grey here but IRL is a lovely green.  I like the way that I could use the aqua brush and control where it is placed.  I added some gems, and butterflies.  The image is from my stash of pre colored items - ready to use when needed.  The mats and butterflies are a dark green for the spring look.

MMTPT298 for Lesley

I think this is a bright, springy card to show support for a friend of a teapotter (at SplitcoastStampers) who is undergoing tough times with cancer - the latest is that her blood count was too low for a scheduled treatment.  I am sure Lesley would appreciate prayers.  For more details:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/teapot-tuesdays-f260/mmtpt298~april-15-2014~peace-love-lava-lamps-t586525.html
I could not think of anything for the lava lamps or the 60's, so I opted for a supportive theme - this sentiment is a part of my Wish RAK stash, and the Hello is from The Alley Way.   The starry pattern is the best I could do for the red polka dot inspiration photo!

Another spring

Here is a second version of a card using ODB Birthday Blessings.  I like the colors better, and I will use it for a birthday card.  IRL the bg is a dusty pink, and the embossed strips are lavender, as is the bit of lace.  THe image is colored with Prismas and Spica pens - the Spicas add a nice touch of shine  I added stickles to the points on the circle and the stripes on the watering can.  I hope this works for the "water" challenge - this time, it is all IN the can LOL!  Maybe the bg embossing will remind you of some rather large raindrops!

Easter Blessings

I do have a couple of Easter stamps, but I have used them often, so looked for something different.  This SU Garden Collage image represents Easter well, I think.  I added a computer sentiment.  The image is colored with chalk, and I used new papers from a DCWV Heirloom stack.  The leaves and backing are cut from the same paper as the mat - it has a kind of mosaic pattern to it - perfect for leaves.  The flowers are by Petaloo.  Available from Terri:  Sizzix Garden Green dies, Memento Tuxedo black ink, and the Vagabond machine (http://www.atjoansgardens.com/).

Transparent Pattern Paper

Here is another example using something different.  This time it is a piece of transparent DP - included in a packet of cs sent by a Wish RAK friend at Splitcoaststampers.  It is probably hard to tell, but the black and white bg pattern is on an acrylic sheet - I mounted it on yellow cs.  To do so, I used double sided tape behind the white circles so it does not show.  The lace is placed on a strip of white, and I added washi tape for the indicated strip on the sketch.  As usual, the tape is also mounted so the various colors do not show through, as well as for stability.  The image is colored with markers.

Green and cream for Easter

This green and cream spring card has an Easter verse inside - I need to locate an Easter sentiment!  The bg is embossed with the Cuttlebug Victoria EF, and the rest is odds and ends of cs!  The coloring of Beccy;s digital image is with Prismas gel pen and chalk pencils - in varying shades of green.  I added a shimmery bauble, and actually remembered to use my corner rounder punch!  The sketch is tweaked to create an A2 rectangle.

I still have not figured out what the problem is with my uploads - the image looks fine in my computer file, but somehow on the trip to this blog blotches appear - they make the card look silvery in spots.  Sorry...!
