Humor for Anne

This is for the Tuesday Tea Pot party at SplitCoastStampers.  We are sending cheer to Anne this week.  If you would like to join us, look here for details.  The added challenge is to do a humorous card, with a touch of red if possible.
Pre colored digi by Dearie dolls; computer sentiment; DP by AMuse; stitched ribbon; Darice embossing folder.  I have had the image in my files for a while but this is the first time I printed it, so it is new to me.

DT card for Crafter's Cafe Challenge #192 - Hand Made flowers

The challenge this week at the Crafter's Cafe is to use flowers that have some type of hand made component.  I made mine using an EK Success punch with 3 flowers. I cut in different colors, and added gems.  The challenge at the Crafter's cafe is open until the end of the month.  Check out the inspiration by the DT members, then join us for the challenge.
The image is from Digi Stamps 4 Joy, colored with Prismas.  The paper (double sided) is by Stampin Up - I thought one side looked like the streets for the mail truck!  I used gold mesh ribbon and an embossed bg to finish the card.

Christmas 2017 (7-21)

I am using some printed Christmas images left over from last year (QKR Stampede digi) combined with an sentiment from Stampin' Up.  I tried something different for coloring the image.  For me, water color and printer ink don't work well together, so I experimented.  I used a dry aqua brush and SU chalk to give a rustic look to the robe. For a slightly shabby look, I cut the panels with my dull blade - it roughs up the edges a bit.    I used a marker for the shepherd's crook and a shiny burgundy for the "rope" that holds his head dress in place.  (I am sure there must be a name for that rope....)
Embellishments:  plaid washi tape; black ribbon; silver  strip that was the negative from a sheet of stickers.  I used some glitter glue on these two strips.  More - burgundy jewels, acrylic star, Quickutz embossing folder.  These are all supplies I have had for a while - a couple of years at least.

HB, Terry

This probably should have a belated sentiment as I doubt the mail will get it to our son-in-law on time.  I just did not get it finished yesterday!  As long as I keep finding new fishing images, I am set for his birthday, as he loves to fish at every opportunity.  This is a pre colored freebie from TLC - (cut with oval dies) thanks once again.  I found a piece of red and white dp in my scrap stash that just about matches that pre-colored shirt!  The sentiment is a digi from Eureka.  To finish the card I used some cord for the diagonal lines, and, since the fish on the line looked a bit small I added a couple more (rub ons).
Part of the inside verse says:  "FISH:  an animal that grows the fastest between the time it's caught and the time the fisherman describes it to his friends."

For Eugene

I need a masculine thinking of you card - this is great for AZ!  I added chalk sponging to all sections of the card.  SU image, Kolette Hall sentiment, shiny cord tied in a bow.  My favorite stamp is often the one I am using - this sentiment is one I have used a lot.

This fun House Mouse image is a great one for a friend who has moved away.  She was the leader of our church quilting group - we make quilts for those in need. This is a 4.5 x 6.25 format so there is plenty of room for several signatures.  The coloring is with Prismas.  I cut the image wiih crafting scissors, and added some metallic cord. I used a new piece of gingham DP, and new enamel dots - a just received prize.

Operation Quiet comfort

This is a card I made to add to a group I am sending to Operation Quiet Comfort.  They are requesting patriotic type blank thank you cards (with no glitter).  It is a great cause and I would encourage you to check it out and participate.
This is also my Design Team card for this week's challenge at QKR Stampede.  The theme is Thanksgiving /Thank you.  You may enter up to 3 times by 6pm EST Nov. 24.  Prizes are digi stamps from their shop.
The image and sentiment are both QKR stampede.  The brads and papers are all from my stash.  I used the gold foil seal from a can of International Coffee to back the images.

Blessings for William

Recently a young man was baptized during one of our church services.  He has little family support, and this must be a difficult situation for him.  I want to encourage him in his faith journey.  I hope this has a masculine feel to it.

Soar up up and away - and back down again

This is my card for this week's Design Team samples at QKR Stampede.  The theme is Up up and away.  You may enter up to 3 times and you have a chance to win images from the QKR digi store.
As is often the case, I have a story behind this card.  If you have seen previous cards you may recall we have a granddaughter who is beginning her second year at the US Air Force Academy.  She recently completed her requirement to earn her military freefall wings.  Even their first jump is a solo.  So of course the sentiment is not quite accurate - she was certainly not sitting! ( But I could not resist.)    Reading her description - it must be a magical experience.

Patriotic Gertie for granddaughter

Our granddaughter is completing her requisite 5 (parachute) jumps.  She is beginning her second year at the USAF academy. We told her to let us know after she finishes, not before!  She enjoys my cards, and I am sure she will like this.  I have had these papers, brads and buttons for some time.  The red stars are punched, and the blue trellis and sentiment are die cuts (Cuttlebug).  Blue and red Washi tape strips at the top do not show up on the photo.  Patriotic Gertie - ready for an outdoor parade - is part of a freebie set at Imagine That Digi Stamp Store.

QKR Design team #198 - Christmas in July

It is time to  start thinking about Christmas, though it is hard to do when it is 110 every day!  I know, for those of you in the southern hemisphere that is usual for the holidays!  I selected the digital image "shepherd" and Merry Christmas to go with it- from the selection at QKR.  You may submit up to 3 entries by 3 p.m. July 7.
Last week the theme at QKR Stampede was paper piecing, and I decided to go that route again.  I pieced the head piece and also the robe.  In retrospect I wish I had found a better piece of DP for the robe - it needs a bit more color.  (If you have not done paper piecing, my advice to you is to select a fairly light colored DP so it is easy to see the lines to cut.)  I also used favorite style - lots of light colored embossing.  I used a shimmery champagne colored cs (Recollections) for embossing and stamping, as well as for the card base.  I do not yet have a "star" embossing folder, so I substituted the snowflakes.  I used a gold pen to color the rays of one, and topped it with a
punched from gold glitter cs, though it does not really show on the screen.  I also used a bit of cord with a metallic thread for the head dress.
If I decide to mass produce this card for Christmas I may just leave the image uncolored.  My preference is to  use the same image for all of our cards.

QKR Guest Designer - Paper Piecing #197

Today I changed hats, and will join the QKR design team for a few weeks.  This week the challenge at  QKR Stampede  is Paper Piecing.  You may enter as many as 3 times, and you have a chance to win 2 digital images - the prize is 3 images if you use a QKR image.
I have been wanting to use this cute image for a while, and I think it worked well to paper piece the cactus and also the lazy turtle. (I think he is trying to keep cool in our 110+ temps in AZ!)  This  Relaxin Turtle is by QKR, and the sentiment is Eureka.  I used the same pattern paper for the Spellbinder border style die cuts, and backed it with black.  The sun is from a Cuttlebug Die.  I used scraps for all the paper piecing and the strips.  The image is new to me; all the papers are old, including the blue sky.

Polka dots

This card is for the weekly Teapot Tuesday challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  Each week we have a selected recipient for our cards.  This week they go to a couple who recently lost a 21 year old son in a tragic accident.  He was an organ donor, so the knowledge that in his death he could help others may provide some comfort.  (Recently a policeman in the Phoenix area was gunned down in an ambush.  He, too, was an organ donor, but I was disappointed that this information was not widely reported on the news.)  Find out more about the Teapot challenge here:  Teapot-Tuesdays-mmtpt409
Dies used:  butterfly - CCDesigns; circle - Nestabilities Majestic Elements;  leaves - Sizzix; flowers - Spellbinders Blooms 2; Sentiment - Cuttlebug,  embossing folder - Cuttlebug.

Larry and Smoky - for Leah

I took this photo while at their home for Christmas - had I thought about using it on a card I would have taken more care with the photography.  Oh, well.  Our granddaughter's birthday is soon- she misses her cats (a lot) while away at college - so it occurred to me to send a reminder!  She is just starting a NEW semester as well as a NEW year of her life.  The photo is new, as is the DP (Lily of the Valley).  I used a button die, tied with cord; washi tape; Martha Stewart punch; misc. cs.
