Flower Pot - GDT card for Scribbles Designs

It is time for more inspiration for the current challenge at Scribbles Designs.  You have until Nov. 14 to submit your entry.  See the details here. We hope to see your entry soon!
For this card, I used the image called Flower Pot, available at the Scribbles store.

I used Prisma colored pencils and some shiny gel pens to color the image.  The DP is from my stash, and the strip at the left is Washi tape.  The flower was a prize from the Netherlands - the label says RMS.
To back the image I used a technique from the current Falliday Fest challenge at SplitCoastStampers.  The technique called for inking up an acrylic block and applying the ink to the cs  for a background.  I opted to use a light touch with the ink for a shadowy effect.  (Hint - for a digi image, I first printed one on scratch paper to determine where the image would print on the cs.  I measured in from the edge of the cs, and then stamped from the acrylic block.  Let it dry, then ran it through the printer.  Voila!  The image printed on top of the bg.  But I am sure you can figure this out  LOL!!)

This is a digi that I labelled "anonymous" in my file.  It has been there a long time and I think that was a digi company.  I colored the image with Prismas.  I printed a second image and cut out and colored the blossoms to add dimension.

We hope you will join us for the QKR Stampede challenge #237.  This week the Anything Goes challenge includes the option of Flowers.  I used these adorable Smiley Flowers from QKR Stampede, and accompanied them with springy colors.  The Blessings greeting is from the Eureka division of QKR Stampede. You may submit up to 3 entries each week for the challenge that ends at 6 p.m. on Thursday.  The winner will receive a digi from QKR, and each week there is a separate winning entry using QKR images - and the prize is 3 digis.

Special birthday

A friend asked me to make a card her her sister's 90th birthday - seems like I have done several of these lately.  Must be something about my own age...!!!  I used a stamp that has been collecting dust (not sure it has seen ink before) and I think it will soon be a favorite - I like the black and white look and it lends itself to that.  It is by Fiskars. Watercolor pencils with an aquapen added a bit of color.  The floral embossing is a new (prize) folder by WeR Memory Keepers.  I used some scraps for the stamped panel and the bg as well as the punched butterflies.  A bit of glitter adds sparkle.  The sentiment is by my computer.  What is my favorite tool?  It is certainly my die cut machine - for dies and embossing - I make very few cards without one or the other!

Floral wish

I have had these Posh stamps for a long time and have rarely used them - wish I had photos of the samples Dee Greunig made when I bought them!  I need to work more with CAS cards.  I colored the stamps with markers and also filled in a bit on the stamped image (Vertical Wish Set).

Eureka Stamps Challenge #192 - April Showers bring May flowers

Tulips are a favorite of mine - such a lovely result of April showers - just not so much here in Arizona.  For this challenge I used the stamp "tulips" and the Blessings sentiment - both available as digis at the Eureka site.  The background is light purple, though on my screen it looks blue!  I added ribbon and some tiny punched butterflies, which I covered in sparkly purple glitter mixed with gold..  Please join us with your floral entries.  You can win 2 digis of your choice - 3 if your entry uses an image from Eureka.

For any mom - Eureka challenge #191

My mom has been gone for several years, so I made a card for any mom.
This week the challenge at Eureka Stamps, #191, (Eureka Stamps Blogspot) is to create a feminine or Mother's Day card.  You have until Sunday, May 8, at 3pm EDT to enter.  You may enter up to 3 times, and you can win 2 Eureka digi images - three, if you use an image from Eureka. Please join us! I used a pretty image called "Mixed Bouquet", and a sentiment that says "It's a special day".  You can find both of these digis and many more, both rubber stamps and digis, at the Eureka site.
I used this sentiment so it could be for any woman on Mother's Day.  I chose soft pastels - the green and white is one of my favorite combos.  The delicate butterfly is by Cheery Lynn, and I added some frilly ribbon.

From My Stash

I saw the sketch at Share Joy and am hoping I have shown the inspiration it provided.  The top panel is from a packet of watercolor prints (a prize).  Other pieces are from my stash; the blue strip is Washi tape.  The butterfly is a purchased punch out; the Blessings die is CheeryLynn.

Window Box

I am the one who is blessed - in so many ways!  One of the blessings has been to score a few great wins recently in challenges!  Most recently (yesterday, in fact) I received two Cheery Lynn dies I was able to select - the Shuttered window with flower box, and the Tiny flower kit.  The flower die cuts 32 varied shapes and sizes - from about 1/4 to 5/8 inch or so.  I cut mine in white, pink and red this time - and will have enough for several cards.  I filled in with the Cheery Lynn branch die - cut into small bits, and sprinkled some glitter on the flowers.  The window cuts in 5 pieces so could be used separately.  I applied the edges direct to a Sepia ink pad to create a bit more dimension.  I bit of gold, scalloped, velvet ribbon and brick embossing complete the exterior.    For the interior I printed a pre-colored Dearie Doll image in a very small format - you can see the cat but the mice on the chair are a bit harder to notice.  I found a bit of DP for the wall paper.  Next time I might cut the image and put it on a wooden bg.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, we no longer have mothers with us to honor, but this card would be for any special woman.  I used a portion of a sentiment from Our Daily Bread.

Garden statue and gate

Once again, I encourage your help and suggestions.  I recently won the Garden Gate and Statue dies (by Marianne) - from Creative Card Crew.  I will be trying different things to place behind the gate!  This is an old stamp by Endless creations.  I added some leaves from a Sizzix die - using black to stay with the kraft and black theme.  I placed the Our Daily Bread sentiment on a punched border.  I aged the statue with a bit of black sponging.  Oh, yes, I cut an extra outer panel of the gate, spit it in half, and extended the fence on either side in this way.  Since I decided to add the statue I really did not need to do that.

Bouquet for a mom

I no longer have any mothers te receive my cards, but this would be most appropriate for any woman.
Supplies:  image by ODB, colored with metallic markers; shimmer cs (Recollections); embossing with LifeStyle Crafts folder; ribbon from Pizzazz Aplenty; Blessings die by CheeryLynn, enhanced with glitter.
Technique:  I tried to use a dab of Versamark reinker and black embossing powder for the flower centers and butterfly markings.  I should have practiced first, as it did not work well.  I am not sure if it was the technique or the shiny cs, but the heat gun pretty much made the embossing powder disappear rather than create a shiny dot - I did a second application on several flowers.

Flowers and doodles

The flowers are cut from a Cuttlebug die which is part of the Olivia alpha set - one of the first Cuttlebug purchases I made years ago!  I used a tiny pop dot to raise the smaller blossom.  The centers are gems by Hampton Art.  The stripes and peachy bg are parts of the same large page of DPn and the critter is one of Cheery Lynn's tiny things with wings.  A note about that...I wanted to make it pop a bit, so I decided to cut a second one with black cs to back up the orange.  Well, all those tiny openings result in separate pieces.  My plan was to tape the black ones on the back of the orange bug.  That was not at all easy to do with such tiny pieces - but I finally made it!  Does any one have a better suggestion?

New and Glittery for Janet

If you look at my other cards, you will notice that this style is pretty much out of my comfort zone - and for good reason - I just do not do it well.  However, one of my resolutions is to try something new once in a while!  Your comments are welcome.
New supplies - Spellbinder Flourish Impressabilities - sponged with lilac ink.  Side note - I looked for suggestions on how to use the Impressabilities - so far, I have not seen any.  Can you help?
Seldom used: Die-namics Swirls die; Petaloo glittery flowers.
