Less is More Sketch

Hello,
I am posting this late this evening instead of early morning so I can link it up the fabulous LIM challenge blog as I out at the craft fair at Lyndhurst again Sunday morning, do pop in if you are in Lyndhurst, it is in the Community Centre, I would love to say Hi!
Anyway, I love this weeks sketch at LIM and wanted to play straight away but we have had a busy day today though baking cupcakes (pics to follow) and looking after puppy too ;-) So, I finished this just before I went to work tonight, I used a colour combo of Peach Parfait, Rose Red and a touch of Basic Black to take away some of the sweetness...
The flowers are die cut from the Fun Flowers Die and embossed with the perfect polka dots folder (both exclusive to SU!). I filled two flowers with Rose Red buttons tied with Silver Cord and made a little ribbon rose for the third, tutorial in side bar,
I love this pic showing the dimension of the flowers, I love my cards not to be too flat.... as you may have noticed ;-)
and a last little pic inside,
Well, that's it from me tonight, I have a very early start again tomorrow.
Thanks ever so for stopping by and thanks to Mandi and Chrissie for their inspiration again, mwah!

Good Morning to you all,
Welcome to the first lay in of the holidays... well the first one without the school run anyway!
I have scheduled this post so I will probably be still in my jarmies when this publishes ;-) well, here's hoping anyway!
So onto the crafty stuff!
I have a picture today of the bath bombs I made for the teachers as part of their gifts, I gave one to each of the teachers and also the assistants, they might need a nice relaxing bath after all the stress of working with kids all year ;-)

I put four of the bombs in SU! large cello bags then simply a
made a matching tag tying them on with ribbon, unfortunately ran out after four so had to use cello for the last two, a bit more fiddly but I used this to my advantage and tied with different colour ribbon and made those two the ones for the actual teachers, good plan eh?!

And here they are all together, In the end I put each set in a paper bag and added a matching tag, it was late when I made these so didn't get a piccie unfortunately. Apple is fromTart and Tangy stamped in versamark and For You is from One of a Kind
So that's all for today, thanks for stopping by and have a great day

A little set of 4

Well, I have been creating even if I haven't blogged for a couple of days :0)
I have got so much to do this week as on Friday I am going to visit my lovely friend (and upline) Julie, I am so excited, she has got a full day class on Saturday so crafting and fun all weekend I'm sure!
So here is today's project, made using the FREE set Whimsical Words. {yours too if you spend £45 ;0)}
I have had my eye on this set of DSP for a while now but since I got them a couple of weeks ago I have just not had a chance to get into them until today, so I was very happy to be able to have a play. I have spent most of today getting inky, what a way to spend a day!

Heart to Heart punch on the left and Boho Blossoms (which matches the One of a Kind stamp set here on the middle flower) used on the right to punch co-ordinating card stock,

For the one on the left I punched the paper and turned the flowers round and stuck them back in, love double sided paper! Love you much set used to make the patterned hearts on the right,

Here is the set together, all the sentiments are from Whimsical Words. I even stamped the envies to finish,
Well I hope you like and I will be back tomorrow with some more creations, I will be a much better blogger this week, I promise !
Take care and have a great day,

Happy Birthday Elaine

Hello,
Super Quick post as I'm off to the dentist in a mo :0( not looking forward to it, let me tell you! I have a change from Christmas card today, yay! It was Elaine's birthday yesterday, my SU! sister, Happy Birthday Elaine, I hope you got your card already and had a lovely birthday xxx Anyways, here is the card I made for her,
I roughly drew the wavy line on the card and stamped underneath it with the large flower from One of a Kind stamps set in pale plum the same as the card, I then stamped the set of 3 flowers in Perfect Plum and punched them out using the Boho Blossoms Punch, I also glittered the flowers using a glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds,
another few flowers decorate the inside and the sentiment is from Sincere Salutations,
As you can see I stuck some of the flowers down and raised some on Foam pads for dimension, some lovely white satin ribbon and scallop edge punch finish this one off.
Right, must dash, don't want to be late, thanks for looking,

SWU Colour Challenge

Morning all,
I do hope you all had a lovely weekend, back to school this morning for the kiddies, Zack is in 'till 11.30 for the next couple of days (that's O.K. it's just like pre-school) staying for lunch on thurs and fri, then next week all day (aaaarrrrggghhh!!!) anyway, I'll try to be brave ;0)
I did get a little time to play yesterday, so I was doing a bit of looking around for inspiration and decided to use the Stamp With Us colour challenge, now this was their photo....

Right, it's lovely yes? but the card I made with these colours, well, I think it turned out O.K. but it is one of those cards where the idea I had in my head ...well lets just say it wasn't really like this...

BUT I am happy with the stamps still (Good friend again) and love the colours too, it's just not how I imagined it to be...

Colours used were Tempting Turquoise, Pink Passion, Only Orange and Gable Green for the flowers, Sentiment from One of a Kind. Ribbon is Certainly Celery (5/8") and Whisper White (1/4")

I even stamped a little on the inside

Here is the arty angle.
Right I'm off for a cuppa, let me know what you think of this one would you?
Have a good day

A Hug for Elaine

Morning all, I have scheduled this post so here's hoping you get to see it! I am off out today with hubby as we are celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary. Not too sure where we are going yet but I will let you know on Sunday! (in case you are interested, lol)
I have sent this card to my lovely SU! sister Elaine .
Sending you a big (((hug))) Elaine and if you need anything you know where we are xx

Card made using SU! dsp in choc chip and using Sincere salutations for the outside sentiment and one of a kind for the flowers , the with love sentiment was from Yummy. This card was also done for a challenge but I missed it by a mile ! lol! (Jan!) I used this weeks sketch from the Sunday Sketch challenge blog by the lovely Karen Giron. Never mind will be more organised next week! (maybe!)

I made this the other night whilst having a virtual chat (and challenges) with my Stampin' Up! sisters, organised by our SU! mum Julie, we had to make a card inspired by our home and I have lots of different brown tiles in my bathroom and a hot pink bathmat, so this comes from there too.

Hope you all have a good day and thanks for stopping by,

Hugs to ya, Sarah-Jane xx

My Kind Friend

Hello for the second time today!
I won't have time to post tomorrow as I have my first workshop and it's my friends little boys birthday get-together in the afternoon.
Right, this has got to be a super quick post as I'm off to work in a mo :(
I have made a card today which qualifies for the Stamp with us challenge which this week was a colour challenge, This was the inspiration:

I have to say I did love these colours but have spent all week thinking about how to interpret it!! I finally decided on this card, which also follows the sketch this week at Friday Sketchers.

I am actually really pleased with the end result. I used Choc Chip dsp, One of a Kind stamps, Friend sentiment from Occasional Greetings, Boho Blossoms Punch, some string from my scrap drawer (which does overfloweth!!!), a bit of choc chip grosgrain ribbon and a button from my stash.
Thanks for looking and any comments you may leave,
Happy weekend and hugs, Sarah-Jane xx

Just Because I Care

Morning all,
Woo Hoo !! another lovely day here!
I have another flower pot style card to show you today, It is the last one for the lady at hubby's work and she wanted a card for her mum, I made this...

The same measurements as the last one but this time I used my One of a kind stamps to make the flowers and the matching Boho Blossoms punch. It is exactly the same as the flowers in this set, so you stamp then punch them straight out, neat eh?!
Close to cocoa card and embossed with Swiss dots Cuttlebug folder, Certainly celery ribbon, Certainly Celery textured card for the insert,
Inks used were Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and the large flower is in Regal Rose, I covered some of the flowers in glossy accents and used a glue pen to add glitter to others, I also added some little pearls to the middle of some of the flowers. Here is a close up as I popped some onto Foam Pads too! Just realised the sentiment looks really wonky in this piccie above, but I know it isn't IRL ! Honest!
Well, I have to go and hang out the washing now so I hope you all have a good day and I will be back tomorrow with a preview of the card set we are making on Saturday, details in the side bar! Have a good day in the sun,
Hugs Sarah-Jane xx

Cross Over Card Tutorial

Hi Folks,
As a couple of people did request this tutorial, I have made one for you but I think it may be a bit long winded !!! Sorry!!! This is my first tutorial so please be gentle with me !!! Lots of piccies as I'm not very good at explaining when writing.

Equipment needed:
2x Square card blanks
Tombow Glue (or other wet glue)
1x Sheet of 12x12 DSP
SU! Tab punch
Ribbon
Thin and very sticky double sided tape
Decoration
I will let you know which materials I have used as the post goes on.
First of all you need your two cards (mine were from Craftworks Cards and are approx 14.8 cm square (just over 5,3/4 ") facing each other so one opens the wrong way.
Next you need to cut the wrong way round card down the back to leave a lip approx. the width of your DS Tape, DO NOT THROW THIS AWAY as it is your page for the inside! You then cut off half the front of both cards diagonally, as shown, and add your tape,
Using the Designer Paper, you will need to cut:
1x 14cm square for the front which you cut in half diagonally ,
1x 4.5cm x 12" (full length of the paper) strip,
1x approx 14x13cm for layering inside,
1x square of scrap white card (for joining the band),
1x 12x12.5 cm of white card for writing inside and
1x tab of blue card for the top.
I used Washington Apple DSP by SU! and as it is double sided I could have a different pattern on the inside and round the band, to that which is on the front.
Don't forget these measurements are for this size of card blank, please adjust accordingly !

Next I ink all the edges before I stick the paper down, TIP I use a cheap make-up sponge to ink my edges as it is small enough to handle and gives just the right amount of control ! See pic below for inked and non-inked. Remember Less is more when putting ink onto your sponge!

The next step is to glue all the pieces of paper onto your card blank and inside page, whilst the glue dries it's time to make the band. First of all you need to add ribbon to the paper, I use tape for this which I stick over the edges of the paper so I get it straight, as shown, then I stick the ribbon onto the tape again using the grid to apply in a straight line. TIP I use a barely wet brush of clear nail varnish on the ends of all my ribbon to prevent fraying.
I then glue 1/2 the scrap piece of paper to one end of the band and pull tightly around card, then you carefully slide it off and hold until the glue dries with paperclips,
Now the fun part! Whilst the glue is drying I get my decoration ready !
I used Oval all stamps, the Thank-You one for the border and the Best Wishes one for the sentiment on the top, Punched using the oval and scalloped oval SU! punches then it's layered and ready to go onto the band.
On the inside I used the flowers from One of a Kind stamp set inked in Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie, to match my papers, Punched with the co-ordinating Boho Blossoms punch,
Phew, Sorry it's such a long post but I think I have covered most things !!! Let me know what you think and remember this is how I make this card not necessarily the right or easiest way !! Although I think it is quite easy like this !!
Thanks for sticking in there and I will be back tomorrow with another crossover card I made for some-body the other day,
Happy Easter
Sarah-Jane xx
