Ready for the snow at The Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup, Heidi has us embracing the winter season, without thinking about the holidays. Basically, we are celebrating winter!

I kind of worked this card a bit backwards. Typically I start with the focal point and work my way to the card base. This time, I started with the card base and added layers upwards to the house.

For the house, I started by roughing up a piece of Smoky Slate Core'dinations cardstock. I didn't want to colour the house with markers, as I wanted it to be light and textured. I like the effect of the sanded Core'dinations! I wiped it down to make sure all the loose bits were removed and then I stamped the house from Holiday Home.

The windows, door and roof were fussy cut and glued on to the Smoky Slate. I coloured the roof and door with Night of Navy Blendabilities by Stampin' Up! I added a little yellow glow to the windows as well.

Nutty for Colour Me...!

This week at Colour Me...! we are going Striking and using Night of Navy and Tangelo Twist. I can't stop making Christmas cards, so that's where I went with this combo as well.

My son thought the 'nutty or nice' saying was just the funniest thing. I have to admit, I really do love this stamp set! And it's so much fun to colour... so many options. If you don't have Santa Stache, you should definitely consider it!

I finally got these cute little 'stache stamps from the set Santa Stache. I coloured these little cuties with Blendabilities (Skin Tones for the faces, Crumb Cake for the Nutcrackers mustache/hair, Smoky Slate for Santa's hair/beard, Cherry Cobbler for hats/clothes and Daffodil Delight for crown/accents).

I can't wait to make some more tags with this fun little set.

Secret's Out! - Canadian Conference Project #1

I've been so excited to share this news, and I'm finally able to do so!

I was contacted by Stampin' Up! Canada to design the Make & Take projects for some of the conferences that are happening around Canada from Sep-Nov. Three other fab Canadian designers were contacted to do the same, for other cities (I've linked to their blogs below).

First up was the Kitchener conference, which happened October 3rd/4th. These are the projects I designed for those two days.

Daffodil Delight for Colour Me...!

Weee, it's that time of the month again - Monochromatic week!! I love Monochromatic week at Colour Me...!. I'm always so fascinated to see how so many people can use the same colour and have the projects look so different.

I've been wanting to try the stained glass technique with the Blendabilities for a while now, and finally got tried it out on this card. 

I brayered the background in Daffodil Delight. The flowers were embossed with White on a piece of vellum and then cut out. The back of the vellum was coloured with Daffodil Delight Blendabilities and then popped up on the background.

Though faint, the sentiment reads "With Sympathy".

Perfect Peacock for Colour Me...!

Well, can you believe it? It's been 6 months since Hayley and I launched Colour Me...! 6 months!! It's so bitter sweet... We have been blessed with such a wonderful inaugural team, and we love each of them and their unique style. We knew this day would come, but it's so difficult to say goodbye!

On the flip side, we have another wicked-awesome team to inspire you each week! You'll be meeting them soon enough, so stay tuned :)

For our last challenge with the fab Design Team #1, we have a playful 4-colour combo.

I made this card for my sister-in-law's birthday this past week. I had SO much fun colouring the Perfect Peacock with the new Blendabilities... Turns out, I'm addicted to them. Hardcore.

To spice it up a bit, I used some Dazzling Diamonds here and there. It has such a pretty, sparkly look in person (doesn't come out quite the same in the photo though).
