White on White (on a bit of Sahara Sand)

Sara is our hostess this week at The Friday Mashup and she has a lovely challenge for us.

Our challenge was to create a project with trees and embossing (heat or dry). I chose to do a whole bunch of dry embossing! I saw these really funky trees at a store not too long ago, on some super awesome pillows... Unfortunately, the pillows didn't match my decor, so they didn't come home with me ;)

I embossed panels of Whisper White with various embossing folders and then cut them out freehand in different tree-like shapes. The pillow had patterned 'trees' and then solid circles in them, so I mimicked that with some un-embossed white circles.

The tree trunks were cut from a piece of Whisper White that I had stamped with the Hardwood background stamp. A little anniversary greeting was stamped at the top in Sahara sand.

Coffee and Friends at the Dynamic Duos

Happy Saturday, friends!

It's time for a brand new challenge at Dynamic Duos and this week we have a fabulous colour combo for you; Old Olive and Pacific Point. 

I was feeling like I hadn't used the wonderful Perfect Blend set in WAY too long, so that was my go-to for this challenge. I threw in Early Espresso for my neutral this week to give it a bit of 'edge' ;)

I embossed a piece of Pacific Point Core'dinations paper with the Argyle EF and sanded it down to give texture. I then used the Off the Grid stamp to give a little extra something to the panel for the coffee cup (mmmmcoffeeeee). I wanted to use the Washi Tape from the holiday catalogue, so I ripped some off and used it to 'attach' my panel. I finished it off with some White Candy Dots, et Voila!

Sneak Peek Week - Day #2

It was supposed to be a very dreary weekend - and yesterday lived up to that pretty well.. But it looks like today is going to get nice! I've made myself a coffee and am catching up on a little blogland items I have on my to-do list.

For today's 'sneak peek', I wanted to share another one of my new favourite stamps - Perfect Blend. Not going to lie, I love my coffee. And so do most of my friends and family.

When I first saw this, I immediately thought of my brother and my hubby. It would make great birthday cards for them. But, the first time using it I went with a more feminine theme :)

I use a lot of stamp sets in this one; Perfect Blend, Clockworks, You're My Hero (another one coming up in a sneak peek post), and the stamp from My Paper Pumpkin.

Some other new goodies: Washi Tape & Candy Dots. Umm, yum.

I made this card for the current Sunday Stamps challenge. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Holly and the rest of the Design Team for such a great time with them. It was a difficult decision, but I needed to take a step back and simplify life a little. That being said, I'm going to go back and play with them as often as possible - because they rock and I'd mis them if I didn't! Go stop by!

I also used the sketch over at Fab Friday - It has been WAY too long since I played with them (wow... since challenge #2?! Well, that's embarrassing...)

A little birdie told me...

Good Friday morning!

So, it's storming out. Freezing rain, snow, winds, you know... Stuff that's OK in January/February. Not completely welcome here on April 12th.

Today's card is extra bright to make up for it! This card is for a dear friend who always makes me smile - so I hope the cheerfulness of this card makes her smile too!

Notecards for all occasions!

Today I'm sharing a project I made for this week's challenge at Dynamics Duos. Two of my fav colours - it was pretty hard to resist.

1 stamp set, 1 punch, 2 colours and some embellishements (Ok... and the Big Shot and some embossing folders, but that's just for something a little extra!) and you can make these cute little notecard for all occasions! 

Happy Valentine's Day was embellished with some itty bitty heart buttons and some Lace tape (which was stuck to some whisper white and punched out with the ticket duo punch).

Perfect Polka Dots, Stripes and Cloudy Day embossing folders were used.

Precious Baby was embellished with some Pool Party Baker's Twine. Perfect Polka Dots and Argyle embossing folders were used. 

Christmas Wishes to you & Yours was embellished with a little banner and some Rhinestones. 

Perfect Polka Dots and Stripes embossing folders were used.

White on White at The Friday Mashup!

Happy Friday!

This week at The Friday Mashup Erica has a fun sketch for us!

 

I wanted to stay (very!) neutral on this one, so opted with Vanilla on White ;) I added a bit of shimmer paint to the Crumb Cake butterfly and the edges of the strips of DSP. The background was embossed with the Argyle embossing folder, which I love, and then spritz witht he Colour Spritzer.

Here it is; my first time hosting the challenge at The Friday Mashup! as a designer. I'm really excited about this one, not only because it features some bright, fun colours, but also because it showcases one of my favourite techniques - paper-piecing.
