Fairytale Clipboard

Hello friends! I'd like to share another make from the
NEW Tim Holtz Idea-ology release.

The foundation of the Clipboard was cover with Paper Strips after a sewed along the edge.
The Layer Frames - Montage with the fun stitching was perfect for the base of the Paper Doll Poses.

The sweet Paper Doll for the new poses was colored with Distress Crayons then I added a little vintage lace on her hem, a ribbon at her waist, a small bow at the color and the wand in her hand. I also added some wings behind her.

The clip at the top was painted black and accented with Gold Metallic mixative. The Sweetheart Adornment pack has these darling embellishments also colored with Gold Metallic Mixative and accented with Black Distress Crayon.

The word band is from the new Typed Tags pack. You can fill the letters with the Picket Fence Distress Crayon so they stand out. The tied it around the clipboard with a bow. Don't forget to add a piece of Vintage Lace under the edge.

The Salvaged Hearts are a lovely accent I also colored it with Foundry Wax then rubbed it with Steel Wool for an aged look. Around the bow I added some flowers (bouquet) and vintage buttons. The little flowers are died with Distress Ink and the centers are carefully painted with Gold Metallic Mixative.

You can see a green stamp for the Postmark Sticker Book in the upper right.

The New Idea-ology release has so many amazing items to use on a variety of projects. On this project my favorite are the Paper Strips.

Dear Santa Divided Box - Tim Holz Idea-ology Christmas release

Hello friends! I'm so excited to finally share one of my favorite makes from the new Tim Holtz Idea-ology Holiday release. Such an amazing release so you can create festive projects for the holiday season. If you missed the Facebook Live you can see all the details on Tim's blog.

Here is my Dear Santa Divided Box.
My sweet granddaughter Clara choose the Dear Santa charm,

Loving the new colored lights on my tree. And do you see the Cathedral Windows with a vellum snow scene out the window.

Santa is delivering presents to the little girl at this house. How does Santa look so great after coming down the chimney? He's from the Snippets Ephemera Pack.

The Tiny Snow Globe looks like a little vintage snow globe. I added a few Remnants Rubs and then splattered it with some white paint so it looks like its snowing inside.

The big half tree is adorned with Antiqued Gems. I love the sparkle and you could even alcohol ink them for colored ornaments.

Noel has a few Remnant Rub words rubbed on them and the candy vellum scene back lite with the Tiny Lights. The top is adorned with the new Velvet ribbon which ties in a bows so nice and the Little Dear Santa Token that Clara choose for my project.

Stay tune! I'll be doing some mini tutorials on some of the special techniques I used on this project.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I hope you are inspired to make something for the holidays!

A Girl and Her Drill! - Tim Holtz Halloween Skulls

Hi friends! I love to alter things and what better way then to use power tools.Todays tutorial is all about lighting up the Tim Holtz Skulls with the new Halloween Tiny Lights.

Just by adding a few holes in the Skull you can make Mr. Cranium light up.
I will be using a drill but a Dremel would work as well! Please follow all manufacturers instructions and always be carefully when using power tools.

First I chose a bit size that would fit in to the eye socket. Then I drilled out the eyes angling towards the center of the skull!

Now drill up from the bottom, I sized up this bit to get a larger hole so there's a little more room for the lights.

Use a small brush to color inside the eye sockets, I used Mushroom Alcohol Ink but any brownish grayish will work fine.

If your going to stack the skull on top of something (a pumpkin) or place it in something that has a base (a dome) you will have to drill that as well. Carefully fold the light and thread through your stack being VERY careful not to over work the wires of the lights. They can break! I know this from experience, so just be gentle. Thread the lights independently and then adhere the stack staring from the top (the skull) and work down. TIP: I always work with the light on so I know they are working properly and it's fun to see it all come together.

I have always loved using lights, it brings your creativity to the next level.
Try lighting up your next project.

Hocus Pocus Wicked Vignette Tray - New Tim Holtz Idea-ology

Hello friends! I absolutely LOVE halloween. I don't really remember much from when I was a little girl like what I dressed up as or my favorite cand, but now it's my favorite holiday and creating projects is always magical to me. The new release has some very spooktacular and fun things I know you're going to love. This is my favorite project that I created with the new Tim Holtz Idea-ology release.

"Wicked Hocus Pocus "

Here is a peek.....so much spooky goodness, bones, bugs, pumpkins, skulls and more.

The new Entomology Adornments are so creepy. I colored them with the Alcohol Pearls and I love the iridescent look.

I altered the skulls by drilling out the eyes and inserted the lights so they would glow with the new purple Tiny Lights.
The new mushrooms and the Paper Dolls have been colored with the Distress Glazes.

The new Departed Paper Stash has some amazing designs love this cracked wood finish on the outside of the box.
I'll be teaching this project in an all day class soon, details to follow. I'll be back soon with another Halloween project.

Halloween releases from Tim Holtz

Hello friends! I want to thank everyone at Whim So Doodle for an incredible couple of days of classes and thanks to everyone who came out to classes too. The store is truly inspiring and they have everything you need for paper crafting, lettering, art supplies, gift items and even a quilting and sewing section. They also have Tim's Eclectic Elements fabric.

Today I'd like to share a few samples I made for the Tim Holtz Halloween releases. The releases have been awesome. If you missed the Facebook live with Tim be sure to check his blog for all the details. I hope you love the new products as much as I do!

SIZZIX ALTERATIONS
The new Sizzix Alterations release is full of classic, spooky and whimsical Halloween dies.
You can make cards, Mixed Media projects, treat bags and so much more.

This card Bewitching Hour has to be my favorite card of the Sizzix release called Witchcraft. The die is a Thinlit Die and comes with the Witch holding her broom, the Cat and the Stars.

Color the background on Mixed Media Heavyweight cardstock using Distress Oxide Inks (Seedless Preserves, Twisted Citron, and Black Soot) then die cut the Stars out of the background. The Witch and Cat are die cut from black cardstock and then I add Distress Oxide Ink with an Ink Blending Tool over the Cat using the new Black Soot.

For the word Halloween I inked the Rosettes Texture Fade with Black Soot Archival Ink and embossed it on to the Green cardstock which created this fun debossed paper. Die cut the word Halloween form the Thin Halloween Words Thinlits die.  The Thin Words die is perfect for cards! I also added one of the stars from the background for the center of the "O". I did some stitching around the card then assembled my card.

Idea-ology
Idea-ology is always a favorite for me! Love all the little treasures that are perfect for this Vignette box.

Paint the Finials with Black Soot Distress Paint and set aside to dry. Add Halloween Design Tape around the front edge of the large Vignette Box and wrap around to both sides. Cut a piece of the Halloween Paper Stash to fit the back of the box.

Choose a few pieces of Ephemera from the Halloween Pack and this will be the focal point of your piece . Elevate the Ephemera off the back of the box. I used a double stack of Game Pieces (about 1/2"thick). Tie Halloween Trimmings around the Finial at the top with a Halloween Shape Token.

Cut pieces of Halloween Paper to fit behind the Halloween Transparent Tiles and adhere them about 1/4" off the back of the box. Add a thin layer of Glossy Accents to the Monocle. An Heirloom Rose is always a nice touch for the lapel.

Add Apothecary Vials with labels and hand made tags to tie around the neck of the bottles.  Adhere the Mini Pumpkins and Skull with Collage Medium. You can also add a Halloween Word Band to the front of the box. Adhere Finials with Collage Medium and let dry.

Stampers Anonymous
Stamps and Stencils are a staple for creating cards and great for Mixed Media projects as well. The new Halloween stamps and stencils are spooktacular I know you will LOVE them!

Start with a Black Cabinet Card and sand it a little with a Sanding Grip to grunge it up. Add a little stenciling using the new Distress Oxide Inks on an Ink Blending Tool and the Crossed Layering Stencil for a magical effect. Because theses Oxide Inks are a Pigment/Dye fusion the inks have enough opacity to show up on black. The background of the house was also done with Distress Oxide inks. Stamp the Haunted House with Black Soot Archival Ink, then take the waterbrush and lift color where the windows of the house are, now you can add color back with a Fossilized Amber Distress marker. Add color to the sides and roof of the house too.

For the base of the card I stamped the Skulls background over a Kraft card. Small Talk Occasions has several Halloween and fall sayings that work great!

Alcohol Ink the Word Band, Numeral Token, and Roses. I also dyed some Linen Ribbon with Black Soot Distress Spray Stain. Adhere the layers and add the embellishments for this wicked haunted card.

I hope you find these inspiring!
