My Copic Certification Class

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday. I had a very busy weekend. My husband drove me all the way to Kelowna which is about 1 1/2 hours ferry ride + 5 hours drive. It's a long way, but I always wanted to take the Copic class, so I did. I was worried I needed to cancel it due to my dad's illness. Luckily he got better and phew I was able to go.

During this class, I met some wonderful fellow Copic lovers. I am grateful to meet some familiar people. Here is MADGE from Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group. Madge, it's a great pleasure get to meet you in person after seeing many of your wonderful Tilda & Edwin creations :o)

I also met PEGGY who happened to be from the current Your Next Stamp DTs which was a DT I used to belong. So glad to meet you Peggy and how wonderful to meet someone in the same wonderful DT :o)

And of course, I have to show you our wonderful instructor SHERRIE. Thank you Sherrie for an awesome class. I brought home full of Copic information and some new techniques with me. I sure will keep practicing and hope to color as well as you someday :o)

Thank you for stopping by today and I will continued be on the road. I am not heading home yet until this afternoon. Right now I am still in my hotel room rushing for this post, hehe. After I get home and settle, I will be able to catch up with my over 100+ emails!! See you all again soon :o)

Tutorial - Copic Coloring for Hair - YNS

Another tutorial? yep, another one. Here is another hair tutorial with a different stamp line. Today's sample is Cupcake Cutie Fhiona from YNS. I will be using the same three tones again. Since Fhiona's hair area is much bigger than Tilda, so I tend to use more brushing for this images.

*****Black Hair tutorial*****
Black Hair - 100, C8, C5, C00
First, let's see the finished black hair sample

Step #1 - (Sorry, but I accidentally deleted the step 1 pictures) However, first marker is #100. You use the 100 to make a gap (space line) as her hair part to separate between the left & right section of top hair. (the part by her hair-band). When coloring her pony tail, use a little curve stroke to brush the marker from the top and brush it toward to the left side where her pony tail hanging. But remember to leave some space in between to fill shadowing later with some lighter markers.

Step #2 - Use #C8 to brush over the black but make the brush line longer than the 100 yet to leave some space for shadowing later.

Step #3 - Use #C5 to start brushing little lines from the edges of each last stroke of #C8, but still to leave a little space for the last light marker to shadow. For the middle part line, draw a very narrow straight lines lightly (See left pic below)

Step #4 - Use #C00 to brush over the part line and then also to fill up shadowing by brushing the rest of empty space.

*****Brown Hair tutorial*****
Brown Hair - E49, E37, E41 (These are my favorite brown hair combo)

Step #1 - you basically use the same stroke, but just using E49 to start. (See left pic below)

Step #2 - to use E37 brushing/blending in a curve motion, so that your pony tail and hair looks like it's moving from the wind....well...at least I am hoping that the result will look a bit like that :o)

Step #3 - Instead of using the circle motion to fill up the empty space, I like to do mine by brushing little lines, I find that it looks more natural that way, but you can just use whatever way that works for you and as you wish :o)

*****Yellow Hair tutorial*****
Yellow Hair - Y38, Y17, Y15, Y00

OK, I think you already have an idea, so I am just going to post the pictures to show you the marker #s.

Step #1 - see left pic below, Step #2 - see right pic below

Step #3 - see left pic below, Step #4 - see right pic below

Thank you for stopping by. I might have another same type of hair coloring to share with you for other stamp lines soon :o)

Bride Tilda Distress ink + Copic coloring

Good morning, a short post today.
I've never tried painting with distress ink, but since going through so many wonderful bloggers' blogs and saw their wonderful painting job, I decided to play a little with it and see what it would turn out. Also, I've never tried using water color paper before. This image was stamped on a 140lb water color paper.

I bought this Bride Tilda from Magnolia-licious a while ago, but never get a free moment to use it. Today I picked her as my practice and was hoping I am able to get some vintage theme somehow. Hehe, thank you Bride Tilda for letting me to try you!!

I tried to take a pictures on each set of colors I used to share with you today. The Distress Ink I used for this practice is "Walnet Stain".

This is my finished image coloring. As you see, that I painted over the outlines, which happens to me often, because I tend to use the lightest color to brush over top and blend the colors, so for not caring about painting it over the image outline since I usually cut out the images for my projects.

Skin tone: E11, E00, E000, Distress ink

Outline - W00, W1, W5, Distress Ink

Hair & Crown- YR24, YR23, Y17, Y00

Wedding Gown - BG93, W5, W1, W00

Bouquet - R59, R14, R02, G99, G21

Ok, that's all I have to share with you today and hope you like this post :o) Thank you for stopping by today and hope to see you again soon!
