Dusty Attic DT Layout - "Happy"

Hi everyone,
Cathy here today, sharing my layout for this month.

"Happy"
I absolutely adore the recent release Creative Script chipboard!!  I altered by coating with Dusty in Colour Faded Denim, which is a quick and easy way to make your chipboard pieces pop.  I find applying the paint with a sponge gives better coverage than using a brush.

I also watered down the paint a little and flicked randomly over my background, along with some Lindys mist in a softer blue.

To tie in with my colour scheme, I altered the DeVine Frame corners and Happy title with Little Birdie cream chalk paint.  I highlighted the leaves on the corner frames with Distress Oxide in Frayed Burlap to create a little dimension.

The Dusty in Colour Clear Gloss Varnish is one of my must have products.  As I love to create with texture and dimension, the gloss varnish is perfect for adhering microbeads, sequins, beads and art stones to your mixed media backgrounds.  Just squeeze out a bit onto your messy mat pick up the gloss with a brush, then pick up your beads.  You can then just brush your beads/stones onto your background... so quick and easy!!

Dusty Attic March Mood Board Challenge - Remember Today

Hi everyone,  Today I am sharing my take on this month's Mood Board Challenge at Dusty Attic.  How gorgeous is the colour palette and shabby roses and peonies theme!!
"Remember Today"

The inspiration I took from this month's Mood Board was the colour palette, pretty blooms and lace doily.
To create my background I stencilled with the Damask #2 stencil and Prima Modelling Paste.  I then stamped the floral pattern by applying Dusty in Colour sugar plum acrylic paint to the Stampers Anonymous vines and roses stamp, then spritzed with a touch of water to give a watercolour effect.  I also stamped with Kaisercraft script background, then finished off with the beautiful Dress My Craft White Sunshine sequins for a bit more texture, which I applied with Dusty in Colour Clear Gloss Varnish.

I altered the Dusty Attic Vintage Frame #2, Lacey Trims and Foliage #1 chipboard pieces by coating first with gesso, then applying white liquid pearls, which creates a beautiful finish for those shabby chic/romantic layouts.
How sweet are the recent release Mini Captions!!  I altered my title with Dusty in Colour sugar plum acrylic paint and white liquid pearls.

Dusty Attic July Mood Board Challenge - Nature's Beauty

Hi Everyone,
Today I am sharing my take on this month's Mood Board/Sketch Challenge at Dusty Attic.

Why not enter for your chance to win a $100 Prize Voucher from The Dusty Attic website.  You can use the Mood Board or sketch for inspiration or if you're feeling adventurous, why not use both!! All you need to do is add Dusty Attic chipboard to your creation and link up to the Blog Site on the top right hand side.
How gorgeous is the colour palette in this month's Mood Board... the contrast of the teal, orange and white is divine!!

'Nature's Beauty'
My son recently went to Japan and one of the highlights of his trip, was a visit to a fox sanctuary, so as soon as I saw the orange from the colour palette it made me think of this beautiful photo he snapped of the red fox all curled up in the brilliant white snow.

To create my background, I used the recent release Gradient Stencil and Dusty Attic Texture Paste, then misted over with a mix of 2 Lindy's Starburst Mists and once dry, stamped over with a crackle background stamp in teal ink.
The Vine Corner #2 chipboard was cut into sections, painted with Capri Dusty in Colour, then coated with seafoam Liquid Pearls and whilst wet sprinkled with teal microbeads.  Once dry, I lightly swiped over with gesso to create the effect of a light dusting of snow.

To draw the eye to the gorgeous photo, I decided to frame it with the Large Crazy Stitching chipboard, which I coated with Viva Inka Gold in Copper.

To create my title I used the Mini ABC Script and Words #2 chipboard, which I coated first with gesso, then with white Liquid Pearls.

Dusty Attic DT - Precious Layout

Hi everyone,
Cathy here today, sharing a layout I created with a couple of the gorgeous new release Dusty Attic chipboard designs.  OMG how beautiful are the new Mystic Chipboard Frames... I'm in love!!!  they are a wonderful way to make your precious photos sing.
'Precious'
I decided to use both Frame #1 and #2, by using the larger #1 Frame to draw the eye to my photo and cutting the smaller #2 Frame in half for my side embellishment cluster.

To alter the Frames, I primed them first with gesso, then coated with Viva Inka Gold in Platium for a soft shimmery effect.  The leaves were painted with Dusty in Colour Crushed Olive, then coated with green glitter glass, which I adhered with Dusty Attic Clear Gloss Varnish.

The 'precious' title word from the Mini Words #2 pack was primed with gesso, then coated with Dusty in Colour Crushed Olive and lightly dabbed over with the Mossy Inx to create a lovely mottled effect.
To create bit of contrast and texture, I stenciled my background with the Distressed Diamonds Stencil first with the Dusty in Colour Crushed Olive.   I then mixed Dusty in Colour Texture Paste with Prima Frank Garcia Artisan Powder in French Sage, then repositioned then stencil over the stenciled areas, moved it over slightly, then stenciled with the paste to create a shadow effect.

Why not pop in to the online store to see all the gorgeous new Chipboard and Stencil Designs!!
