Victoria, Victoria Beckham x Nails Inc collection swatches and review

At last count I have waaaay too many nail polishes for one person to ever need so I've been quite selective in what I add to my stash lately. One collection that I've been dying to own though is Victoria Beckham's Limited Edition collaboration with Nails Inc. inspired by her Summer 2015 collection. I searched high and low to get my hands on the collection before the release in Aus but no such luck unfortunately! I loved the look of both Bamboo White and Judo Red so when I found out that they would be available exclusively from Sephora earlier this month off to the city I went!

What they say:

"The collection is said to be the chicest beauty launch of the year - a unique limited edition duo of nail polishes developed to sit alongside the Victoria Beckham Spring Summer 2015 collection. The polishes have been inspired by the feel of the collection and its subtle incorporation of Japanese elements creating THE MUST-HAVE new season nail looks.

The covetable and collectible duo features two new polish shades – Judo Red and Bamboo White - developed with an exclusive formulation featuring Stretch-To-Fit technology and Bamboo Extract with Silica and is presented within a sleek new bottle design."

The new concave glass bottles are made from Venetian glass and designed by Fabien Baron and customised by Victoria Beckham and come packaged in a LE Nails Inc. gift box. The bottles are fully frosted and available in matte black and matte white with matching caps and transparent glass sides that reveal the hidden polish colour.

I haven't bought Nails Inc. in ages and the last time I did they were still in the round bottles! I actually prefer the look of the round bottles but these ones are soooooo much easier to take mani pics with.

The brush is thick and curved which I don't normally like (I find a straight brush gives me more control) however I found it easy to get a clean finish with minimal clean up.

Bamboo White is a pink toned bone creme that is absolutely beautiful and it's already surpassed Bloom Toni and Kester Black Buttercream as my favourite nude shade. The formula is buttery and fully opaque in 2 easy coats drying to a high gloss finish. It's just gorgeous!! 2 coats is pictured.

Judo Red is a tomato red creme that leans very orange and is super opaque and glossy. You could get away with just 1 careful coat however I still prefer doing 2 out of habit. 2 coats is pictured.

Overall: Since leaving behind her "Posh Spice" moniker, Victoria Beckham hasn't put a fashion foot wrong in my eyes and this collection just reaffirms it for me. The formulas are amazingly opaque and I'm loving the chic matte bottles and the new brush as well. I'm such a sucker for LE products and packaging too! I'm picky when it comes to nudes and Bamboo White complements my skintone and is the perfect palette cleanser - definitely the must have.

The shades aren't groundbreaking by any means so it's more for the collectors or if you're wanting great quality basics to start off your collection. I'm hoping Victoria Beckham will release more collab polish collections that are just as amazing!

Details: The Victoria, Victoria Beckham x Nails Inc. collection is available exclusively from Sephora Australia - the duo set retails for $60 or individually for $35. For international ladies the collection is available from nailsinc.com for £25 each or £45 for the duo and $25US each from Sephora.com

A macaron manicure for Zumbaron Day 2012

On Saturday morning Anita, her fiance S and I headed to The Star for Zumbaron Day. It was the first Zumbaron Day for both of us so we were both very very excited of course haha. Zumbaron Day (previously Macaron Day) is held once a year to celebrate Adriano Zumbo's birthday and when 60 something unique and wonderful macaron flavours are available. S very kindly drove us which meant we got there at about 7:30am and thankfully we were one of the first there yay! We were expecting a crazy line but even by the time they opened the doors after 8am the line still wasn't too crazy . Adriano Zumbo tweeted a pic of the line at The Star - can you spot Anita and I in the pic??!! (hint we're on our phones LOL)

For my international ladies, Adriano Zumbo is a patisser extraordinaire and comes up with some AH-MAZING creations with macarons being one of his most famous. His cakes and macarons are definitely out there with macaron flavours that have included pigs blood, beetroot and raspberry and mango and sweet corn. All his creations are like works of art! You can peep a post I did a few years back here.

Before I show you my macaron haul I thought I'd show you the mani I've had on over the weekend. Of course I had to do a mani for Zumbaron day so I went with a macaron accent!

What I used:

Pinky: I used 2 coats of Hello Darling Hopelessly Devoted* and used Kiss nail art paint striper in white to draw vertical lines.

Ring finger: MACARONS!!! I used 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow as my base and freehanded the macarons using a small nail art brush. For the chocolate macaron I used Canmake Colorful Nails 54 (Chocolate Syrup) for the cookies and Ulta 3 chocolate cake for the filling; raspberry macaron I used BYS Pink with a Punch for the cookies and Hello Darling Hopelessly Devoted* for the filling; pistachio macaron I used Hello Darling Mint Slice* for the cookies and Essence Lime Up! for the filling and blueberry macaron I used Hello Darling The First Corsage* for the cookies and China Glaze Grape Pop for the filling. PHEW!

Middle finger: I used 3 coats of Nails Inc. Sweets Way.

Index finger: I used 2 coats of Face of Australia Once in a Blue Moon*.

Thumb: I used 2 coats of Hello Darling Hopelessly Devoted* and stamped full polka dot image from Konad plate m79 using Konad Special polish in white.

Onto Zumbaron Day! Below is the order form with the list of flavours available this year. 62 awesome flavours!! It was so hard to choose which ones to get because obviously I would have loved to try them all but I had to limit myself.

My haul!! Obviously it wasn't all for me though lol. I got 24 macarons in total which included 4 of the made to order Zumbarons only available at the Star and also a slice of the infamous V8 cake. Cola is my favourite flavour of all time and I enjoyed the fried donut, fried chicken, redskin and palm sugar & coconut ones the most. Kimchi was sooooo weird and vegemite tasted a bit odd too!

The made to order ones I hauled (clockwise from top left): custard fritter, pork belly, fried donut and fried chicken. These were amazing! They were double the price of the other macarons though which they didn't advertise but considering how cool they were it was all good haha.

I'll leave you with some macaron porn from the day xp

All in all it was fantastic morning and I am all macaron-ed out now haha. It certainly won't be my last Zumbaron Day!! I hope you all had a great weekend! Are you a fan of macarons too?

Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo 2012 haul

Hi ladies! About a fortnight ago I attended the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo with 2 of my awesome friends Anita and Angela. I'd heard such fantastic things about the expo but being a trade only event I didn't think I'd get the chance to ever go but I was very fortunate and received a media pass to attend! *happy dance* I was good and only hauled a few things ;)

The expo was held at the Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour and it was massive - 3 huge halls filled with beauty goodness! It was so awesome discovering lots of new brands.

What I got!

nails inc. Sprinkles!!! I've been wanting these for sooooooo long and I succumbed. The deal was just too good to pass up! I got sweets way, topping lane and pudding lane.

I can never go past glitter so I had to pick up Nicole by OPI Let's Get Star-ted! and Honey-Dew You Love Me?.

Some nail art supplies! A 3D acrylic mold, dappen dish, dropper, tweezers and different shaped dazzlings.

I've wanted a nail polish display for ages and I finally got one! I'm using it to display polishes I need to swatch and it looks great on my desk ;) This one is supposed to hold 24 bottles but because some of the bottles are smaller it holds more.

I was hoping Dermalogica would be selling more stuff but alas they only sold a few items. I still managed to pick up one of my HG products the Daily Microfoliant. I love the stuff! It makes my skin as smooth as a baby's bottom LOL.

I'm nearing 30 (OMG!) so I'm getting into anti-ageing products. I came across these Cupron wrinkle reducing products and thought I'd give it a try. I picked up the Clinical Value pack which contains the Clinical Cosmetic Pillow Case, Eye Shades and Gloves.

I hope you've all been well! Posting will continue to be a bit sporadic unfortunately. Thanks for looking as always!

I attended the expo as a guest of the PR company.

Snakeskin manicure

I am absolutely terrified of snakes but I've been meaning to try a snakeskin mani for ages now. I finally did one this weekend and I love the look of it! It's about as much snake as I can handle haha. My pictures aren't the best unfortunately as I didn't realise there was so much glare until after I'd removed my mani so I didn't get a chance to redo my photos =(

I used 2 coats of lovely creamy beige nails inc. Porchester Square* and stamped the full snakeskin image from Bundle Monster plate BM-215 using China Glaze Harmony.

What do you think? I still don't have much time these days to do fancy nail art so I'm really getting back into stamping! I missed it x) Thanks for looking as always!

nails inc. Magnetic Polish in Houses of Parliament

Magnetic polish has been one of the huge things for the polish world lately and lots of brands are now releasing collections. Lovely Christina sent me over one of the nails inc. Magnetic Polishes recently and I couldn't wait to try it out! I've wanted to try out nails inc. forever as it isn't available here in Aus (yet!!) and the colours are fabulous. Today I have swatches of House of Parliament for you.

Houses of Parliament is a dusty metallic purple and is just gorgeous! I applied 1 thin coat to all my nails followed by a thicker second coat and held the magnet to each nail for about 5-10 seconds before moving onto the next nail. The formula is excellent and very opaque and really easy to apply. Dry time was excellent and the brush was easy to use. I applied topcoat to my swatches which unfortunately dragged the polish a bit.

Close up:

The bottle has a removable outer cap which contains the magnet. The cap has a curved plastic edge to rest on your cuticle to keep the magnet from touching your wet polish when you hold it above your nail. It's sooooo easy to accidentally knock the magnet into the polish! I had to redo two nails because I dented them.

The magnet is on top of the cap and is really strong! It doesn't take long for the magnet to do its thing and you're left with a cool design on your nail. My nails are large and quite curved so I found for some of my nails the effect didn't cover my whole nail. However I love the curved pattern the magnet makes and it just looks amazing in person!

Have you tried magnetic polish? Thanks for looking as always!
