Taylor Swift "Red" inspired FOTD and a giveaway!

This post is sponsored by Nuffnang.

When I was in Hong Kong recently, there were promo posters everywhere for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Red album. I’ve always been a fan of her makeup looks – her skin is always glowing and she looks so polished and fresh faced. In this particular pic she’s rocking a cherry red lip, winged liner and paired it with a cute black and white retro top and I loved the look so much I had to recreate it as soon as I got home! She’s been sporting a similar look while out and about on her promo tour for the new album this month and I love seeing the pics as it gives me great beauty inspiration. Her flawless skin and red pout look fantastic and is a look that would suit everyone.

You too can get flawless red carpet ready skin at home with the Clearasil PerfectaWash which I’ve introduced to you previously. Celebrities may have their makeup artists to help them look picture perfect but makeup can only hide so much. It’s important to start off with good basics like cleansing and moisturising twice daily and making sure to remove all traces of makeup at the end of the night to help achieve a healthy and glowing complexion.

While trialling the Clearasil PerfectaWash I must say my skin has been behaving itself and I haven’t experienced as many breakouts as usual. I’ve been rocking the natural look as much as I can so I started off with a sheer base by using Make Up For Ever Face and Body foundation in 20. I skipped powder and just used MAC Select Moisture Cover concealer in NW20 to conceal my dark circles (lack of sleep!). Taylor only has a hint of colour on her cheeks as the lip colour is so strong so I contoured my cheeks using Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess and skipped the blush.

I applied a wash of Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow and winged out my Face of Australia liquid liner for a small cat eye. On the lower lash line I smudged Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes liner in black on the outer third of my eye and I finished with Dolly Wink Long mascara.

For my bright red lips I lined my lips using Shisheido The Makeup Lip Liner & Pencil in Red Rouge and applied Tom Ford Lip Color in Cherry Lush!

Snow White and the Huntsman manicure

Happy Monday ladies! I hope you've all had a good start to the week =) Yesterday I watched Snow White and the Huntsman with 2 of my lovely girlfriends so I thought I would do a Snow White inspired mani. But it was a massive fail because I didn't know what I wanted to do for each nail and I don't think it gelled properly! ARGH. I hate when that happens. My photos suck as well because my heart wasn't into this mani doh.

What I used:

Pinky: I used 2 coats of BYS Astro Gold and 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Only Gold for Me top coat.

Ring finger: I used 2 coats of OPI Alpine Snow and used a small brush to freehand the bitten apple using China Glaze Phat Santa, Ulta 3 chocolate cake for the leaf and a green rhinestone for the apple.

Middle finger: I took inspiration from this movie poster and created a gradient nail using BYS Astro Gold, Tom Ford Silver Smoke and China Glaze Jolly Holly.

Index finger: I used 1 coat of Rescue Beauty Lounge Concrete Jungle and stamped the gold crown image from Bundle Monster plate BM08 using China Glaze Passion.

Thumb: I used 2 coats of Glitter Gal Serpent Black* as a black base. For the axe I used a small brush to freehand using China Glaze Devotion for the blade and Essie Brooch the Subject* for the handle with Essie Hot Coco* for the darker wood accents.

I instagrammed this pic on Saturday night halfway through my mani and I thought I'd post it here too xp I like to have everything in reach when I'm doing my mani so my supplies take up about 1/3 of my desk. My routine is to turn on a good DVD and relax while doing my mani!

Have you seen Snow White and the Huntsman? I really enjoyed it and Kirsten Stewart didn't annoy me as much as I thought she would lol. Lots of decent action scenes and a bit of eye candy too!

Thanks for looking as always =)

Tom Ford Spring 2012 nail lacquer in Silver Smoke swatches and review

Tom Ford Beauty recently released their Spring 2012 collection containing smouldering molten-toned hues inspired by the beauty of a natural glowing and radiant bronzed face. The collection introduces the Tom Ford Cream Color For Eyes (I have one to show you later!); a new shade of Ultra Shine Lip Gloss and my favourite - four new additions to the Nail Lacquer range. Today I have my swatches and review of Silver Smoke for you.

What they say:

"Four new shades of Tom Ford Nail Lacquer complete the look. Silver Smoke, Gold Haze, Burnished Rouge and Burnt Topaz are extra-amplified colors formulated with unique mirror pearls to maximize their metal effect and create a molten mirror look. The groundbreaking, high-performance formula with bendable coating delivers high coverage and shine while staying colour true throughout wear."

Silver Smoke is a cool gold metallic with bronze and silver microshimmer through it. Unfortunately the shimmer doesn't translate too well on the nail so it's very subtle but it's just beautiful! 3 coats is pictured.

Close up:

Overall: Silver Smoke is a gorgeous and elegant metallic polish that makes a great addition to the Tom Ford Nail Lacquer range. The formula was slightly sheer but excellent - it applied SUPER smoothly. Dry time was excellent and the brush was great to use. The cap of Tom Ford polishes comes off to reveal a smaller cap which makes it slightly easier to use as the cap is quite large. I love the square shape of these bottles as they line up so well in my helmer!

Being Tom Ford Beauty, the price of these lacquers is at the VERY high end of the scale. But, you pay for quality and you can see that clearly in this beautiful lacquer - from the elegant packaging to the fantastic formula. If you can afford Tom Ford Beauty definitely get yourself the lacquers!!! Silver Smoke isn't an exceptional shade colour wise but in my opinion every collection needs at least one metallic polish.

Details: The Tom Ford Beauty Spring 2012 nail lacquers are available now exclusively for a limited time at David Jones Elizabeth St, Sydney and Bourke St, Melbourne stores for $45.

They are available in the US from Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus for $30US.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color: Vanilla Suede swatches and review

Before I started blogging I didn't own many lipsticks and mainly stuck to lipglosses. Now my lipstick collection has grown significantly and I am of the belief that every girl needs at least one luxurious lipstick in her collection. The Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Colors are just the thing!

Photobucket

What they say:

Tom Ford Private Blend presents twelve essential shades to influence a mood and transform an entire look. The first chapter in Tom Ford’s evolution into makeup, this collection is a luxurious expression of colors for the beauty connoisseur.

“There is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip,” Ford says. “It is the focus of the face and it has the power to define a woman’s whole look.”

The new Private Blend Lip Color Collection presents Tom Ford’s personal color palette of twelve classic lip colors. From bare nude to fire red to deep brown, each Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color is Ford’s modern ideal of an essential makeup shade.

Have you ever seen lipstick packaging as divine as this?? Private Blend lip colors are packaged in gold accented ivory cases and are so unbelievably luxurious and beautiful. Simply stunning!! They are also very weighty and sturdy which I love and the TF embossing on the lipstick is a wonderful touch too.

Vanilla Suede is a gorgeous nude with subtle shimmer. The lipsticks are made with ingredients such as Soja Seed Extract, Brazilian Murumuru Butter and Chamomilla Flower Oil for a super creamy and moisturising formula that applies very smoothly. Actually a little too creamy as it just slid off my lips which made applying it difficult initially! It was suggested I use a lip brush which made it a lot easier to apply.

I'm starting to love nude shades and Vanilla Suede is fantastic. It won't suit everyone however as it may look very pale on some!! On me it was somewhat light but not ghost like so I'd pair it with a dramatic smokey eye. It wore for a few hours before needed a touch-up.

Photobucket

Overall: An amazing lipstick which has officially become the crown jewel of my lip collection! From the formula to the beautiful packaging, I say every girl should own at least one Private Blend Lip Color in their lifetime. However I am loving the other colours too so I would love to add more to my collection x) There are 12 gorgeous shades in the collection so there will be a colour to suit everyone if Vanilla Suede isn't the one for you.

The Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color collection is available exclusively at David Jones City stores at Elizabeth St, Sydney; Oxford St, Bondi Junction; Bourke St, Melbourne; Rundle Mall, Adelaide; Queen St, Brisbane and Hay St, Perth and retail for $65.
