Super Mario 25th Anniversary mushroom manicure
Hi ladies! This post is a little late but earlier this week was the 25th anniversary of the release of Super Mario Bros in Japan. I would have done these nails sooner but I didn't get time unfortunately. The boy absolutely looooooves Super Mario Bros and he converted me when we first started dating many moons ago! I love the characters in Mario Bros but I especially love the mushrooms. I have 3 mushroom plushies and these were the inspiration for todays manicure to celebrate.

I used the tutorials by the talented CutePolish and Nikki from Askmewhats version as a guide. They looked simple enough but my lack of polishing lately has seen my skills slip!

I used Orly French Tip to freehand white tips. I then used the striping brush from Nail Star Two way nail art pen & brush in red to draw a thin line just below the white tip, then I topped the red line with CM Nail Art striping polish in red glitter on all fingers except for accent finger and thumb. On my thumbs and accent finger I used the pen from Nail Star Two way nail art pen & brush in red to draw a half oval shape and drew 5 dots using Nail Star Two way nail art pen & brush in white. I then used Kiss Nail Artist Paint & Stencil Kit in black to draw eyes and topped it all off with a coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong topcoat for a glossy finish!

Hope you like it! I'll leave you with a piccie of my family of Mario mushroom plushies =)

H & M Liberty Girl fimo NOTD
Why oh why are purple polishes so darn hard to photograph??? I had SUCH a hard time capturing the true colour of this gorgeous polish sent to me by Anita from KONADOmania in our swap. Please excuse the quality of the pics in this post as I had to play around with my camera settings. It kept capturing the colour as blue and not purple which really frustrated me! I must have taken at lease 2 dozen shots and the ones below are the ones closest to the colour in real life.
H & M Liberty Girl is a gorgeous pastel purple creme. I love purple polishes and this is no exception! Unfortunately the formula is quite thick which made application for me really tricky. I must add some thinner to this for next time and hopefully application will be easier! The 1st coat is quite streaky but a 2nd coat evens things out however I still had some bald spots. Below is 2 coats without top coat and it dries to a nice glossy finish.

I then used CM Nail Art striping polish in Pearl to draw 2 lines across the tips of each nail. In real life CM Nail Art striping polish in Pearl looks exactly like the name - it's a pearl polish off-white in colour with a pearl finish. However on top of Liberty Girl here, it appears silver which was unexpected and surprisingly I'm really liking it! I then placed some flowery fimo on a couple of fingers and topped it off with a coat of Nailene Acrylic Strong Topcoat.

Hope you like it!

Assignment & exams = stress = impulse buying
Hi ladies! The last 2 weeks have been so intense as its end of semester which means assessment time. It’s been SO crazy! Unfortunately I haven’t had a real chance to blog or do manicures but I’ll get back into it very soon. Since I’ve been really stressed out I’ve been buying a few things here and there lately which is really bad I know, but considering I’ve been working my butt off at both work and uni I thought BUGGER IT I’ll get what I want! =p
YSL Rouge Volupte in no. 1. I have been lemming this absolutely gorgeous shade for the longest time and Myer Sydney finally got it back in stock a while ago! It goes on like a dream and the colour is just beautiful.

A few items from Essie which I’ve been lemming for quite a while – The Spring collection, Sweet time of the year and Wicked and Matte about you duo. I’ve been after a matte topcoat for soooo long!

My 1st Nubar polish:

My 1st Zoya polish:

Some things that the boy very sweetly purchased for me – 3 more polishes from the OPI HK collection; some China Glaze goodies and Bundle Monster plates!! YAY.

A few Sinful Colors - you gotta love cheap and cheerful.

Nailene Acrylic Strong topcoat. The lovely Asami did a review of it here and I’ve been looking for it everywhere since her really positive review in March. I could only ever find the old packaging though but after stalking Kmart, Target, Priceline etc. for what seems like forever I finally found it at Kmart for $13! I’ve seen it elsewhere too now but it’s cheapest at Kmart for any Aussie ladies who might be interested.

Sadly I don't have time to use anything yet so it's all just sitting in my room at the moment, pleading with me to finish my assessments already so I can try them all out. Off to finish my paper now!
Thanks for looking!!
