Kit nail tools that won't break the bank!

I'm embarrassed to say that some of the nail tools I use are quite old and in desperate need of an overhaul. The buffer and emery boards I use are more than 3 years old and my toe separators I purchased during uni so they're more than 5 years old! Don't worry I clean them after each use, they're just very worn out ;) So I was very excited to find a selection of cute nail tools from the recently launched Kit Tool Kit waiting on my doorstep a few weeks back for me to try out. The tools are high quality and best of all they don't break the bank!

What they say:

"Kit Cosmetics launches a new and exciting TOOL KIT range, filling the gap in the Australian market for high-performance yet super-cool beauty accessories.

TOOL KIT is a fun range of everything you ever needed for your bathroom cabinet or makeup bag. However it is not just about style and functionality, the Kit team has added Kit Tips to help you with your beauty regime. Add a quality finish with a touch of cool to your beauty routine.. it covers all bases of beauty with 22 super-cool accessories."

There are five nail tools in the range that will have your nail care needs sorted!

Kit nail clippers ($9.95) and Toe nail clippers ($14.95) are made from high quality stainless steel to give a clean and precise cut. This is a massive bad habit I'm about to reveal but when I'm lazy I succumb and use clippers to trim down my nails before filing. o_O Terrible I know but hey I'm lazy! These are one of the best I've used and definitely give a very clean cut.

Nail file duo ($4.95) has two handy nail files in pink and aqua and the nail care cube ($6.95) is great to pop into your handbag for on the go nail emergencies.

Toe separators ($5.95) are ergonomically designed and aren't like your normal foam separators - these are made from this really squishy material and are really comfy to use. You don't get those weird indents between your toes! However because they're made from a different material they don't separate the toes as well.

Overall: These are great nail care tools that work very well and are super affordable and stylish too. They are excellent basics for any beauty kit and I think they would make great stocking stuffers come Christmas time! There's a huge range to choose from that includes hair, makeup, brush and pampering tools too - you'll have a hard time choosing what to get!

Details: Kit Tool Kits available now exclusively at Kit Cosmetics and Mecca Maxima stores nationally.

What are your nail tool essentials? Thanks for looking as always!

My cuticle and hand care routine

How I care for my cuticles is one of the most frequently asked questions I receive so here is my post for you finally. Being predominantly a nail blogger, I try to keep my cuticles and also my hands in presentable condition but alas I am waaaaay too lazy so I don't actually do much besides apply cuticle cream/oils! Below are the products I use and I thought I'd also show you what products I use for hand care as well as they go together ;) Please note - the products below work for me however they may not be suitable for you. It's a lot of trial and error and wasted $$ to find what works for you!

Now I use four different hand and cuticle products for different situations. For on the go I need something that is in a packaged in travel size and absorbs very quickly and isn't greasy; for work I like a product that's fast absorbing but also provides a barrier: at home I like products that smell nice and absorb quickly and overnight products that are VERY moisturising. This may seem a bit over the top but they all serve different purposes!

On the go - Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream*:

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream* is ideal for on the go because it absorbs very quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue. I hate greasy products when I'm out and about! I don't find it all that moisturising but it does stop my cuticles from drying out and it smells lovely and lemony. The texture is very waxy so it can be a bit hard to get out of the tin. It can be purchased from David Jones, Harrisons Pharmacies, Kleins Perfumery, Terry White Chemists and selected retail outlets for $14.95.

I actually prefer Beautysnapz Cuticle Conditioners* but I haven't pictured them here because I ran out and haven't restocked! =( I've reviewed them before though so check out my review here.

At work - Nfu Oh Cuticle Flower Oil (orange scented):

This beauty was gifted to me by my lovely friend Christina! Now some people are very against cuticle oils but my cuticles can get so dry and disgusting that they need the moisture burst that oils can give. Nfu Oh Cuticle Flower Oils smell divine and provide an instant moisture boost to my cuticles. Plus the bottle is just so damn sexy that it's worth using just for the bottle!! It sits pride of place at my desk x) I apply it when I've got a quiet moment; let it soak for a few minutes and then massage it in.
