Ozotic Pro 908 swatches and review

I have another awesome new Ozotic Pro polish for you today! 908 is from their new Beam collection. I love that Ozotic Pro are bringing out these new finishes!

Photobucket

908 is "nspired by 'reflecting luminous light beams' hence the moonlight colours with sparks!". In the bottle it's pretty unassuming but OMG on the nail it absolutely comes to life! Especially when layered over a dark base it just looks amazing. It contains gorgeous white, pink, purple and green glass flecks - here I've layered a VERY thin coat over a black base.

I find applying a thin coat works best for the Beam and Sugar polishes so that the it contrasts against the dark base and so you don't get any patchiness. 2 coats makes it too opaque and I like seeing the dark base through it! I haven't tried it over a light base just yet.

Ozotic Pro 904 swatches and review

Today I have some quick swatches for you of Ozotic Pro 904 - one of the brand new polishes from their new Sugar collection. The Sugar polishes are inspired by "'adding a tiny drop of food colouring to icing sugar' hence the sugary sweet looking colours". Let me warn you it is pretty amazing!

Photobucket

904 is a bright yellow polish containing colour changing crystal flecks that aren't really apparent in the bottle. When layered over black it really comes to life! The crystal flecks shift from green to blue to a teeny bit of yellow depending on your lighting. I layered 1 thin coat over 2 coats of Glitter Gal Serpent Black.

The polish dried quite quickly and the brush was great to use. I recommend working quickly and applying thin coats as you can get patchiness. I had to redo my swatches as I worked too slowly and had to add more coats of 904 to even things out which didn't look too good especially when on macro!

Overall I think it's a really unique polish! I love that it transforms a boring black polish into something really unusual. I got lots of lovely compliments when I wore it so definitely one worth trying out for yourself! The new Ozotic Pro Sugar & Beam collection is available in 8 shades and can be purchased from Picture Polish for $12.

What do you think of these new Sugar polishes? Thanks for looking as always!

Ozotic Pro 606 NOTD

Today's NOTD is from a few days ago when I wanted something quick and easy to apply but still awesome looking. So of course I went for a holo! I decided to go with another pretty Ozotic Pro from my collection.

Ozotic Pro 606

The Ozotic Pro holos have a scattered effect and I really really love the look of them. They are somewhat glittery and take a few coats to build up intensity and cover VNL but they dry so quickly it's no big deal! Ozotic Pro 606 is a pale lilac scattered holo that looks awesome when it catches the light but is also subtle. All pics are 3 coats without base or top coat. It's so darn pretty in real life that I couldn't stop looking at my nails all day! A man on the bus saw me admiring my nails and gave me a funny look haha.

Blurred to show the holo effect! I wish I could have taken some pics during the day but there wasn't much sunlight when I wore it.

Posting will be less frequent as I'd like for the time being but don't worry I'll still be here! I've got loads of new polishes to play with as well as lots of products to review so stay tuned!

I also want to wish my beloved friend Christina a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY today!!! I hope all your birthday wishes come true my dear =D Have a FABULOUS day!

Nail Up! inspired Minx manicure

I have for you today a manicure inspired by a design I saw in Nail Up's 2011 book which I picked up in HK last year and just had to try for myself. I am seriously addicted to these magazines and their wonderful designs!! I always have trouble naming these manicures but this design had "Minx" at the bottom of it so let's just go with that!

I wore this yesterday when I went to a fabulous blogger meetup organised by lovely Tara from Keeping Up With Me. It was awesome to finally meet the lovely Sydney blogger ladies Jenny from My Funny Valentine, Anita from Love Vulcanella and Kimmi from The Plastic Diaries in the flesh after reading their wonderful blogs and talking to them on Twitter!! The day went by FAR too quickly and I'm so excited for the next meetup which will hopefully be very soon! Jenny wrote a great post with some gorgeous pics of what we got up to here.

Photobucket

The inspiration below for my mani. I didn't have all the elements that they used in the design unfortunately so as usual I did it with my own twist!

Photobucket

What I used:

Photobucket

Pinkies: I used 3 coats of China Glaze Lemon Fizz and applied a black star, silver and pink rhinestones.

Ring fingers: I used 2 coats of Ozotic Pro 604 (a gold scattered holo!!) and a few coats of Milani Jewel FX in gold.

Middle fingers: I used 2 coats of BYS Black Satin as a base. I then konaded full nail dots image from Konad plate m79 with white polish but it wasn't as opaque as I liked so I used a dotting tool and went over the dots with Nfu Oh acrylic paint in white.

Index fingers: I used 2 coats of China Glaze Something Sweet and then applied a black star and silver rhinestones and half pearls to the bottom of my nail.

Thumbs: Same design as middle fingers.

Photobucket

It didn't take me very long to do at all actually and I loved the result! The black and white polka dot would have to be my favourite and reminds me of a Minx design. Would you be interested in seeing me do some more inspired Japanese nail magazine manicures in the future? Many designs use acrylics which I can't do but the other designs are surprisingly doable! Let me know in the comments below what you think!

Hi ladies! Tomorrow (February 3) is Chinese New Year and I wanted to share with you my Chinese New Year Manicure I've been rocking to celebrate. Yes please count me in! Sydney CNY celebrations just do not compare at all unfortunately but I will still eat plenty of food hehe. Ozotic Snowman manicure

Hi ladies! How are you all doing? All ready for Christmas on Saturday? Yesterday was so cold in Sydney that it felt more like Winter than Summer! I had to run back inside the house to get a jacket and I nearly got blown away by the wind walking to the bus stop! I thought this would be a perfect time to try a snowman manicure which I saw here on YouTube. It was also an excuse to finally try out my newly acquired Ozotic Pro polishes!

Photobucket

Ozotic Pro polishes are much raved about in the nail community but even us Aussies have trouble getting our hands on them! Such is life I guess. I finally managed to get my hands on some and I was most excited to try the holo polishes after seeing wonderful swatches on blogs. For this mani, I used a base colour of Ozotic Pro 617 which is a stunning holographic blue polish from the High impact holographic series.

Ozotic Pro 617

Man oh man it is a beautiful scattered blue holo! It's an in your face holo polish - just the type I love as you all know =) Above is 2 coats without topcoat. It has a very pronounced holo effect even indoors and just dazzles in the sunlight. As I polish my nails at night I couldn't get a pic of just the polish in the sun unfortunately.

Close up:

Photobucket

I'm still getting used to my new camera and it decided to do something weird in the pic above haha. In a way it was good so you can see the holo goodness blurred compared to the actual polish! Excuse the ragged cuticles - the sudden cold yesterday and my laziness to apply cuticle cream lately has caught up with me. Anyway, the application was a little disappointing for 617. The 1st coat dragged so I had to work quickly or it created bald spots but this isn't unusual for holo polishes. I did use a base coat so next time I'll try it without to see if it makes any difference. A thick 2nd coat solved the problem though and drying time was excellent. I didn't use topcoat to maintain the holo-ness.

Bottle pic:

Photobucket

As you can tell I need some practise with freehand nail art! When photographed it looks better than it does in real life =p I used Nfu Oh Nail Creation specialized artistic paint in white (which I hauled in HK) for the snow and the body and applied it using a dotting tool. I then used a dotting tool to apply Nfu Oh Nail Creation specialized artistic paint in black for the buttons. For the nose I used Color Club Wham Pow! and for the arms Color Club Charity Ball.

Photobucket

Here's a bonus pic for you! I managed to snap a pic in sunlight after work today as I left work 5 mins early and managed to catch the early bus. HOLO!!!

Photobucket

I so wish I had hunted down Ozotic Pro earlier! I purchased a few more too so you'll be seeing more soon hopefully. I have soooooo many untrieds >.< Do you have any Ozotic Pro polishes? What holiday manicures will you be rocking this season?

Thanks for looking!
