Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, London
Happy Thursday guys! I hope you've all had a good week so far. It's been a busy week but on Monday I got the jaw dropping news that I had won a very coveted reservation at The Fat Duck Melbourne for next year. And a CHEFS TABLE to top it off OMG!!!!! I'm literally beside myself with excitement even though there's still 6 months to go. So I thought it was about time I caught up with posts and shared some pics from lunch at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London from earlier this year. The husband and I treated ourselves to a splurge meal in each country we went to on our honeymoon and being the huge Heston Blumenthal fan I am Dinner was a must do! I would have loved to go to The Fat Duck but sadly we didn't have enough time to venture to Berkshire but luckily it's coming to us now woohoo!

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal is located at the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park and is a 2 Michelin Star restaurant. We would have loved to stay at the Mandarin Oriental but sadly our budget didn't stretch that far haha. It's such a beautiful hotel and in such a great location too with Harvey Nichols and Harrods only a stones throw away.

Sepia Restaurant, Sydney
Hi ladies! A quick foodie post for you today! About a fornight ago the hubby and I took my sis to Sepia Restaurant to celebrate her birthday. We were a bit undecided where to go and we ended up deciding on Sepia as they do Saturday degustation. There's nothing like a loooooooong lunch! Sepia is a three hatted contemporary Japanese influenced restaurant (recently named restaurant of the year!!) which is a collaboration between seafood supplier George Costi and previous head chef at Tetsuya's Martin Benn.

Inside the restaurant! The interior and decor is rather dark for my liking but nice all the same.

Pambula Bay oysters with vinaigrette to start off with:

I didn't feel like a cocktail and they didn't have any mocktails unfortunately so I went with teas for my degustation. How cool is this teapot!

Amuse bouche of water chestnut, smoked salmon roe and crรจme fraiche:

Sashimi of Big Eye tuna, steamed Japanese omelette, white soy jelly, dashi onion cream, puffed buckwheat, green apple and wasabi:

Sashimi of bonito, flavours of roasted chicken, umeboshi, upland cress, green tea and nori:

Yabby, seaweed purรฉe, ginger, shellfish and blood orange emulsion and sorrel:

Scampi, sudachi, parsley root, white miso, nori fried potato and white Linaria flowers:

Bread and butter ball:

Charcoal grilled wagyu rump, sea urchin and wasabi butter, garlic chive, sea vegetables and mustard:

Seared Mandagery Creek venison, boudin noir, chocolate crumb, macadamia nut yoghurt, blackcurrant and shichimi pepper:

Optional course of Aged Garrotxa goat chesse, sake and goat milk dumplings, celeriac cream, nashi pear and celery:

Palette cleanser of Meyer lemon and lime butter, sancho and ginger bread crumb, sheep yoghurt sorbet, fennel and olive:

Soft poached meringue, truffle ice cream, truffle and rosemary honey, hazelnut praline and malt:

"Winter Chocolate Forest" - soft chocolate, hazelnut and almond, orange and thyme cream, sour cherry sorbet, cocoa brandy jellies, green tea, licorice and chocolate twigs:

They were lovely and personalised my sister's dessert with a candle and message!

Petit fours:

All in all a lovely lunch! Service was impeccable and I'd definitely recommend celebrating a special occasion there =) Thanks for looking as always!

OPI Langham Pink swatches and degustation at Galileo Restaurant, The Langham Sydney
A few months back I went for a fab dinner with Jade and A at Galileo Restaurant at The Langham. After dinner we checked out the gift shop and lo and behold came across an OPI nail polish created especially for Langham Hotels! I didn't even know it existed! Being a sucker lover for limited edition products and pink polishes of course I had to pick up a bottle of Langham Pink. We each bought a bottle bottle actually!

Langham Pink was created in 2011 to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Langham Groups signature pink which is used throughout their hotels worldwide. It's a gorgeous cherry blossom pink creme and just the sort of shade I love! Application wasn't pretty good and it was opaque in 3 coats which is pictured.

Close up:

Details: OPI Langham Pink is available exclusively at Langham Hotels for $16.95Aus.
The restaurant! Galileo Restaurant is located in the Langham Hotel (formerly the Observatory Hotel) in the city and the decor is just gorgeous.

We had the degustation with all the trimmings (yes we got the cheese platter and also tea and petit fours!!) for a fantastic price because A got us a great deal!

The food was excellent and service was fantastic too. We literally had to roll ourselves out of there afterwards lol. I'd definitely recommend going there!

I love discovering new polishes when I least expect too!! Hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for looking as always =)

Guillaume at Bennelong, Sydney
Some food porn for you all today! In September my foodie friends Anita, Jade and I headed to Guillaume at Bennelong for dinner. It had been months of planning and after a few reschedules we FINALLY made it there! We decided to go with the degustation but in particular we were after their famous Paris mash and let me tell you - it was freaking AMAZING and the meal did not disappoint. As usual, I'm not responsible for any drooling caused by my pics!

Quay, Sydney
Hi ladies! A little bit of food porn for you today =) One of my foodie friends and I went to Quay last weekend for a long awaited dinner! I have wanted to try it out for SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO long and finally made it there! You may know Quay because of the famous "snow egg" created by executive chef Peter Gilmore which was featured on Masterchef Australia season 2. We went for the 4 course dinner menu ($165) and oh it was just fabulous. My pictures are instagram pics so they aren't the best but you get the gist I'm sure ;)
Gorgeous view!

Est. Sydney
I haven't done a food post in a while so I thought I would share with you all a fabulous meal I had recently! At the end of last month, I had dinner with 2 awesome friends (hi Jade and Anita!) at Est.. For those not playing in Sydney, Est. is an award winning contemporary Australian restaurant. Boy was it a lot of fun! It was so great to unwind with some girlie talk over cocktails and fine food =) We ended up going with the chefs tasting menu (4 courses for $150) as it had more choice compared to the tasting menu (6 courses for $175). Unfortunately my camera pics didn't turn out so Instagram pics will have to suffice.

We started off with a round of cocktails. I don't drink much at all but I do love a good cocktail! Vodka is my drink of choice so I went with a Moscow Mule. It was delicious x)

For the first course, we all chose the salad of spanner crab with heart of palm, avocado, pink grapefruit, mint and lemon. I could eat this salad everyday! The crab and pink grapefruit went so well together.

For my second course, I chose the grilled white scallops with heirloom carrots, goats curd, roast garlic and black truffle chicken jus. The scallops were beautiful but I think I should have gone with the quail.. there just weren't enough scallops in the dish! LOL.

The highlight of the night - our "off the menu" Pรฉrigord truffle mash! We were only expecting truffle through the mash but instead we get thin slices of French truffle atop the most smooth and creamy mash imaginable. We literally could have licked the bowl!! Except of course we were all too ladylike to lol.

For my fourth course I chose the saddle of venison with pickled sour cherries, blackberries, baby turnip, game chips and salad of cresses. Venison is served on the rare side and I don't usually like my red meat too rare but this was just melt in your mouth.

For dessert I chose the mascarpone citrus cannoli with macerated summer berries and pink grapefruit sorbet. Oh my goodness it was so heavenly! It was summer on a plate. I could have eaten a whole tub of the pink grapefruit sorbet mmmmm.

We were even given an extra dessert to share! Caramelised blood plum, brown sugar cake, labne and spiced plum caramel. The flavours in this were so interesting but worked really well together!

Yummy petit fours!

Overall it was a fabulous dinner and night out! The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was great - and of course the food was divine! I'll definitely be going back in the future. Est. is located at Level 1, Establishment 252 George Street Sydney 2000.
Thanks for looking as always =) Don't forget to enter my 2nd birthday giveaway here!

Momofuku Seiลbo 2011
Before I show you the culinary delights from Momofuku Seiลbo, I want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to you all for all the wonderful, sweet and heartwarming congratulatory messages on our happy news!! We are so so touched ♥ I'm sending you all virtual hugs right now!
Momofuku Seiลbo is David Chang's first Momofuku restaurant outside of New York. It's a 15 course tasting menu ($175 currently, $95 extra with beverage tasting) that is inspired by Australian ingredients. It's located at the newly renovated The Star and with it's discrete entrance marked by the lucky peach is actually a little hard to find and we needed to ask directions! We were so lucky to get a reservation for our anniversary night as the online reservation system is a pain to use. D was all prepared when reservations opened online for that day with four windows open and could only get the 8pm sitting after only a minute. Crazy!

Tables of two get to sit at the counter/bar which for me was the highlight of the night (food wise anyway! Getting engaged was the highlight obviously haha). I absolutely LOVED watching the chefs prep and plate the food in the open kitchen and then have them serve it to you. It was simply fascinating to watch them.

Onto the food!!

Tetsuya's Sydney (VERY PIC HEAVY)
Yesterday was my beloved boyfriends 30th birthday and we celebrated it in style by enjoying lunch at top Sydney restaurant Tetsuya's. The poor timing of our lunch did not escape me at all – while his family and I were sitting down to a wonderful Japanese meal, Japan is reeling from the devastation caused by the worst earthquake and tsunami in their history. Tens of thousands of people are missing, families and homes torn apart and the looming possibility of a nuclear accident. All my petty life issues pale in comparison to the scale of this disaster. It really makes you re-evaluate what is important in life and to value your family, friends and your health as you never know what mother nature will throw at you. Still, a celebration was in order as my boyfriend only turns 30 once =) This is going to be one heck of a post so read if you dare!!
Tetsuya's is the world renowned restaurant of chef Tetsuya Wakuda and is famous for his 11 course degustation. The cuisine is "based on the Japanese philosophy of natural seasonal flavours, enhanced by classic French technique" and is just simply in a class of its own. The degustation is currently priced at $210 per head (not including drinks) and it's literally 11 courses and 4 hours of PURE FOOD HEAVEN! My boyfriend didn't want a party or big celebration so I booked a good 5-6months ahead of time to ensure we could celebrate his 30th at his favourite restaurant. I was just as excited as him to experience Tetsuya's again!

The restaurant is right in the city but you wouldn't know it at all. The restaurant overlooks a beautiful Japanese garden and you just feel so peaceful and serene as soon as you step into the restaurant.

The service and attention to detail at Tetsuya's is absolutely impeccable and just plain fantastic. The waiters are of course wonderfully professional and knowledgeable but still super friendly. Dining at Tetsuya's is one of those food experiences you never forget - I still remember in great detail everything I ate and drank plus the excellent service and ambience from the 1st time I went.
