Winter skincare favourites

With the change of seasons I like to change up my skincare routine so I thought I'd share some of my winter skincare favourites for this year. I haven't done a skincare post in aaaaaages and my last Winter faves was 2 years ago oops!

Palmolive Body Butter Exfoliating Wash Peppermint Crush and Strawberry Smoother* - There's nothing I love more than yummy smelling body wash so when I received these in the mail it was love at first sniff (ha!). Peppermint Crush contains real peppermint extract and it smells just like mint chocolate ice-cream while Strawberry Smoother smells like a strawberry smoothie. Sooooooooo delicious!! The Body Butter body washes contain seeds for mild exfoliation and the texture is thick, buttery and decadent. I found it didn't really have much exfoliating effect but it does leave me smelling good enough to eat!

Loving Earth cold pressed coconut oil - There are so many coconut oils to choose from these days it's darn confusing and I have to say I bought this Loving Earth one purely because I liked the container haha. It's also extra-virgin which I'm told is the one to buy and it's reasonably priced too.

Milk & Co body oil* - At times I find the smell of coconut oil too overpowering but I still need to use a body oil after showering so this body oil is perfect. It has a lovely calming lavender scent and absorbs quickly which is exactly what I need right before bed. The oil contains vitamin A and E, papaya and rosemary leaf extracts to help reduce the appearance of scars and to improve uneven skin tone and it's made right here in Australia from 100% recyclable packaging which is fantastic.

Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque and Skin Smoothing Cream - The Skin Hydrating Masque is an oldie but a goodie for me! I use it at least once a week and it definitely keeps dry skin at bay. I always need a heavier moisturiser in Winter and I've tried a few over the years but the Skin Smoothing Cream is the best I've used so far and one I'll definitely be buying again. It's also fantastic to use after a peel!

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Eye Serum* - I had literally just run out of my usual eye cream when I was sent this to try out which was perfect timing. I'm paranoid about developing fine lines so eye cream or serum is an absolute must in my routine and something I use religiously! The Herbal Recovery Advanced Eye Serum claims to help reduce the visible appearance of fine lines, dehydration and signs of fatigue to keep your eyes looking youthful. I've been using it for over a month now and I'm liking the results so far - the serum spreads easily and comfortably on the skin and my eye area is definitely more hydrated and feels moisturised all day.

QV Intensive body moisturiser - I've been using this lately as a hand lotion before bed instead of my usual Neutrogena Norwegian hand cream. Both products cost the same and the QV has a thick formula like the Neutrogena but it's more emollient and contains double the product so it's WAY better value! The QV products are a must for anyone that suffers from eczema.

Bliss Kiss oil - I've been reading so many raves for this nail oil that I just had to try it for myself. I've only just started using it but I'm loving it! The pen formula is so handy for applying on the go and a little goes a looooooong way. I'm finding Lush Lemony Flutter isn't cutting it this Winter =(

Let me know in the comments if you've used any of these products before and what skincare you enjoy using in Winter!

Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo 2012 haul

Hi ladies! About a fortnight ago I attended the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo with 2 of my awesome friends Anita and Angela. I'd heard such fantastic things about the expo but being a trade only event I didn't think I'd get the chance to ever go but I was very fortunate and received a media pass to attend! *happy dance* I was good and only hauled a few things ;)

The expo was held at the Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour and it was massive - 3 huge halls filled with beauty goodness! It was so awesome discovering lots of new brands.

What I got!

nails inc. Sprinkles!!! I've been wanting these for sooooooo long and I succumbed. The deal was just too good to pass up! I got sweets way, topping lane and pudding lane.

I can never go past glitter so I had to pick up Nicole by OPI Let's Get Star-ted! and Honey-Dew You Love Me?.

Some nail art supplies! A 3D acrylic mold, dappen dish, dropper, tweezers and different shaped dazzlings.

I've wanted a nail polish display for ages and I finally got one! I'm using it to display polishes I need to swatch and it looks great on my desk ;) This one is supposed to hold 24 bottles but because some of the bottles are smaller it holds more.

I was hoping Dermalogica would be selling more stuff but alas they only sold a few items. I still managed to pick up one of my HG products the Daily Microfoliant. I love the stuff! It makes my skin as smooth as a baby's bottom LOL.

I'm nearing 30 (OMG!) so I'm getting into anti-ageing products. I came across these Cupron wrinkle reducing products and thought I'd give it a try. I picked up the Clinical Value pack which contains the Clinical Cosmetic Pillow Case, Eye Shades and Gloves.

I hope you've all been well! Posting will continue to be a bit sporadic unfortunately. Thanks for looking as always!

I attended the expo as a guest of the PR company.

Winter skin essentials

It's the middle of winter here in Aus and it is COLD! My skin freaks out at the best of times but in winter it needs a lot of help. I thought I would share some of the products I love for winter - some also feature in my day to day routine too. I don't post too much about skincare on here because I am such a skincare noob and my skin is not good at all. These products work (relatively) well for me but may not be suited to your skin so please try with caution!

So I er, kind of hauled quite a bit this month. I crossed off a fair few things off my wishlist YAY!!
Nail polish ✔ Blush ✔ Lipsticks ✔ New skincare ✔ Let's just say I am very happy but my wallet isn't haha.

Photobucket

I've been wanting to try out Cult Nails - the nail polish brand created by fellow blogger Maria - since her 1st collection came out. I finally caved when she had a "Buy 3 Get 1 Free" sale. She's no longer running that sale but she currently has "4th of July" sale which is even better! All polishes are $7.40US at the moment so go join the Cult! I picked up my favourites from her two collections - Iconic, My Kind of Cool Aid, Let Me Fly, Cruisin' Nude, Devious Nature and Captivated.

Photobucket

I wanted Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air SOOOOO badly that I went on eBay and did a little haul! Besides Glitter in the Air I also got Boom Boom Pow, Ruby Red Slippers and Bad Romance. I purchased them from a Makeup Boutique Au and prices and shipping were very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend purchasing from them and I will again in the future for her new glitters which are coming out.

Photobucket

Napoleon Perdis at World Square finally got Blush Patrol in again YAY!! I was very kindly given a $50 World Square voucher for my involvement in the World Square Winter Fashion campaign (you can check out my feature on the World Square Facebook here - you'll need to log in first) and I've been waiting not so patiently to bring this gorgeous blush home.

Photobucket

I redeemed some MAC lip products when Tara, Angie and I had makeovers done to attend the awesome Hairspray opening night the other week. I picked up MAC lippies in Creme Cup and Snob and Lip Pencil in In Synch. I LOVE these colours! I can't believe I waited so long to get them!

Photobucket

I've had problem skin for some time and I switched my skincare over to Dermalogica recently. I plan on doing a separate post on it (when I get around to it!) so I won't go into much detail here.

Photobucket

I also purchased two of the new Sigma Cleansing and Polishing Tools for my sis and I. I'm not willing to fork out $200+ for a Clarisonic so I thought I'd give this a try considering they're only $39US + shipping! It's available online from the Sigma site.

Photobucket

Sigma also very generously threw in a free gift of a small size of their E25 blending brush.

What have you hauled this month? Don't you agree it's awesome to finally cross things off you wishlist??

Thanks for looking as always!
